Rescued this girl plus a Cheshire cat one (Kitty?) from Goodwill today for $2. I don't know this series or Ever After High very well, so I picked her up for a friend, but she's pretty cool. They had a big pile of them but the majority of them looked like the same girl with different colored tangled hair. I think they were mostly all Ever After dolls. I've never given these dolls much thought but I love how posable they are and I'm keeping the cute cat girl for myself.

I've tried my hand at customs, and I don't think I'm terrible at it, but I have a lot to learn still. I've done three and a half new faces. The fourth is a WIP and hasn't been touched in weeks because taken a break recently because I have a lot of other projects on my plate, but I'd like to get back to it soon and try a few reroots as well.

Well, I have an extra Dawn of the Dance Clawdeen that I ripped all the hair out of a few years back, and a skeleton girl skull and limbs thing. This week I'm hoping to go to the art store and get some stuff and then try my first repaint. Looked at a lot of videos and tutorials, so I think I got the basic ideas down. Now sure what expression/colors I want. I'll try rerooting afterwards.

I'm about where this anon is. I'm good, but not great. I had one I'm rerooting currently, but I've been out of state for two months for work. It'll be nice to get back to work on my dolls.
And rooting hair is easy but time consuming and occasionally frustrating. I just use an exacto knife handle with a 10 size, I think, tiny needle with the eye cut at an angle. It's a good cheap hack, but I've broken a good amount of needles from being bent too much.

Trying a few customs myself. First attempt at a wig. Made the base from some silicon stuff they use for toy cake frosting.
The hair I got from China didn't work with the white glue method, so I'm gonna just glue it down sewn roots and all and see how it goes.

Some Barbie stuff fits alright. I mostly have older Barbie stuff, so the waist and hips are probably a bit smaller than the current ones but I got a sweater and skirt outfit on Harley, the matching undershorts were way too tight though.

I fear it might not be a plastic cap, but just part of the head, like with most Ken dolls with molded hair. If the molded hair is its own piece, it can be removed and you can always play around with CaM wig caps to add him the missing scalp. If the hair is part of the head mold itself, there is nothing that can be done.

General question: Has anyone started to notice that anything 1/6 scale actually has more PoA if they are girls dolls now than boy's action figures. Large dolls for boys are for 4-6 year olds. MH / EAH target 10-15 year old girls.
Basically the younger crowd gets less POA since they do worse with it. Same reason why the budget dolls aiming at a younger crowd don't have elbows and knees.

Isn't that technically fraud saying an item has all those pieces but in reality they have missing accessories. Mattel should have a fraud department if not. Your state should have a fraud department call them and they should call Mattel that should get you all the stands you should ever want.

They're aiming at a younger audience. Moulded on clothes and no joints = fewer lost parts. Their Disney Princess line aimed at girls 3-10. MH is now gearing towards the same (used to be 7+) to snag that audience.
