Old thread is dead.
That thing you always wanted to be done in transformers has come true, but there is a huge downside. What are they?
Ex: Combiner Wars Seacons, all Aerialbots repaints

>Depthcharge and Rampage being too small compared to their CG
This might be true, but their relative scale is still perfect with the BW mainline and the G1 masterpieces. They are taller and wider than everyone they need to be taller and wider than.
>Primal scales amazingly with the generations we've recently got imo
I completely disagree. 1 inch too tall is too much. That is the difference between a deluxe and voyager, and it could even be 1.5 inches because Primal is noticeably shorter than Rhinox in many shots.
>>5764414
Yes he was. Here are heights I would be happy with.
Optimal Optimus: tallest (already exists)
Tigerhawk: 7.25 (already exists)
Depthcharge 7.25 (already exists)
Rampage: 7.25 (already exists)
Megatron: 7.25 (already exists)
TM2 Megatron: 7.25 (already exists)
TM Megatron: 7
TM Primal: 6.5 (already exists)
Rhinox: 6.5 (already exists)
TM2 Dinobot: 6.5
Dinobot: 6.5
Inferno: 6.5 (already exists)
Scorponok: 5.75 (already exists - actually ~0.5" too tall, but still he is not taller than anyone he shouldn't be taller than, and who gives a fuck about scorponok honestly?)
Primal: 5.75
Silverbolt: 5.75
Tigatron: 5.75
Terrorsaur: 5.75
TM Tarantulas: 5.5
Tarantulas 5.25 (already exists)
TM Cheetor: 5.25 (already exists)
Cheetor: 5 (already exists)
Waspinator: 5 (already exists)
TM Rattrap: 5 (already exists)
Rattrap: 5 or 4 (both already exist)
Airazor: 5 or 4 (4 already exists)
Quickstrike: 5 or 4 (4 already exists)
Blackarachnia: 5 or 4
16-18 can already be had in great relative scale, depending on how big you want Airazor and Quickstrike. 9-11 not. Of those 11, 8 could just be easy upscales with minor tweaks. In addition, you can find an in scale version of every character except Blackarachnia, Dinobot, Terrorsaur, Tigatron, and Silverbolt.
>>5764437
>Rhinox (generations)
>Rattrap (generations)
>Dinobot
>Megatron (10th anniversary, TM2)
>Tarantulas (10th anniversary)
>Terrorsaur
>Waspinator (10th anniversary, generations)
>Scorponok (original)
>Who do you want as the next BW MP, /tfg/?
All those dudes already have fine, in-scale representations except Dinobot and Terrorsaur, and of course I would take Dinobot, but Blackarachnia is what I really want.
>>5764437
>I'm pretty satisfied with TM Terrorsaur
TM Terrorsaur is gorgeous, yes, and hey he was technically canon for about 3 seconds!
>>5764457
Yup, they are perfect. I just think a couple need scale adjustments. TM Tarantulas from 4.5" to 5.5", and TM Megatron from 6" to 7". TM Rattrap could use a new backpack, but I don't care about that as much as I used to. .
>>5764471
He is perfect scale-wise, mold-wise, paint-wise, transformation-wise. I don't understand what >>5764473 is complaining about. He is absolutely perfect. I know because I have owned the mold. I have also owned the TM mold. It's good too, but it is waaaay too short, so I absolutely do not recommend it over the season 1 mold.

>>5764732
In 5 or 6 months when PA gets wave 1 I'll let you know.
TR is the most fun I've had with Transformers in a long time.
Hardhead was the only Deluxe I scooped up, but I reckon his only competition for 'best of wave one' is Skullcruncher.
Even without waist swivel he's great. A really solid robot.
Out of all the Titan Masters I'd say Loudmouth works best on him - though Brawn from Wave 2 will probably be better.
Thanks Dr. Headbeat
His Cybertank mode is also excellent. Love the articulation on the cannon.
I don't think there's been this much potential for gimmick abuse since Armada.
Tech Specs are back.
And last but by no means least, a PSA to make sure that your shiny new toys stay healthy and don't get broken.
TR figures (or at least, the one I picked up) are packaged with their head inserted as depicted on the left. This is INCORRECT. If you wedge them in like this, the connection is super tight and your Titan Master WILL get stuck.
The sockets are designed to have the Titan Master's head facing FORWARD, as shown on the right. The correct way to insert the head is to either twist the TM head around first, or insert the head backwards onto the body and twist it around afterward.
Sorry for clogging up the thread with images. As for >>5764732 Titans Return are still Made in Vietnam.
>>5764801
So how do the headmaster neck joints work? Are they ball jointed in head mode, or just a simple swivel?
>>5764801
So how do ya like Horri-Bull and Squeezeplay so far? I'm planning on getting Skytread and Clobber so seeing how their vehicles work would definitely help.
>>5764801
Ahhh I recognise you, you're the cool guy with the fun legion/legends setup, right?
>>5764822
It's a ball joint.
Saw a review for the new Wheelie last night. He looks so good.
>that beautiful headsculpt
>that crazy transformation
I'm so hyped.
>>5764823
Horri-Bull's is actually pretty simple but a really neat tank mode. The plane mode, like Nightbeat's, is a bit shit. Squeezeplay/Crashbash has the opposite problem, where the dragon mode is lacklustre but the T-Rex mode is absolutely ingenious. It uses the Titan Master's legs as the lower jaw and his arms as the stubby T-Rex arms. I'd recommend both to be honest, Titan Master packs are super fun
>>5764826
Yeah that's me. Didn't want to drag Metroplex downstairs to photograph them on him, it's my fiancée's birthday today and I've already spent too much time on this thread to be honest!
>>5764816
I like the use of symbols so they don't have to clutter it up with translations.
Do the Titan Master singles also have cards?
>>5764834
Aaah, alright, have fun! Thanks for the show and tell!
>>5764821
I discovered this when I had my fort max but they pack them in backwards?
What the fuck, someone needs an ass kicking, even fortmax and cerebros had the head connectors packed in right
>>5764821
>The sockets are designed to have the Titan Master's head facing FORWARD
I don;t think so.
The socket lock as you can see is clear on the back of the head.
>>5764862
>I don;t think so.
>The socket lock as you can see is clear on the back of the head.
Wut
The titan master's face is designed to face away from the body, or looking at the same direction as the main face is going.
You know if you're doing the connection wrong if there is resistance, if you need to force the head down you're gonna risk damaging it, and while the little head is on a balljoint you risk
>getting the titan master's head stuck
>breaking the connection due to the size
I hope his was just a one off, could be a potential issue for younger fans
>>5764585
Is Blackarachnia really this short? I thought she was just skinny Tarantulas.
>>5764840
Singles don't have tech specs, no
>>5764842
Yes, it's a 5mm port and subsequently can be wielded like a rifle
>>5764862
Buddy, I tried pulling Furos out when I first got Hardhead out of the packaging and it was so hard I thought it was going to break. I tried each Titan Master to check if it was just QC but they were all nigh-impossible to get back out. You need to have the mini head face forward or something's going to snap in the long (or probably the short) run.
I'm really pushing it now you guys so I'll be back with more pics tomorrow
>>5764867
Fort Max anon! Is it true that the Titan Master is necessary to connect Cerebros to the main body?
>>5764884
To be honest I never fully removed it from the box (thanks to the silly cable pack design which means I can't get him back in there) and just pried the head out from the packaging, not only did I lack floor space for him but I was only really curious about cerebros.
From what I saw, he can sit there just fine and you wouldn't know, but to actually connect the head would require the titan master.
At this point I'll remind that I sent back the fort max in favor of the SDCC version which works out cheaper
>>5764871
She's a little shorter. If Tarantulas is 5.25", she's probably not 4" short, but since there is a basic class Rattrap, Airazor, and Quickstrike already who are all in good relative scale with each other and the rest of the line, a basic sized Blackarachnia would be acceptable to me, but of course a small deluxe would be nicer.

>>5764944
Hey dude, Fenway resident here. The closest thing to "big box" directly in the area (near-ish the center of town) are the Targets at Fenway, Somerville and South Bay. From my experience they almost never restock so I buy most new waves online or on trips to Western MA.
For used/vintage you should hike out to Comicazi in Somerville and Toy Vault in the Emerald Square Mall. Both are worth a check out with great TF selection and tons of other toys.
>>5764952
Good thing I aint yellow.
>>5764956

>>5764942
Whatever nonsense are you blathering on about?
>>5765259
Vehicle mode scale is a pointless pursuit but robot mode scale should certainly be possible. Things aren't always perfect but they really just need to be a general idea.
Like that Rhinox cap of him and Primal being the same height. More often than not though he was noticeably bigger. So making a Rhinox bigger than Primal is really all they need to do.
Of course, it is really hard nowadays considering we don't have the Basic or Ultra classes any more. Hard to make relative scale work when all we have are Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader.
>>5765255
>>5765259
But as my post shows, in the case of BW we are so close to perfect scale already that I really don't think it is too much to ask. Not only that, but if we're talking about masterpiece BW, the heights I gave make sense because not only would they be in good relative scale with the other BW line, they would be in good relative scale with the G1 masterpieces (not that I like the G1 masterpieces being so big).
>>5765280
UW Cyclonus from the Grand Galvetron set and Cyclonus from the Battle in Space set with the Maketoys upgrade parts.
>>5765284
I fucking wish they'd bring them back, Megatron and Galvatron would work best in the ultra scale.
>>5765291
Walmart doesn't want a dozen different price points for a single line on their shelves, so you only get a few size classes.
>>5765292
A few animation mistakes doesn't take away from "Dinobot is the tallest" or "Cliffjumper is shorter than Hound."
The only spurgs are the people who repeatedly post a cap of Hoist driving Huffer in a blatantly incorrect and inconsistent moment like it means anything or scour for screencaps to see one time they made Rhinox a bit smaller do he'd fit in the scene.
>>5765295
I don't care.
>>5765299
The spergs are the ones who agonize over their toys being the "correct" size while they stand next to each other on a shelf gathering dust.
>>5765292
But I am sperging about relative scale, which BW did pretty consistently. For example, Rattrap was never taller than Cheetor, even if how much shorter he was varied from same height to 3/4 his size.
I am not sperging about a precise scale.
>>5765301
Of course. The world needs to cater to your whims in spite of actual reality.
>>5765259
>as long as they changed his connector port to a standard TR one.
Hmmm... hadnt considered that, but a good idea
>>5765295
And yet they'll take five or six different sublines with varying packaging sizes for a the movies and TF shows.
>>5765267
Ain't upset in the least.
>>5765309
Pretty much.
>>5765314
Sure you aren't. Can we expect to see anything new at sdcc, or has that goose been set loose?
>>5764576
Animated season 4 happens and is as great as you'd expect it to be, however, it doesn't get a single toy and that prototype of the megatron figure is burned along with it's steel mould being destroyed, broadcast live on tv by Hasbro
Is Blitzwing a good toy if you fix the shoulders? I know Nonnef/that Shapeways bloke released shoulder locks that supposedly work pretty well.
>>5765311
Everything fits into a predefined price point.
Movie and TV shows get more shelf space (and more price points) because they sell more units to more consumer demographics (from young kids to older collectors).
The older collector market is much smaller, so the subline(s) targeted to them get fewer price points. Currently for TFs it's 4(?).
>>5765324
Yeah, it's OK.
>>5765324
I think it might also need its head fixed. People complained about a nose cone issue. But yeah, with those two things fixed, he is perfect. It is a shame he does not fit in with masterpieces due to height.
>>5765281
A couple people in the /tfg/ are turbo-racist towards Indians, and since tf production is apparently moving to India, they are trying be edgy faggots by calling them "curryniggers" and insisting that the workers will be assembling the toys with shit/curry covered hands.
>>5765324
I hate the face gimmick, besides that hes alright, I'd recomend the Doubledealer retool tho, sexier deco and better headsculpt without the nosecone issue. Also theres a new titanmaster Blitzwing on the way.

Okay.
Got my hands on the Titans return deluxes. Hard head is cool, but he is quite underwhelming for me due to his terrible proportions. His legs are far too stubby, making him midget esque. I have never seen a figure that should have been a voyager more.

No. There's very little to no chance for the individual titanmasters to get bodies, they are just a easy-cheap way to replace lost/broken headmasters,"If you lose the head guy the toy is useless" was the main gripe with the original headmasters, the bodyless titanmasters are Hasbro answer to that.

He looks way better with the chest intended for Strafe.
>>5765645
Oh shut up.
>>5765645
No, it's not. You fix the shoulders, the mold is fine. You can dislike the rubber head, but there really isn't any other real issues with it.
>>5765635
No, sorry. I don't get stupid jokes.
>>5765651
That looks fucking awful man. I'm getting the UW set in hopes that they fixed Brawl but he looks like garbage.
>>5765651
>Hasbro drops the ball with poop Slingshot
>"FUCKING HASBRO"
>Takara drops the ball with cheeto Fat-off
>"TAKARA WINS AGAIN"
Yes, Takaracuck, well done.
HOWEVER
>>5765675
>shit feet
>half made of soft plastic
>tank mode looks terrible
>nosecone literally won't peg in because soft plastic + spring
>head has gobbed on paint that prevents the head gimmick from working
>face sculpt looks like shit
>has a giant hypercephalic head
>ratcheted shoulders plus soft plastic torso means it's impossible for the thing to stay together
Defending this piece of shit is the mark of a true cuck
>>5765698
I don't see anything wrong with the feet, but okay. I can't remember much being made of the rubber besides the head and nosecone. Can't have been a big deal if there was more and I can't remember. I do remember having issues with the nosecone pegging though. The head on mine had zero issues, paint or otherwise. And the torso/shoulders thing isn't an issue once you fix it. Nothing pops out of place. Of course we shouldn't HAVE to fix it in the first place, but it is what it is. It's not super awesome like Springer, but it's hardly one of the worse in Classics. No where near as bad as Ironhide/Ratchet or Galvatron.
If the new TR one is good, I'll replace but the whole forcing Headmasters on guys that aren't is a big knock.
>>5765699
Hasdrones don't like using effort.
>>5765707
The shoulders and the entire base of the turret are made of soft plastic
>>5765699
Only autists get spergled over Blastoff having a big chest. Far superior Blastoff option.
>>5765716
Oh yeah, I confused soft plastic with the rubber used for the nosecone and head.
>>5765699
>pay a premium price for an inferior toy, then pay more money to make it look passable but be unable to transform
takaradrones are the stupidest niggers alive
>>5765684
Rhinox and Vector Prime share the same voice actor.
>>5765721
The head is solid plastic, only the nosecone is rubber.
>>5765725
It can still transform though.
>>5765718
Except for the fact that it doesn't look like him at all, sure.
>>5765751
>Except for the fact that it doesn't look like him at all, sure.
Looks more like the character than Mr. Jet Brown, though.
Pardon my shitty display (i just keep these guys in the workshop where I can fiddle with them), but looking over them I'm actually pretty satisified with CW. Better hands and feet came in the mail today and they really make a world of difference.
And i actually have UW Supes waiting to ship from TFSource. Then I'll switch blades back over to Defensor.
Got power master prime, base mode was lacking so I fan moded
>>5765386
Seconded
>>5765777
What other toys you got back there?
So how slut is your uw Blastoff? any other reports about it been unable to keep the legs closed?
>>5765786
The legs have untabbed a few times when fiddling with Bruticus, but it's definitely not as frustrating as the Dead End mold where just looking at it wrong will make it separate
>>5765804
>unfucking the UW proportions
or you can do the alternate transformation shown in this very thread
>>5765651
I didn't get either because they both looked like shit. I just stuck to buying a swindle and an Onslaught and left it at that.
>>5765807
That doesn't fix the arm mode
>>5765734
Order'em then from some place man. I just ordered Hardhead & Skullcruncher myself.
>>5765813
>That doesn't fix the arm mode
It's always something with TFfags, huh?
>>5765813
Or the dumb feet and garbage shuttle mode.
>>5765819
I'll still buy it If Hasbro releases it in not dumb colors.
>>5765818
>stop complaining!
>HasTak worked really hard on this!
>literally anti-standards
This is why /tfg/ is a joke to the rest of /toy/
>>5765699
>0 details
>partsforming
>backwards hand
>still cheeto orange instead of show-accurate brown
>acceptable
Pick one, Takaracuck.
>>5765822
its just toys, man.

>>5765777

>now too poorfag to order it online
>live in asia so difficult enough to find stores and even more difficult to complete entire combiners
Just fuck my life up senpai
>>5765821
Yeah if i could get him for american retail I might bite. Especially if i could order him with a restock of groove so I could finally ditch Blades and have an all white limb Defensor.
>>5765832
Aww, I'm sorry anon. I'd just keep an eye on the secondary market especially as TR becomes more prominent. I've seen a few people on tfw selling complete ones for about $100 And they'd probably ship to Asia for extra shipping. :/
>>5765830
Ya wanna turn that armor piercing insight towards the faggots always harping on about Takara vs Hasbro?
No?
You're a massive hypocrite?
You just publicly exposed your asshole on a tibetan lolicon forum?
>>5765843
you're so fucking full of shit, you know that?
I've been on these threads for a full year already, okay? and I've not once seen a Tibetan loli here.
>>5765847
There's a shit ton of Nepalese though.
Headmasters always confused me in US fiction.
Like, the robots are sentient, but whats the point of putting a flesh bag in armor on their heads?
>>5765841
Nice, I actually subbed in Prowl on mine since his white is closer to the rest. Also been using him and Rook as arms because I feel prowl makes too wide a leg for him and first aid too messy an arm. I always dug the thundertank look.
>>5765857
I prefer the idea of them just being weaker cybertronians that have transforming power armor. I think it's cool imagining a lesser class gaining a shitton of power and making a new slew of soldiers to fight the war.
>>5765858
Or like this.
>>5765866
Honestly, Id read the shit out of a miniseries like that.
>>5765857
Probably like a refined stable combiner sort of deal.
The experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of two individuals in perfect harmony complimenting each other...
HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS
>>5765857
Two heads are better than one or some shit.
The japanese headmasters always made more sense until headmasters became mech suits or two robots as one.
>>5765857
idk ask these guys
>>5765880
My objection to that is the fact that you aren't combining two totally independent beings. The notion of Headmasters in the western lore is that without their Headmaster present, you just have a cybertronian that's severely crippled outside of their alt mode.
Imo it's just an unnecessary handicap to have to babysit your literal eyes and ears to prevent them from getting smashed.
>>5764801
Maaaan I'm like a inch away from just buying all the Titanmasters.
Can anyone confirm that they work on Brainstorm?
>>5765479
Does he come with the shotgun?
>>5765786
Yep, already fixed it, but it was never as annoying as Offroad.
>>5765927
CW Streetwise, m8.
>>5765927
no thats from streetwise
>>5764867
Not him, but if you look at the port, you can see two extruding details that look like they are meant to fit into the grooves on the back of the headmaster's head.
That being said, I insert the head the way you do, with the head facing forward. Because when it's turned around, the "locking" detail, whether by design or not, locks the head in way too tight as you said.
I don't know if the heads are designed to be inserted facing forward, but it definitely feels like the safer way. It doesn't take much force at all to insert or pull out the head.
>>5765651
I got the hasblo edition, because a jet makes more sense than a spaceshuttle as far as the team dynamics go.

The logic behind it is probably that the headmaster pilot can control some functions and leave the processing power of the 'bots innate circuits to maximize other functions.
Hopefully fort max is up for preorder tonight. Feel like everywhere else has got him
>>5765926
Do it. I always thought Headmasters were dumb but the idea of little pilots and little gun cars is tons of fun. I can't wait till they start showing up here.

>>5766017

I was gonna pass on HasBlurr, but then I see this and now I kinda want to try and make a really shitty Cybertronian Nightbeat custom.
>>5765967
Seriously. I have 150 Burgerbucks worth of Amazon credit and I NEEDS Max.
>>5766030
Yeah the transformation and articulation are extremely well done for a deluxe point figure but I also can't stand the colors, gonna get the Takara one though.
Generations Safeguard when?
Is the Titan's Return shit actually out? I haven't kept up with the release schedule.
Haven't seen anything in western WA. Starting to worry.
So is Legends Wheelie a rare example of a TF that partially decompresses into altmode, then?
>>5765944
Shit. I need that fucking gun...
>>5766043
Seriously, even a little splash of color here or there could have taken it along way.
Not that this looks ... decent by any stretch,
>>5766053
Nah, relax mate. It's just starting to trickle out throughout the US.
If you live in a shithole in the middle of nowhere like me, I'd give it around a month after most /tfg/ users start finding a new release until it's readily available in your area.
Could be earlier than that, though- I don't go "toy hunting" that often. I mainly just buy stuff online.
>>5766052
I like to call that drawing Braveguard
>>5766065
On that note, I'm tempted on buying a Hasbro Scourge and adding some more white onto the bot mode.
>>5766065
There's nothing terribly wrong with it being only shades of blue, had they used more of the light and darker blues it could be good looking, even.
>>5766065
Oh shit he could really be retooled into a Nightbeat huh? You just need a new hood for the most part and some paint apps and that could actually work.
Got my $13 motor master from HTS eBay today (Hts shipping is the best) and man I never thought I'd enjoy him this much. I have battle core prime purely because white prime and torso, but MM is just solid fun. love the sword too. though his and menasor have the oddest faces.
>>5766043
>Yeah the transformation and articulation are extremely well done for a deluxe point
The articulation is kind of there, but the transformation? Really? It's so simple.
>>5766059
Get Prowl, he looks better in the mold and the gun comes in white so you can paint it whatever color you want.
>>5766093
And its what makes it so great, they went back to being fun and insightful enough so the articulation doesn't suffer and it even has a piece of articulation that I haven't seen in a deluxe since Orion Pax which is a wrist swivel.
>>5766059
Yeah you do, its really awesome looking
>>5766108
what figure is this and w2c
>uw computron preorder sold out on bbts
Well fuck. Should I be worried?
>>5766108
mech ideas apex or geminus, can't remember which is which, they're their take on topspin and twintwist, just search ebay or keep your eye on bst
I got them both from bst for 20 each and I love the shit out of them, ebay goes ridiculous sometimes so hold out for around 50 each tops, preferably lower
>>5765651
Why do you idiots always post that fat sack of shit facing as forward as aestethically possible?
>>5765827
>still cheeto orange instead of show-accurate brown
That's so weird.
Every other Combaticon from Takara was screen-accurate while Hasbro was toy-accurate, but no Blast-Off is neither and that toffee brown on Takara's makes it look soft.
>>5765777
>those configurations on the cars
My nigga. Those look great transformed like that.
>>5764946
I've been saving money for TFCon, so I've got nothing in the mail. I did sell a toy to a buddy and it's probably going to get stuck now, which sucks.
>>5765651
I really like him.i just turned him around.
>>5766176
That's a beautiful headsculpt; shame about the cartoon-accurate monoeye though. Hopefully Hasbro gives it the proper visor color if they ever bring him over.
>>5765857
I will never understand Headmasters. I mean the gimmick is really cool, I just will never get the "why" part.
I hope IDW can present a good reason as to why non-headmasters would ever want to become headmasters.
What was Marvel Comics' logic for Headmasters, was it any much different than Rebirth?
>>5766284
>I hope IDW can present a good reason as to why non-headmasters would ever want to become headmasters.
They already did back when they first started.
>>5766065
It looks fine you autist.
>>5765534
Takara's for sure. I upgraded from the Hasbro version and I don't regret it.
>the white is a nice shade of light grey
>the rubber parts are plastic
>tons of extra paint apps
>the red isn't nearly as bright as that picture leads you to believe
Hasbro's version was a downgrade, no question.
>>5766284
The anime has the best story behind it, a race of tiny cybertronians that explored other worlds and landed on the "planet master", they had to construct bigger bodies to adapt to the extreme conditions.
>>5766321
That's cool but it doesn't explain why someone like Optimus Prime would choose to become a Headmaster
>>5766325
He didn't. There was a clone body of him designed for a botched resurrection effort and it ended up getting sent to Earth and a human bonded with it.
>>5766325
Well, that's why in the anime, Optimus never became a -master. They repurposed the Powermaster Prime toy into the new character Ginrai.
>>5766298
I don't really recall any large robots in IDW ever willingly becoming a the body-part of a Headmaster. Maybe Scorponok.
The ancient Headmasters in IDW seem to have just been born that way, so I don't count them as wanting to be like that either.
I'll be curious to see who actually ends up as a Headmaster. Sentinel, naturally, and Fort Max (or maybe Cerebros) will likely bond with a Titan, but not sure on who else.
Chromedome and Brainstorm likely won't. I could see Mindwipe and Astrotrain potentially, particularly the former, as he suspiciously only popped up out of nowhere recently. Scourge would be a neat touch, as it could just be a headmaster re-animating one of the many sweep corpses left over from Chaos.
>>5766328
>>5766330
He said "someone like Optimus", he's not specifically talking about G1 Optimus. He's saying that for the body-part of a headmaster pair, he doesn't see the incentive. And honestly, other than if bonding with a headmaster giving you a power boost (mentally or physically), or it being forced on you, I don't think there is a good reason to let a little man live in the shell of your head.
>>5766325
Technically Optimus Prime was already meant to be divided into three parts; the cab, roller, and the trailer. Granted this was rarely used outside early stuff, but still, there's some basis in Optmus being split in parts.
>>5766298
What was that? I just remember that human terrorist group or whatever they were using a bunch of Sunstreaker clones. I forgot where that went.
>>5766334
>I don't really recall any large robots in IDW ever willingly becoming a the body-part of a Headmaster. Maybe Scorponok.
tl;dr Scorponok did it to himself and it gave him an all around power boost. Then he did it to Sunstreaker because fuck Sunstreaker, and it fucked him up bad because they used him as a wireless router for all of the knockoff headmasters he had made atop that.
So if it's done right, it's a straight up boon, going by Scorponok's own work. It'll also probably tie into Sentinel coming back, maybe they revived him by hooking his dead(?) ass into another lifeform some how.
>>5766330
No, that's not why. Its because they already killed Optimus again in the Headmasters series, because Japanese kids can accept death and don't whine about cartoon movies. rather than further ruin the heroic sacrifice by resurrecting him yet again, Takara chose to move on and make Ginrai a new character. Besides, Takara made all the powermasters human pilots, so Optimus wouldn't have fit in.
That said, they still brought him back in RoC.
>>5766336
Scorponok ended up getting fucked up, they dismantled the shit tier mech bodies.
Scorponok hasn't been seen in forever either, which is weird since he SHOULD have been on FortMax's prison planet at the time Overlord showed up and turned it into a funhouse.
Personal canon is Overlord released him with all the others, and Scorponok promptly hit his "lol fuk this I'm out of here" button and random teleported away.
Fort max is up on bbts, 150
>>5766353
Why does this matter if everyone's just gonna get the SDCC version?
>>5766353
They also got the Legends guys in, finally. And more preorders up for other shit. Hopefully this means the Deluxe's will be showing up soon too.
>>5766356
>SDCC
You mean the version with the wrong Cerebros head?
>>5766356
For people who want the rebirth head and most likely won't be able to purchase an sdcc because it'll be out of stock after 5 minutes
>>5766349
Thanks for the in-a-nutshell. I forgot entirely about most "-ation" things in IDW. Or the early stuff in general, for that matter.
I just hope he gets a TR figure, it'd be a shame to leave him out just because he didn't get into the Titan Class. I mean honestly, I like him a lot, but a Leader figure I find so much more fitting that a Titan. He shouldn't have been in the fan poll, and just been planned for the line.
>>5766364
Scorponok is a base guy since G1
>>5766364
>Thanks for the in-a-nutshell. I forgot entirely about most "-ation" things in IDW. Or the early stuff in general, for that matter.
It's funny because they still reference that stuff pretty often, unlike a lot of comics that just seem to up and forget shit if it didn't happen in the past year.
>>5766371
Barber is a bit of a continuity nut. The entire Syndromica issue might exist just to explain how the Reflector triplets could show up in AHM despite being shown dead in earlier comics. Dark Cybertron was Barber tying up loads of plot points from Furman through Costa. Not to mention all the stuff since they've returned to Earth.
It's a shame that RID has to do so many toy tie-in events these days because I think it's limiting his ability to make those kind of stories.
Don't listen to the anon who's saying you need to turn the TitanMaster's head around in order to fit them onto the robot bodies properly. He's wrong.
The back of the minifigure heads have grooves in them that the robot body necks are designed to slot into. For example, if you turn the TitanMaster's heads around they can't even stay on Scourge's body.
Pic related.
>>5766369
And all the new Leader figures have base modes. He still fits perfectly.
It's just that with most TF media, Scorponok is a big guy, but not a colossal titan. I only recall him as such in Rebirth. I just think a modern Leader would have been perfect.
>>5766380
Actually, the official explanation for the Reflector triplets is that the Wheelie issue is supposedly a LOT further ahead in the timeline than the rest, IIRC.
And speaking of recent references to old shit, Hotrod did a flameout again in the most current MTME issue. Which he hasn't done since the Scorponok storyline that we've been talking about.
>>5766389
my memories iffy but from what I recall there was some bullshit time manipulation experiment going on with that planet due to some shockwave shenanigans
there was a big convoluted thing with prime and jhiaxus and bludgeon and the reflector guys and wheelie, it was weird
Just ordered fortmax from bbts had barely enough on my card to cover shipping, thats gonna be 10 plus days till i see the damn thing.
>>5766479
Damn son, where do you live? When I order from there shit gets here in about a week tops.
>>5766484
Washington state. Had to go with saver shipping, I was like 75 cents off for decent 3-4 day shipping
>>5766488
Ah, I never go with the cheap shipping. Standard or better.
>>5766389
I thought the explanation was that the triplets aren't "reflector" they are viewfinder, spectro, and spyglass whereas g1 cartoon reflector as we know him is his own character. Like how they did "tankor" (octane) and "fat tankor" (tankor)
>>5766479
At least you can buy shit off BBTS, being Canadian I can't buy anything from there because of their rape prices for shipping and sometimes they're the only place that has the item I actually want.
>>5766497
I wouldn't have either but when you a broke as fuck under grad you work with what you got. This hobby is torture on my funds and fort max was a splurge for me.
So how many Titan Masters can you fit onto a single Deluxe figure? Weapon-seats included.
>>5766384
I'm aware of the grooves and what their intended purpose is >>5765949. But at least in Hardhead's case, having the head face forward makes it a LOT easier to insert/remove it, which I would imagine is good for the longevity of the toy. It's also secure enough on him so that you can turn it upside down and shake as much as you want without him falling out.
But what I think is actually the case is that this will vary wildly from figure to figure, which is honestly a little bit worrying.
>>5765255
I myself am not hung up on TV show accurate scale, but I do enjoy having variation in scale. For example, I enjoy the legends figures because they scale well with Metroplex, Unicron, and my Platinum Edition Omega Supreme. But I also like how they scale with the combiner wars figure's combined modes, even if they aren't to scale with the individual robots that make up said combiners.
I'm excited for the headmasters, just because they'll go well with all the targetmasters that came with the various legends figures.
>>5765324
I absolutely hated this figure when I first got it. It was a floppy mess in robot mode because of the shoulders. But once I did the shoulder modification, I was happy with the end result.
By the way, the head issue with the nosecone not fitting properly can be solved when you take it apart to do the shoulder fix. There's a spring under the head, and you just remove it. It'll be accessable when you take it apart for the other mod, so no reason not to do it.
I believe there's a youtube video.
Just be careful not to sand too much. I did a little bit too much, and the jet mode is just a tad bit off, and the wings don't lock in quite properly.
