Most of MAFEX figures are literally a case of "what you see is what you get". If there are any slight imperfections you see in any of the promo pics (head sculpt too soft, proportions look awkward etc.) chances are, that's exactly what you get in the final product. More often than not, people complain that MAFEX figures don't look as good as their prototypes would have you believe, but if you actually compare the figures in-hand they look exactly as they were advertised. Most of the time people assume there will always be slight differences due to photography and the like, but Mafex actually tends to stay true to what they show in their prototype pics (for better or for worse).

I guess so, but their recent showings have looked significantly better than their previous figures, which is why people are skeptical. There's also the issue of joints and plastic quality, as many of their figures develop loose joints or pop apart very easily.
