How good do the Frame Arm Girls look without painting?

What about with just a light panel wash, and say a matte topcoat?

I've never done extensive modeling before, but I've done some simple snap-build 144 gundam kits... are they much more work than that?
>>
>>5617309
Panel wash and flatcoat will look fine. I only lined mine with a marker. Waiting for warmer weather to topcoat. Do you have any experience with waterslide decals? Those are likely to be your only difficulty.
>>

>Waterslide decals

Not really. I mean, I know the basic concept, but I've never actually applied one.

I'll skim through some modeling walkthroughs and FAQs for tips, though.

>>5623852

>>
>>5623865

> buy expensive-ass Shinkis tax-free

You can already do that. Mandarake don't include tax on international orders.

There's jungle in Akiba and there's Lashinbang 3 on the second floor of Nakano Broaday, but its really expensive. I couldn't find a Gabine anywhere last month.

Is it your first time? If you think Tokyo is cheap for this stuff think again.
>>
>>5623963

Shit, really? It's so long since I've ordered from Mandarake. Well, it'll probably still work out cheaper without the shipping and taxes customs like to slap on my packages. But yeah, it's my first time. Honestly, probably my only time for the foreseeable future as there's a lot of other places I wanna visit. And it's less about getting Shinkis for cheap and more the novelty of actually being able to go to a store and get them in person. What's the customer service like?
>>
>>5623963
I think he's referring to shipping as "importing tax".
>>
>>5623990

I get it, not trying to put you off or anything. I remember the first time I visited and it still never gets old.

Customer service is great and they're super polite. Any more and it depends on your Japanese proficiency.

Also, if you're after 1/12 clothes be sure to check out the Mandarake doll stores in Nakano Broadway. They have a ton of neat stuff that's not on line.

There's also another great little doll store with some shinki sized clothes, new last time I visited. I can't remember where it was or the name, but you can't miss it.

It depends what you want. I stock up on clothes, tools and modeling accessories when I go. I can get everything else on line for the same price.
>>
>>5623963
I haven't seen a Gabrine for sale anywhere in quite a while.
>>
>>5623865

And if you're wondering how they got so accurate with the color scheme if that was just a fan mockup, they had the original frame arms kit and the concept art for her from that artbook as a guide so it's not that surprising.

1.wrong thread
2. your selling a toy missing it's head $45 plus shipping. it's beyond questionable in pricing
>>
>>5628148
I'm actually glad you posted it here instead of just the BST, but that's kind of an odd thing to be missing from the set and still expect to get very much for it. Without the neck you can't actually attach the remaining head to the body, so it's sort of useless except for spare parts.
>>
>>5627025
If that one is yours, kudos on the custom facework. I dig it.
>>
>>5628298
Would one of those extra sets (i.e., WaffleBunny, FortBragg) be compatible with this body? It may not be completely useless, considering shinki bodies are retardedly priced if you want a legit. I'll admit I'm not familiar with Strarf BIS and her compatibility, though.

Posting Shinkis for sale in here has always been accepted in these threads. So I'm not understanding the sudden backlash. But I will agree that's too much to ask for a Bis missing her head, $45-$50 would be a decent price for a complete one.

One person said wrong thread. nobody's really mad about them posting it here. Everyone's more focused on $25-30 worth of parts for $45+shipping
>>

That's true, those EX sets did come with necks for MMS 1st figures like Bis.
>>
>>5628399
I didnt say anything about that Strarf but i did thought about it being much for a headless shinki. Anyway, check your quotes.
>>
Figures default head is modified on another figure for shinki head to fit on. And as far as posts go I was left the link on BSW to come over here and drop the line. It was my very first 4chan post so it was a mistake.

Her head also sits on mk2 swimwear body and was repainted. So majority of people would cry it was repainted and didn't match her original blue hair status.

Anyway take or leave it, I'll stick to selling my stuff privately to avoid trolls.

>>
>>5628317
A black blank goes for about the same price as he wants for the incomplete Strarf.

In fact, there's a complete Strarf Bis for 5k on Mandy right now. Since this guy's charging 45 plus shipping, that's pretty much the same price.
>>

Behold, a crude chair made of beadcraft wire and duct tape that I made because I was dumb and forgot to check the scale of Re-Ment's minatures (those things are actually 1/6 to 1/8 scale, better suited for PAK and Pure Neemo). I balanced it by using a little blu-tack on the corners.

Back when wings of glory miniature game was still running they were producing magnet gimbal mounts to allow one to have their planes diving or banking. Now that xwings miniatures is really popular there are a lot of people reviving that lil trick and putting out tutorials for them.

Just google magnet mount xwing miniatures, you will find a great variety of ways they have been going at this. I don't think using two magnets is that good an idea though, they can interfere with each other. Obviously accidentally putting them in so the same polarity is touching the ball causes repulsion, but not so obvious is that you can risk limiting the range of motion if the two magnets just keep sticking to each other once angle brings the edges within range. but that is something I haven't personally tried out myself yet, I just know that I have yet to see an example of double magnets get used.

Buy an extra face from yja later
>>
>>5629093
Ordered from them a few times, never had any problems
>>
>>5630115
That's... not exactly a reasonable solution now is it? The chance that the exact face that's missing will pop up on YJA is remotely slim, and then I'd still have to find it in time and win it for a reasonable price after middleman fees and such. For that amount of effort I could have just as easily imported a complete one by now.

Or if you meant just pick up a blank head and customize it, that's even less likely to happen. If that option were really on the table I could have bought some recast parts from taobao and made my own Lunaria, but I haven't of course, because I'm lazy and unskilled.

You can also take the much easier route and just order from KotoUS, though they're kind of unreliable.

That said, they're your only chance of getting the exclusive parts without a middleman.

If you really want the hobby japan variant or the pink hair, I suggest emailing them to voice your interest at [email protected] and [email protected].

How good is the Skygirls Ichijo Eika (articulation, number of parts, etc...)?

I know its not a Busou Shinki, but is an MMS Figure.

I also want to know how compatible is with shinki accesories and additional parts (extra bodies, Busou Shinki EX Sets).
>>
>>5631220
>Price of 6300 yen.

That's like... double what the normal kits cost, right? So scalper prices will probably be in the range of... 175-200 bucks.

I was on the fence about getting her, but that cinches it. Gonna have to let the bunny girl pass on by.

Maybe on down the line they'll just release a Materia version of her without all the shit strapped to her back and I can grab that instead.
>>
>>5632153
They're the same as any shinki minus non-removable chest pieces sculpt differences, and the fact you can't plug in the normal back bracket on them without some modification.

There should be info on MMS2s in the guide.
>>
>>5632172
It's less than 1300 yen more than Gourai, so no, not double.

Assuming amiami does a 20% discount on preorders like they usually do, it'll be 5040 yen.

LOL I'm totally not upset but just shows you have little to no skill like the guy/gal you're grinding on. And as for the dust it has been sitting on my desk for a few days. The paint was smooth for acryllic paint. No hairs were painted in nor dust. But as a painter you have to understand rule #1 no matter what and where you work even in booths, your regional location, humidity etc. You will always have some small amount of dust. So any good camera could pic up even the tiniest of things. Reason I NEVER use a newbie camera.

I handbrush models occasionally. Use a decent quality paint, thin until it has a milk like consistency, brush on each layer in a perpendicular direction from the previous to help hide brush strokes, give proper drying time between layers, using primer as a base does wonders for the adhesion, don't brush on too much at once or too wet of paint or else it can pool, and a good quality clearcoat at the end can tie the whole thing together.

Still not showing your artwork still says it all. Like I stated I sold that Altlene head alone $50. Where's your bragging rights in even artwork? Good goin hoss.

Appreciate your critique. As far as paints I tend to use acrylics and lacquers well thinned. Humidity is pretty high in my region so perfection is impossible but looking good is. I love painting desu. I'd use an airbrush but shits too expensive.

Entirely sure you guys are trolling right now, but going to post anyways.

I guess by your logic, I need to post my own paint work for my criticism to be any valid, so I'm just going to capitalize on it to post my Gourai.

I'm not the anon you guys are demanding show his work, but he shouldn't need to show that he can do a better job just to say that it looks bad.

Because it does look bad.

That ebayer with that strarf and the anon posting here with his ruined Altlene needed more practice on things like gunpla before applying brushes on figures that cost over a hundred dollars on the market right now.

I mean of course, they can do what they want, but that's not going to stop people from calling out shit work when there's shit work.

Stop being such a sensitive ninny and expecting people to love your work just because you did it. This is not your Safe Space™. We are not your coddling parents. Learn to take criticism and improve off of it, or get the fuck out.

Just saying if you can bash someone, put your work out there for critique. Don't grill some poor person cause your shinki is this long - and the other persons shinki is this tall -- Ignorance is ignorance and 4chan at its best.
