Politics, especially city politics, are all about image. You have to look the part. The first thing her campaign manager would do if he or she was worth a damn is get her a haircut and change her wardrobe. They'd probably also want to know about her prey issues, any initiatives that would be spun into being anti-prey on account of that, her rape, her being gay, any partners she had, anyone bitter break ups, jobs she walked out on-anything. A property vet politician has no secrets from their staff, even if the staff covers them the hell up immediately after. That's a harrowing, exhausting experience even if you don't have traumatic trust issues.
Also you're trying to cover up her flaws instead of embracing them, I've noticed. If she has prey issues, use that to make a good story-to actually be a leader she'd need to overcome them, and if she ever, ever, ever implied that in public or even private a political rival would absolutely use them against her.
Study some Chicago history, there's a ton of great books on perhaps the dirtiest of all dirty towns. I mean any major city's good but Chicago has the best stories. Local elections, especially in major cities, get mean.

If she's resolved all her issues, why mention them in the first place? If you're doing a political drama, you need to mix personal tensions and ambitions with the machinery of politics. A politican sells themselves to the people as an appropriate representative of their interests. The drama comes from both the people's interests clashing with other interests the politician must appease AND how the politician differs from the image he or she sold to their electorate.
Swinton is a vivacious, sensual woman who is perhaps a bit too carnal for her support staff to be happy about and seems subtly deaf to issues of marginalized groups. On paper that's a terrible mayor, but a good character because you get drama from her flaws and from the question, "So what's GOOD about her?".

Mead, you're a great artist and writer. The dialog was spot on, the faces were perfect and nuanced, the pacing was fantastic as always.
But speaking of "as always", it's just more of the same shit.
How many more of these are we going to slog through? How long until we get some kind of actual development? Nick's confronting Swinton was a nice change of pace, but so far this AU is just endless repeats of "July tries to stand up, then Nick verbally abuses her until she sits back down". Every once in a while it's spiced up with a little segue of "Nick really misses Judy, still, in case you forgot".
If you have these planned out in advance, can you just give us a heads up on how many more filler episodes of "July is reprimanded by a bitter Nick" we have go wait through before something actually happens? Thanks.

This doesn't really follow the character established in the movie. Not only that but...I mean, he rails against July for something he HIMSELF defended Judy against. Not only did Judy prove hi wrong about being only a dumb bunny and that he would only ever be a sly fox, he actually stood up to Bogo for her.
I know a character's death can have a rough impact on another character, but these were two pivotal moments in Nick's development that I find it hard to believe he would end up treating another bunny the same he way and everyone else treated Judy.
In the other comics I had the vague, sometimes explicit sense he was looking out for her in various direct and indirect ways, but this was just cold-blooded in every sense.

Swinton's role in this should've been spelled out earlier, as well as July's not-judy-ness as I've been TOLD about how she has different motivations but have not SEEN that in interests of Nick having hallucinations and being sad.
Not a bad piece by itself but as a serial you need to shore some stuff up; you've being too obvious with some plot points and too subtle with others, which leads to this, which feels like the climax of the story, feeling entirely one sided and like Nick kicking a Judy shaped punching bag instead of Nick and July's different perceptions of the world finally coming to a brutal head.
Recommendations: A Swinton establishing comic and a July establishing comic to properly build up to this.

Tragedy for tragedy's sake is a weak premise, and not only that, the tone of this comic is at odds with the previous ones.
In the first comic, he assigns her parking duty. Perhaps out of a sense of familiarity with Judy's past, and maybe he wants July to prove herself capable of dealing with the same bullshit the job has to offer to rookies.
Then the second comic has July taking down a cat and Wilde shouting at her in his office for needlessly risking her life, going so far as to hallucinate Judy in July's place, which would imply a certain level of care towards July; if he was yelling at a rhino or tiger, would he have hallucinated Judy? Would he have singled out her photo among the others?
Then there's the Swinton comic that all but confirms he's looking out for her in a fatherly way. Directly after is the dream comic that either has him confusing his feelings of portection with romantic feelings or that he sees too much of Judy in July to be unbiased.
And then there's this comic which is just a total reversal of tone, in which he tears her down totally and completely and there isn't even a half panel of tepid regret or contemplation or even a sidelong glance at her as she walks away dejected over what he said.
It's just jarring compared to the rest of the timeline's comics and doesn't fit all that well.

It's just as acceptable to say "I think this is good" than it is to say "I think this is not good."
