For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Being a Sinanju is just suberashii
Anyone know of a good way to make roller wheels like the green frame from the manga?
Somewhat related. I'm modeling a guncannon detector. Can you guys give me some opinions about the proportions? As you can see the hands, feet, and head are only blocked in for now. The backpack hasn't been started at all. Details and small touches are far from being done.

>Cracked polycap from gunpla
>First time ever
Wow, this never happened to me before and this is coming from a really new kit.
My old classic HGUC RX-78-2 after 11 years still has all its PC piece in good shape.
I am not sure whether I have a spare piece for that part.
>>5676603
>>5676604
>>5676616
Your proportions are just a liiiiiiiitle off. Just by looking at it, I'd say that the chest needs to be a little shorter and a pinch wider, whereas the legs could benefit from some sort of beam or spacer to separate them from the crotch and give the suit its wider stance.
Other than that, you're off to a pretty goddamn good start.
>>5676934
I might have a spare polycap, take a picture of the polycap outside of the kit.
So I just snapped a clear piece in half. Figure I can't get replacement parts since I don't live in japan (as far as I've heard, still gonna contact and try)
Is there a way to fix a snapped clear piece and having no noticeable crack in it? It's essentially just a straight bar of clear plastic, how hard would it be to carve out a replacement part of the same dimensions from a runner?
>>5677111
Post a picture of the piece you broke
When will Bandai restock their old Macross kits?
I want the Armored Messiah but restock never
>>5677120
June
>>5676934
I don't know if you have a Hyakuri or a Graze, but I know those kits don't use those polycaps from the same polycap runner.
>>5675960
They're Thai's actually. Malaysia uses the roman script.
>>5677124
I make it a point to save every unused piece/polycap but I don't have an extra for that one. Would gorilla glue/super glue work?
>>5677077
I dug around.
From what I can tell, kits containing PC-002 all but one used the #6 piece for the hip/leg attachment.
Thankfully I got the one kit that does not use the piece .
>>5677140
As long as the adhesive doesn't go inside the hole, you should be fine.
Time to see what everyone's building.
Paint on the joint is already scratched because I was trying the extending thing too much.
Can't bear to put any stickers on but bandai will never print more water decals.
>>5677114
Too late, I already attempted to glue it together with cement and just ended up fucking up the piece more due to panic. I'm attempting to carve a new piece out of a chunk of runner but it isn't going very well.
I sent Volks and email asking if I could get a replacement runner, though I doubt they'll ship to Canada. At this point I'm will to just buy the kit again for extra parts since I'm modding the shit out of it.
>>5677173
Buy a Graze, a Mack Knife, Hyakuri, or Grimgerde, anon. They don't use either of that specific polycap. Gusion if you really only need the one.

>>5677176
wrong post, that's the clear part guy
>>5677181
Oh, whoops
I meant to reply to Revive MKII guy
>>5677163
I've been burning out hard on my gbwc project. Since it doesn't need to be complete until August I've been slowing down on it and working on kitbashing hguc gelgoog with the old msv 1/144 Johnny Ridden gelgoog.
The hard part is that I already poorly seam lined and painted the hguc years ago when I was first learning. So I stripped the paint, put putty in the missed parts of the seams, and am planning how to paint the joints and around them as they are locked into the limbs. I'm also going to be mildly detailing it up with some new panels and such.
>>5677183
Would there be a way to duplicate the part? As in creating a replica mold for the piece, melting down some of the runner material, and pouring it into said mold? Anything to avoid spending another $70 for a duplicate kit
>>5677209
Unless you feel like spending a bunch on recasting supplies and clear resin, thrn no.
A picture of the piece or model would help. I have no clue what you're even working on.
>>5677239
Why must you reply to the spammer?
>>5677163
The full burst kit comes with waterslides
>>5677192
Could you possibly post pics of what the old msv gelgoog's backpack looks like?
I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but I can't find it being sold anywhere and I've been wondering how much work I'd have to put into the backpack.
>>5677430
I'll post it when I get home. I was lucky enough to snag one when hlj restocked on them several months ago. The backpack and custom bazooka are very slightly undersized and need very minor mods to fit, but nothing immediately noticeable and difficult.
The bigger issue is cleaning up the terrible seams on the parts from the old kit.
>>5677632
Yeah, I remember seeing it in stock a while back and now I regret not buying it.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know and everything. Good luck on your build.
Anybody happen to know how often hlj restocks on the old msv kits?
>>5677666
Depends on when bandai decides to reprint them.
>>5677685
And.. how often does that happen? Once a year? Once every two? Once every full moon when the planets are aligned and enough lives have been sacrificed to Plamor?
>>5677693
>Once every full moon when the planets are aligned and enough lives have been sacrificed to Plamor?
>>5677693

Guys I want to paint, but have absolutely no knowledge at all on painting.
I have some good condition cheap brushes and acrylic paints.
Also have a FG 1/144 RX-78-2 kit.
Can you help?

Somebody help me out.
When I was a wee boy (1992-1993) my dad bought me some form of Japanese mechs from Woolworths.
He build them up and when you put a battery in them they walked.
I had a blue one and a black soviet one, I also remember you could change the weapons they held in their hands.
Any help greatly appreciated.
>>5677856
Sorry I should say, anyone know what they were called?
A number of threads back some dude posted a shot of a "centaur" he made that was basically a frame arms girl with a Graze shoved up it ass.
Dis anyone save that pic? Or have a link they can point me towards?
>>5677868
technically it was a grimgerde shoved up her ass
Anyone have a MG GM 2.0 they want to sell? Even if it's built, as long as it's complete and hasn't been glued or painted.
Anyone got suggestions for colour schemes on a stylet FAG? Also, are there any good linearts for it?

Hey, can any of you sultry builders rec me a pin vise? I'm an amateur when it comes to drilling holes. All I know is that Bandai runs off of a 3mm system, so anything that comes with a 3mm bit is preferred.
>>5678369
>All I know is that Bandai runs off of a 3mm system,
They don't. Some polycaps are about 3mm but it really varies from kit to kit. You'd want a whole set of drill bits from 2.0mm to 5.0mm with 0.1mm steppings.
Pin vice, buy any set. Vices don't need to be great or anything.
>>5678379
What the heck is a 0.1mm stepping?
>>5678387
He means the drill bits get larger or smaller in .1mm increments, or steps. That is not a pin vise term, you are WAY overthinking this. Google a fucking pin vise, look and see what different companies make. You will see what he means.

>>5677430
Sorry for the subpar lighting. A couple bulbs burned out in my ceiling lamp and it turns out I have no spares at the moment.
>>5678748
Also, two little thrusters go in each of those boxes on the bottom of it. I just haven't glued them in because I'm painting them separate.
To make it attach to the hguc I just stuck a styrene tube around the existing peg and filed it down on the outside a little bit.
>>5678759
And with that it nicely slots right in and fits perfectly on the hguc torso.
>>5678764
That looks pretty dang good.

Haven't posted an update on my MG Leo in a while. It's starting to come together pretty well.
Used the last of my styrene sheets on those ass thruster pods. I ain't complaining, though. 6 years worth of material was a pretty good purchase, in my opinion.
Everything else is getting closer to the final shape I want them at. I'll be able to see where I'm going wrong on a lot of these surfaces once my can of leveling primer gets here.
I cut about half a centimeter out of the lower legs to get him down to grunt height. Wish I had another Tallgeese so I could compare it to the changes made here. That'll probably be my next gunpla purchase, since I've been wanting to do a clean kit build for a while now.

The P-Bandai kit uses runners from the GM Striker and GM II. Even if they didn't use the P-Bandai kit, all they accomplished was slapping two kits together and making it look like it was covered in sewage with that gloss coat.

Me. It wasn't strictly a gunpla contest, just anime related. My other entry got second place as there were no restrictions on the number of models you could bring. I don't think I'll be going back though. The convention was small and overall a hassle.
Gonna buy this, anything i should know about this model? Does it need a stand?

Update of the Guncannon Detector
Head and feet are done which is the last of the major body parts. Asking for more opinions on the proportions.
Head was based on a mix of the original and Katoki/Unicorn versions. The lineart for both confused me in equal parts and I actually liked the original design a little more in terms of overall shape.
>>5680995
What's with the Turn-A literal cockpit?
>>5681004
It's supposed to lower as a third leg to stabilize when firing artillery. I decided not to model any sort of mechanism for that, instead I'll be making the butt armor the stabilizer.
According to the Katoki lineart and sketches the Guncannon Detector's butt armor is a trapezoid with a big flat surface and for some reason the round crotch is used as a stabilizer instead. It makes no sense.
>>5681015
No.
>>5681015
No. Waterslides are printed on material that is affected by liquids like the softener. Stickers just repel it.
>>5681016

Off the top of my head, the Epyon suit turns into a dragon. Seraphim Gungam kind of turns into a face/ head and sort of combines with Seravee Gundam

>>5683169
Meant to rope you into this too
Oh! Gn Archer and Arios turn into these Space ships which sort of combine into a biger ship.
Good luck getting Archer for a decent price

Some of the HGUC transforming MS from Zeta transform without parts swapping. Methuss, Gabthley, Gaplant, and Asshimar.

This is especially funny because it just got a reissue. I have 3 of them sitting in front of me now.
>>5683188
Wait, really? When did that happen?

Literally a couple weeks ago.

April 26th. I actually posted in both /gpg/s asking if people got their preorders in. I'd link to the /toy/ one, but apparently the archive's down so I can't go find what post number it was.
>>5683175
ironic the re-issue just drove the price straight down to 14$ a pop.

If you have to ask that question you probably won't win. Look at winning entries from other contests, look at top tier modellers and emulate them while adding in your own style.
I'll see you at g-con, I'm only entering one kit cause that shits expensive.
I'd buy a Zudah-F P-bandai kit.
If i slap on a bunch if missile pods, cannons, guns and shield, that classifies as a "full armor" right?
>>5683451
Well, you do need some armour as well, otherwise you just get a "full version"
>>5683451
>and shields
ftfy
>>5683459
Well i don't have a pic of it, so ill just describe it
.its a hg Johnny ridden zaku 2 with some of the amazing backpack pods and a hardygun 1/100 ng cannon. I also gave it a mega particle diffuse system and a shield that incorporates sbs beam absorb. Pretty much a "fuck your special snowflake" for gunpla battle/gbwc
>>5683537
Sounds more like a "heavy weapons use" MS.
>>5683338
God. DAYUM them legs. Them sholders. That everything. I'd fuckin buy that in a heart beat.
Opinions, criticism, any input please.
Not really based off anything.
I accidentally made 00Q's chest fin red and now I like it. Tried working it into Transient's scheme too.
I know the red stands out quite a bit, but I want to keep it.
>>5683779
I like the 00, but I'd add in a second shade of green, just to break it up a bit. Though if you don't paint the clear parts that'd do the trick well enough, same for the Transient.
>>5683784
That's the idea.
Leave the clear parts as they are, and flat green/blue as close to the tone of the clear parts as I can get.
So basically the green/blue will all be roughly the same tone, it's just some will be clear and some will be flat.

I'll occasionally put something in for the National Hobby Show at my local Hobbytown, though gunpla (and sci-fi mechanical) entries are sparse.
I did go to a Gundam Day celebration a few towns over the other month, there were some okay builds on display there.

That is a nice metal blue though?

They look like they're in the dark, like it's dusk.
It's nice.

Nice blog
See those tiny metallic ball things on the skirts and calves? I've been seeing em on many kits and wanna know more. What are they called? Where do I get em? And how do I use em?
>>5683985
Ebay '1/144 parts" and switch it to low price
>>5684002
Sorry if that was vague, detail up parts was the brand i got, look for a seller with sinaju as their pic, lots of stuff like those balls
>>5684079
For best effect, drill a lil bit then glue it
>>5683932
>That is a nice metal blue though?
You can't see it in the pic but in puson the edges of the stripe were really uneven and the blue all had horrible brush marks,
