I'm still hopeful about the actual product, but these teasers are not going much. I guess if I hadn't read the comics, this would be useful worldbuilding to acclimate me, but as it stands, it's just been a bit of a sterile, broad-strokes version of that world.

Can't say any of them, hardhead is a winner, skullcruncher is a tad floppy but he works well, meanwhile scourge and blurr are trying out for the blue man group and fucking the others over.
The titan masters COULD slot into the "wait for takara" option as they got piss all paint apps, the voyagers like the deluxes are hit and miss (sentinel prime being a glimpse into the more sought after astrotrain while galvatron needs modifications to be any good), and for the leaders its very subjective since one is based on a good mold while the other is a win where only deco/retools from takara can sway opinions

I'm mostly waiting on Takara just because I want anime heads, but it seems like the biggest winners are the head + vehicle packs. Good back for your buck.
Deluxes are all nice. Skullcruncher is great, but loose hips, Blurr is nice but so monocolor, Scourge is just... average, and Headhead is above average. Sentinel is pretty garish and really could use some paint/stickers to pick out all the little details in alt modes. Galvatron is flawed (the mask and the cannon). Optimus looks like an improvement over Magnus, but I'm waiting on Takara myself. Blaster seems like a lot of fun, and one of the better base modes. Fort Max is big and decently posable, but feels a bit lacking in "gimmicks". I'll just keep my Encore FM.

There's no absolute shit this wave, and the Takara heads are worse by and large. Blurr is the only one where Takara might be desirable if you really need a Blurr with white shins.
Hardhead is my definite favorite, followed by Skullcruncher (who was a pretty easy fix with some Pledge.)

Have you been reading the comics at all? The war between Autobots and Decepticons was "over", and everyones been trying to get along to rebuild Cybertron. Megatron and Cyclonus are chilling out with Ultra Magnus, and Starscream became a politician and got elected Leader of Cybertron legit in a democratic election after Optimus went full raving lunatic for a while.
But the cons and bots are still uneasy working together after being at war for so long. And Starscreams still being a devious backstabbing bitch, only now hes in charge and everyone has to do what he says. Hes been setting up all sorts of shady shit like secret prisons, and having people executed in secret. He also takes every chance he can to shit all over optimus in the cybertron news.
His most recent thing was trying to make contact with all the old lost colonies. But literally only because he wanted to rule them all, not because he wanted to make friends with them and re-unite them with cybertron through space bridges.
And then they found tech to make combiners and crazy shenanagins happen when they find an all female lost colony run by a crazy ass Warlord who sits on a throne made of dead autobot faceplates and has a bunch of fembots that form Victorion.

It's just the flap that opens to the cockpit. It's not involved at all with transformation engineering or articulation.

I think that's all a matter of perspective. Optimus isn't supposed to have human proportions, firstly, and I think the only reason anyone thinks its head is too small is because MP-01's was actually too big, and all people can do is compare and draw lines.
Just like how people thought MP Wheeljack's torso was too long by comparing it to MP Prowl, when it's just that Prowl's torso is way too short. Everything is relative, and people lack the ability to simply judge subjectively. No two humans have the exact same proportions, why should and entire race of dynamic, transforming robots?

It's not that I hate that they're small, but the line just seems to need to be at a slightly larger scale. Look how much people hate on MP bumblebee for its size. thays also made Primal even smaller than his original toy. It can very much be a deal breaker.
Personally I like the MP line at the scale it is. It would have been cool if the cars were roughly in scale with Alternators/Binaltech IMO, but I do like the size a lot. Granted I only have one MP (G2 Sideswipe) but I find the size works pretty well.

Finally got Hardhead.
Wanted to get a good shot of him in a dynamic pose in a natural environment, and I think I managed it pretty well, all things considered.
I took a bunch of shots from different angles and slightly different orientations, and this is the one that turned out best.

I actually bought that and while it's interesting and does transform, that gritty plastic is just so bad (attached pic isn't mine but an example of the tank mode). I even used a special self-leveling resin to try and smooth the pieces out but it's just never gonna be as good as an actual figure. Feels bad. To top it off I also got a mirrored right foot which means the left foot has no place for the tabs to fit together so the front of the tank can stay together.
It was worth a try. It could've been so great.

Worse, Bumblebee had to be FORCED to hold an election: he wanted to establish a new Autobot Reich specifically with the goal of making the Decepticons suffer, since he felt that the Decepticons (by rebelling against the state, which had most of the high ranking Autobots like Bee outright working as Cybertron's Gestapo/SS before the war broke out) deserved to live in squalor and not be allowed to peacefully integrate back into society.
Starscream was the only one who realized the war was over and that it was bullshit to hang onto the past and after Megatron's rebellion was squashed and Prowl/Arcee/Bumblebee exposed as frauds, he won by flat out BANNING all Autobots and Decepticons from the last remaining city state on Cybertron that everyone was living in and demanding everyone go badgeless (something a lot of Autobots, like Blurr and Jazz went along with, along with Ironhide and Wheeljack later on)

And the Decepticons being right right in the beginning doesn't justify the devastation and destruction of cybertron, the atrocities and the decimation of the population. Because the flashbacks are also pretty clear, they had moved past those issues that started the war and what continued the war was Megatron's vision of galactic domination for cybertronians and the Autobot's refusal to backdown.
And Optimus was right. He wanted to maintain order and some semblance of control. The other option was to burn everything down including the parts of their society that wasn't irredeemably bad and mob rule, which was a bad idea since they pretty much elected Megatron their lord and savior.
