Nigga Biomerge is literally the prototype for Spirit Evolution.
S1 introduced Dark Digivolution which showed up again in Tamers. Crimson mode with Agni was basically armor evolution or DNA digivolution.

Yeah but in Adventure, Tamers, and Savers (The best seasons.) it was default six stages (Baby=In-Training=Rookie=Champion=Ultimate=Mega) with stuff like DNA and Burst Mode being more like obligatory enhancements as opposed to shit like Armor, Spirit, and Xros which have their own specific gimmick Digimon.

Dark digivolution is a gimmick as far as the anime is concerned. Skullgreymon and Megidramon were only ever accessed by dark digivolution.
Biomerge is a gimmick too. It was the only way for the main cast to access their Mega forms (except Guilmon becoming Megidramon through Dark Digivolution, a different gimmick digivolution). Yeah, Gallantmon shows up in other shows as a normal digimon but so did Agunimon.
Also how is DNA digivolution obligatory enhancement? Fusing two digimons to create an entirely new, significantly more powerful digimon is an obligatory enhancement? It's not Paladin mode or even Crimson mode. Omnimon and Paildramon are completely new digimon.

preordered anyway. I'm tired of regretting not getting in on the merch only to have it explode in price years later.
I got the band and the device itself. This game better provide more than 10 minutes of entertainment. I was wary of preordering because it looks nothing like the traditional adventure game of a digivice, but like I said, I don't want to regret not preordering now while it's under $50 for the two.

Armor was really only an alternate way to get to champion/adult, anyway. Other media treated the armor forms like champions/adults.
DNA/Jogres was just a way to combine two champions/adults into one ultimate/perfect. It's taken straight from the virtual pets, where jogres let you connect two pets so that they would "combine" and each pet would get the next stage.

They have been releasing the old Digivices as exclusives, as part of the 15th anniversary. They got some upgrades and so far the first series and 02 got their releases. Regular blue, Taichi and Yamato colours for the first Digivice, and then Daisuke, Ken and Paildramon colors for D3.
They are expensive though.
