Aside from the lack of Empire representation or a new AT-ST, it's not a bad set, and the right time given the popularity of the Ewok Village, as well as the recent Hoth sets (AT-AT, Snowspeeder, Hoth Attack).

Fucking where? that doesn't even look like 1000 pieces. Did they use 1x1 pieces absolutely everywhere they could get away with it?

I'm sorry but this is one of the worst Star Wars Lego sets they've released, for lots of reasons:

- It's not worthy of an UCS title or a price point of $250. I don't care how many pieces there is, I don't believe there's over $200 worth there.

- Almost everything here has been represented in different, smaller sets before (except the shield generator, anti air round gun thingy and command centre maybe). Most people who pick up an UCS set at $250 I imagine would be long time collectors, who are probably sick of the absurd amount coverage Hoth has had in Lego.

- What IS new to the set is done pretty poorly. The shield generator, to be fair, is huge and does nothing, so the smaller scale doesn't bother me. The anti air gun is also huge, but I don't think it's represented well here and the build at the back is abysmal, with a huge hole for coloured Technic and Lego pieces showing. The command centre, if you can call it that, looks like a cute $10 set from back in the day.

Garbage. I'm building the Ewock village right now and impressed on how great it is. How did they fuck up hoth so bad?
>>
>>5663424
I think the main thing is just that it's a bunch of small sets made into one large (seemingly more expensive) set. If they had a large Echo Base set, with the shield generator on one side and the anti air gun on the other, that could look better. Hell they could've even put in some white base plates or something to make it appear as one larger set than a mishmash of shite.
>>
>>5663424
The designer is just plain bad and he even added shit to the model that isn't featured anywhere.
Take this watchtower for example. The reason for it to be there? The base on Yavin had one so he thought that the Hoth base probably had one, too.

It's only a collection of existing sets except one exclusive.

I could also include the Naboo Starfighter because it's so small(under 200 pieces), but this one actually looks nice.

But yeah, the Hoth Base is probably the worst UCS set i've seen.
>>
>>5663452
I don't get this complaint in particular. If the tower triggers you, take it off.
>>
>>5663455
At least the TIE Collection only cost $70 in 2004 (about $90 now?).
I think it would've been nice to have a rival rebel set for the same price, with an X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing and B-Wing or something.
>>
>>5662339
The sphere and all the spare parts for the stud shooters probably make up half of the part count.
>>
>>5663489
All the unnecessary components such as the watch tower and the various launchers use parts that could have been used for other things, such as covering up the back of the sphere thing or finishing the cave.
>>
Only a fart eater would like this set
>>
>>5663730
No, I think it's awful. The main base doesn't look too bad to me from the front, but the back is definitely ugly.

>there is still people defending this overprice piece of literal shit
>>
>>5661930
It wouldn't be so bad but jesus FUCK there's flick fires and shooters fucking up literally everything. Even the fucking radar dish is just a ton of missles. Has a single UCS set even had flick fires/ stud shooters before?
>>
>>5664043
No, meaning that this is a set for people who want to play with it rather than display it. There's no reason for the UCS label to be on this.
>>
>>5664265
I said SO bad. It'd still be bad. but the sheer amount of forced play features is what really sets it off.
>>
>>5662954
It's a shitty said for us LEGO obsessives who have been collecting since 1999, but for people who are jew to the hobby and new to Lego Star Wars specifically this is a great set. I'm sure the after market price for just a wampa cave and one of the other two hoth bases they made would equal this and you get mkre with this.

But yeah, as a longtime Star Wars collector, this set really pisses me off. But I knew it was gonna be bad when they announced it. We literally need no more Hoth sets except for a UCS ATAT. LEGO is just be I ng lazy by releasing a new one every year.

What is this? The 8th snowspeeder and they still can't get the cockpit/canopy shape right.
>>

>$45
God wasn't real back then

lel, in reading this thread I thank god I'm not a setfag or a collector. Seems like there's nothing but grievance after grievance when it comes to what Lego does/doesn't do.

That's not a radar dish. It's a 1.4 FD P-Tower turret.

That doesn't justify everything having their shitty launchers, though. It's bad enough how much they overuse them on regular sets. Their collector line shouldn't have them, too.
>>
So do you guys think that after the huge backlash, future Hoth set pitches will be...

... put on ice?

Or maybe you can just not include the launchers when you build it. Those things are fun. Get over yourself autist.
