Soooooo, unproduced toys thread? I'll start off with concept art of an unproduced C'hrell (IE that Shredder/Krang composite character from the 2003 Ninja Turtles reboot) action figure!
The unproduced Coffins of Deception from Panosh's Voltron! I really wish that a third-party toymaker'd do a pastige of these, b/c they're such a neat concept/design...
And two designs for the unproduced Inhumanoids figures, including a blurry shot of the snake-dude's prototype! God I wish there were an Inhumanoids revival, tho lord knows we'll never see toys on such a scale again...
And some art from one of the later, unproduced waves of Madballs, from what I think was a series of stickers that resused the unused designs. I want Klang Fang and Eye Sore.
One of the Nite Creatures Boglins, an unproduced wave meant to have wings!
Fun fact: dude who designed Boglins also designed Sectaurs and made puppets for The Dark Crystal; as well as sculpting the unprioduced toyline. And, from what I heard from him, Funko picked it up the be released for ReAction! God I can't wait for that!
Now if only they'd release the also-unproduced figs for The Last Starfighter...
And, here's the unproduced Playmates second wave of Skeleton Warriors!
Maybe if George Gaspar had focused on producing parts for that instead of making the boring-ass humans, that second Kickstarter would've succeeded...
>>5612191
>Klang Fang and Eye Sore
neither of those are in your pic
>>5612201
why did playmates make skeleton warriors the bad guys and not just a show about silly adventures instead of serious war time?
>>5612216
Whoops, wrong picture!
>>5612221
Oh dear sweet lord your talk of skeletons-as-heroes just made me imagine what Papyrus and Sans would look like in the Skeleton Warriors style, and I;m not sure if I'm okay with it...
Hurts
Unproduced Xevoz
NEVER EVER.
NEVER EVER.
NEVER.
EVER.
>open this thread
>nobody posted Toxic Godzilla with motorized walking action
shame.
>>5612313
>Toxic Crusader x Godzilla
I now hate life
>>5612313
pretty sure this was initially conceptualized as a TMNT figure and we (both fanbases) missed out, assuming it was designed by one of playmates' in-house guys. if not, coincidental stuff. rad as fuck all the same.
Professor Monkey for a Head.
Evil Jim.
I wish... I wish
>>5612334
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
There is nothing more painful than actually seeing those in real life, knowing that they exist somewhere and they were molded and painted, just not produced.
Also
>that PIZZA TANK from TMNT line that using this concept even up to this day
kek
that queen slug for a butt looks amazing.
Masters of the Universe Preternia Gigantisaur
>>5612364
damn this looks amazing. however it mostly looks like some display-thing for museum. I dont see how it could be exciting to play with.
it's honestly not that great but if it'd come out in the 8s the kids would've loved it
>>5612364
W-why does it have a hatch on the side?
WHY does it have a TURRET on it's belly!?
I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
For Beast Wars 10th anniversary, Takara considered making brand new Beast wars figures.
>>5612378
kookiest of these designs was a Triffid
>>5612376
oddly enough, this green prototype was a different design with a little satellite thing in planet mode
>>5612383
this one.... a 3P company is actually coming out with this one, so we're getting it even if it's not official
>>5612334
2003 utrom shredder with samurai Jim?
>>5612334
Samurai Jim is so clearly a Gundam reference(specifically Wing) and I love it. I just imagine some US toy designers going on a trip to Japan and picking up a model kit and being inspired.
SHF Goranger (except for Sun Vulcan) and those colored explosion effect parts (I know they were just for the display, but one can dream)
Mega Mutants TMNT Army Ant
TMNT Casey Jones Unmasked
>>5612419
Nah, I like his mask on in the original cartoon, with it off he wouldnt of seem as psychotic.
>>5612416
I used to have a mosquito, would of been cool to have the ant too.
>>5612191
Man, these had terrible distribution. At least in my area. I was barely able to find any. I think I've still got the Horn Head from that line, though.
Never saw a trace of these existing.
I had a bunch of the Tamagotchi ones.
>>5612334
Can we just stop for a minute and relish in how amazing "professor Monkey-for-a-head" is as a concept and character?
>>5612425
>wouldn't seem as psychotic
do you see that face?
but yeah, he wouldn't have the same charm
>>5612449
I would gladly buy those.
>>5612449
Speaking of stuffed Digimon, what happen to ones after Agumon and Patamon?
I thought they would release 2 around each time a new Tri episode batch came out.
>>5612267
>forward facing arms
[simmering with rage]
>>5612280
A damn shame really. The planned waves were pretty dope, especially Scarabushi and Mech Shell.
>>5612198
One of these prototypes (test shots?) was on ebay last year. Pretty bad shape, though.
>>5612558
why this was cancelled? this looks amazing. better than some crap like mega blocks figures
>>5612576
>why this was cancelled?
its not a media tie in and no one likes that
>>5612201
I was never that big on Skeleton Warriors, but who whoever came up with Bone-zai there, that was a fucking inspiried design.
It's sad to see it go to waste.
>>5612576
i recall different rumors
1. They were not selling enough (Hasbro expected em to sell as much or more tan Stikfas back then)
2. Kids were not buying em (older wierdos were) cause they were tad hard to assemble and also no cartoon to advertise em
3. Hasbro was about to start production of the G.i Joes and Transformer movies and were cutting several "non vital" toylines in case movies blowed
>>5612636
also more unproduced shit
>>5612647
i used to visit the xevos fórum back when they were out, most user were in their late 20s or 30s (and a couple of kids)
it was entertaining, shame i never got the monkey one
Also, there were some sketches or something of couple of planned female figures (the first one was a Neo-Sapien "Gunbunny" concept)

>>5612654
>most user were in their late 20s or 30s (and a couple of kids)
hmm...thinking of which... I remember myself back then when i was a kid.
One of motivations to be interested in toys (it was during the age when toys are "for kids" and "not cool") were seeing older guy interested in them.
Even when i saw in movies or tv-shows older guy having at least 1 toy on display i was thinking "oh...see? even people older than me still think toys are cool which means i shouldn't feel ashamed of it!".
>>5612686

HAHAHA! FEEL THE PAIN!
I know I'm probably the only one on this board that gave a shit about SDGF but there were quite a few figures that made it at least to prototype stage that I would've given a good bit for.
I got some better pics of the unreleased YYH stuff if anyone cares to see it.
Really hurts to think of the characters palisades never got to
>>5612733
I liked that show. I grew up on SD Gundams in Japan in the 90's. Good times.
Maybe Legend BB in the far future?
>>5612729
fucking THIS.
how i want Quackerjack...
>>5612735
I would have bought these possibly. I still have a huge desire for YYH figures.
>>5612739
wait...who is that bliue zombie-thing?
>>5612750
Uncle deadly. He was like a phantom on the Muppet show.
Figuarts Master Asia shelfwarming means we'll probably never get Allenby and Rain.
>>5612758
And that's the second time a Rain figure got cancelled. Bandai America was going to release one back in the day.
>>5612636
you know, I kind of wonder why Hasbro hasn't tried to revive the line as a part of the whole "Hero Mashers" line.
Like, not only could they reuse a whoooooole lot of parts (Especially from the waves we aren't getting here) but they could also attract kids via existing compatibility while adding some features to get collectors on board.
Also, to add to the convo about the unproduced, Mel Birnkrant: http://melbirnkrant.com/
Like, the dude has so many badass unproduced toy concepts I don't know where to start. I like the Invasion and Star Gladiators stuff the best!
>>5612755

>>5612558
if i could only have one unproduced xevo, it would be this guy. what about you guys?
Pic related is probably the biggest 'why live' of them all. Yeah, yeah, we all know SOTA couldn't sculpt a good Capcom female to save their lives, but god damn...
>>5612364
It would be amazing if Mattel closed out MOTUC with that.
>>5612887
Man I love me some SOTA but their ladies were awful and Jerry Macaluso was nuts, still is, you should read the shit he says about his hired sculptors on Facebook when he knows damn well he couldn't sculpt a goddamn woman to save his life.

I really wanted that Juli and Juni two pack

Nice low slung implants, Morrigan.
>>5612910
As I recall at one point there was supposed to be a Ryu released in solid black plastic with a skeleton painted on it, why didn't that happen? There were never any photos but I remember SOTA hinting at it. It's a genius idea.

>>5612334
Earthworm Jim stuff was always weird. Most of the shit in the game like the boss characters were little more than backdrop but then it was forced into this saturday morning cartoon mold.
>>5612887
Imagine what a competent toy maker like Good Smile or Bandai could do with a design like Hsien-ko and her sleeve arsenal.
>>5613099
and Doug TenNapel hated the cartoon too.
Fine by me, he's a douche. He acts like the franchise was his sole creation when he was only a small part.
>>5612388
It'll cost $400+ is that's true.
>>5613071
They were going to do Fraggle Rock, too. A friend of mine actually owns the Gobo prototype.
>>5612730
We may actually be getting those, if the talks between Playmates and NECA goes well...
>>5613110
we've seen the promo shots, and $400+ is nothing for 3P when combiners cost $500. Word is that it will be much bigger than the original planned proto though, I think bigger than Armada Unicron.
>>5612994
I was reading Comic BomBom at the time. I was so sad they didn't get toys since they had articles of their back story and stuff. And the manga ended abruptly without them.
Shocker Toys figures. There were some interesting charters lined up that I would've bought.
>>5612883
>weren't in corresponding clothes.
What do you mean? Master Asia wore the same outfit in and out of the gundam.
>>5612979
The first 2 waves of LCBH were my first complete BAFs. I really had no attachment to Pitt and the gorilla dude, but they look great and they're great toys.
But this. This would have been a dream come true. I would've done everything I could to get every part.
I would've also loved to have seen a BAF Maxx
Food Fighters fridge playset.

>>5612887
>>5612952
>I will never have that Lord Raptor
>Darkstalkers is dead so the odds of getting a nice figure of him are almost non-existent
It hurts a lot.
>>5612772
I was wondering that too. Hero Mashers is basically "simplified Xevoz with a brand attached to them" and they know how popular Xevoz are now. I think the main issue is that most of the design team is gone or something like that.
>>5612772
Hasbro pitched a Monster-inspired Hero Masher line that will get released in Europe, but not America. US retailers aren't interested unless they're from a brand name.
>>5613106
Every time someone mentions EWJ I see you slamming Doug, what did he do? Legit question, I don't know anything about the guy except that he's kinda a homophobe.
>>5614057
US retailers are too damn reactionary. Fucking Monster High went from nothing to one of the biggest girl lines almost over night, so why are they hesitant to pick up new boys' lines?

There were a few more, and they were planning to do a few anime figures apparently. Like all Shonen Jump crap but I would've like to see how they would turn out.

I came to this thread to post this figure, tell me more.
>>5614413
>I can't express why I hate him

I think I had a KO of that. Or something very similar in every way. Though there was a smaller robot in the fat robot.
>>5614691
I think Korea had a Mighty Orbots that was a repainted God Mars. Not sure if it was licensed or not.
>>5612376
>>5612383
I've always assumed these were completely different prototype designs but then I noticed the arm and body profiles are exactly the same. I also always thought the hands were on backwards on >>5612376 but what if they are the same mold and >>5612376 just has the head on backwards? Maybe >>5612376 is the back of a differently colored >>5612383
Without seeing the backs of both, it seems like the colors and heads are the only difference and that could be attributed to different stages of development.
>>5614698
Here is the unmodified God Mars painted as Mighty Orbots. It was apparently Chinese. I still can't tell if it was official Mighty Orbots merchandise or not.

>>5612758
It hurts to live considering there was also a char prototype kicking around, which bandai exec thought it would be a swell idea to put all of their eggs on master asia and a non street clothes domon? Jesus.
>>5614899
I'm really surprised NECA didn't pick up the license or some other company. It's a classic horror movie, and the werewolf is begging for a figure to be made of it.
>>5614898
Same here. This was the other one in the un-released wave.
>>5614910
Well there's that horror mini that's out right now so that shows some possible promise. Id like the 2 pack done as shown, but I don't expect that. I can't think of an accessory that would go good. Balloon?

>>5613255
damn that sucks, really would love some Golden Age superhero figures
>>5614882
Not the other anon, but I've noticed this just generally happens. Not exclusive to here.
Dude is kind of a bible thumping asshole, but I try to separate liking the creation and not the creator. Cerebus is cool even if Dave Sim is an ass.
Probably doesn't help that TenNapel hasn't continued to produce a stream of things people love enough to defend him.
>>5614883
What? That was released.
That link has a couple of cool things, but pic related will haunt my dreams. Even if it was probably going to be statueshit, it was so fucking cool. I had almost forgotten it but thanks for reminding me, assholes.
>>5614966
TenNapel has been releasing a bunch of graphic novels over the past 10 or so years that have all been fantastic if not a bit preachy and right wing, but I get what you're saying. Yeah you gotta separate the creator from the creation, if you didn't we would find ourselves hating most things.
>>5614977
>it was probably going to be statueshit
Looks prime for some Revoltech joints
>>5614967
No it was a joke because the cancelled bot looked like God Mars.
>>5615147
Orbots itself might have been Godmars for the individual robots had a lot of personality and it would have been cool to have figures of them.
>>5612883
i more bummed that they scrapped master asia's final moments as accesories, and that his hand count is really small compared to domon.
>>5614124
wasn't that homophobe thing just an opinion he made that the press just make it look like he's almost kicking faggots left and right?
i'm sure i read somewhere that he, while doesn't agree on homosexuality (which can be labeled as homophobia), he tolerates them, and that he doesn't go and wander around saying "YOU HOMOS WILL GO TO HELL", like many people on the internet likes to say.
>>5613159
PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN
>>5612758
What I don't get is, since they finally released MA, and he didn't sell nearly as well as expected... why not just make the rest web-exclusive? That way they don't overproduce stock and those that really want them will order.
I wouldn't have any problem if they made SHFs they weren't sure about selling too well all p-bandai. I'd buy the Sentai teams, the Gundam pilots, etc, etc...
>>5615215
TenNapel says a lot of extreme things to the press for attention.

Form the Transformers Generations hardcover.
Looks like it was originally intended for Diaclone.
Prototype of G1 Superion
Boneyard (Grimlock) from Play With This Too's twice-failed kickstarter campaign.
In the 1990s, Takara revived its classic 1/6 scif-fi toyline, Henshin Cyborg.
>>5620614
Uniquely, Takara also decided to release the toys directly into the US as well.
America got an exclusive version of the series' main villain with a unique head: King Walder II Magma
>>5620618
One of the final releases was a two pack containing King Walder II Evil vs Henshin Cyborg.
Evil was supposed to have a new head unique to his release.
>>5620623
When it was actually released, Evil just had a recolored version of King Walder II General's head.
This head was intended to be Evil's head.
As I recall it was basically a test shot that Takara sold at one store in Japan for a few months.
>>5616051
Flashlight.
This is a prototype supposedly made by a Takara employed for a high-end, non-transforming collectors' line that Takara supposedly proposed to Hasbro.
It's equally likely to be a hoax but "the prototype" has been circulating since the 90s.
One final Henshin Cyborg item.
Concept art for female figures that would have been made if the '99 revival had continued.
>>5620638
People took it way too directly. The idea wasn't meant to literally be a Superion headed sideswipe kitbash with brick legs. I believe the pitch it was for was meant to be transformable, though. It was basically more like "We may want to make a high end TF line; about this big, with this sort of headsculpt style(traditional), and this sort of alt-mode. It will have details like this(see carseats with seatbelts), and be made of this quality material". something for employees to get an in-hand idea of what they're shooting for.
hasbro/Takara use this a lot; for example whent hey didn't like how the TF 07 movie designs where looking, they made a mock-up of a movie-style Optimus Prime model for the movie designers to look at.
I-sodog was going to be a followup to the i-sobot and spiritual successor to Tomy's Omnibots line. It was cancelled and Takara-Tomy decided to import and distribute Wowwee Mip under the Omnibot banner instead. The i-Sodog's innards were used to make a high-end Zoids Liger robot prototype but it too was aborted in favor of Zoids Masterpiece.

I like mine but Bandai has no one to blame but themselves. Shit was released way too long after it was announced,it lacked accessories. Has small QC issues and is missing his iconic laughing (Super Asia) face.
Wondering if this will ever happen now. I'm assuming Bandai isn't stupid because this is literally free money.
Which Bandai official do I have to kidnap the daughter of to get these produced?
Kaiyodo had a Trigun line in the early 2000's that was cancelled. If I recall right it was supposed to be 10 figures, 7 from the source material and 3 original designs by Nightow. Only 4 characters and 1 original were released. But this was shown off in some hobby magazine.
Also of note is Meryl came with a display base that is clearly supposed to plug into another one, so I'm sure Millie was planned as well.
>>5623970
What happened to Bandai and the Evangelion license? Not only did these never come out, we never got any RDs from the third movie.
>>5624004
Considering Nightow was a complete and total westaboo who loved toys and reached out to McFarlane to get Trigun shit made, this is probably eating at his soul every day of his life.

>>5624004
It was strange the line got canned because it sold very well in the states IDFK how it did in Japan but that was a weird period where good US sales could extend a Japanese line. You're right about the 10 figures thing only it was 6 from the source and 4 originals iirc. Either way it made no sense because they would leave out important source characters no matter what, but I remember at the time thinking wtf are they gonna make Knives or Millie?

The last Tennapel thing I read was Rat Fist, which was surprisingly awesome and even had me tearing up at points. No idea if it's still online for free.

(To be fair, Byrne IS a huge cunt but he's still one of the best comic book artists ever)
>>5624575
Kaiyodo does that a lot. For Hokuto no Ken Revoltech they did 5 out of the 6 Nanto Seiken successors. Not sure if Yuda was in the pipe line, but come on just one more guy.
I think it's the Osaka merchant mentality of the CEO, they just cut off as soon as it seems to be losing money or have competition.

Half of Ratfist is still available for free, after like page 50 there's a note saying you should buy the graphic novel. Which is fine, really, it wasn't originally written to be published so some people are mad but it got picked up and Darkhorse gave him some money to publish it so why undermine them?
>>5624709
way I see it, OSC has some stupid beliefs regarding Homosexuality and a couple other things(which is kinda ironic considering several of his older novels like Wyrms are gay as hell in certain parts), and his writing has gone down in quality a fair bit in the last decade or so, but most of his writing up till then is still some of the best Sci-Fi/Fantasy stuff I've ever read(Speaker For The Dead is in my opinion one of the 10 best Science Fiction novels of the second half of the 20th century)

I swear Food Fighters was just the result of Mattel repackaging dog toys.
>>5621632
that's so badass.
Why can't 4H make something this cool?
>>5621452
Blind box figures
>>5625032
Actually, due to the costs of manufacture and distribution, besides that is a figure of an almost unknown line, 4H would need to promote a prototype first to reach an acceptable number of buyers to invest in the realization of the figure and after costs and shipping charges, one must be willing to drop big bucks for a single figure
We could have had this glorious bastard but nah lets vote for a glorified 'What If' instead.
Polls are poison.
>>5614195
That;s both amazing yet horribly stupid looking.
>>5614886
I just don't understand why they made a figure of that stupid demon Nazi first, and not the fucking werewolf.
>>5621333
Yep. Walder were all about body horror stuff.
>>5621337
It's an """homage""" to his Pretender shell
>>5621350
The first was badly organized and was just too many different things at once.
For the second one, instead of doing Skullgrin and Bombburst again, the two guys who generated the most buzz for the first one, they decided that their only figures for the 2nd would 10 repaints of Starscream and 6 repaints of Grimlock. It bombed hard because almost no cares about Classic Pretenders.
>>5614195
Holy fuck, that is ugly as sin.

We just got a silver samurai legends. What's your problem?

McFarlane took over and ruined it for everybody? and if there was a SCUD in the 90s, itd just be 5POA shit with gimmick variants?
I still cry.

>Polls are poison.
Actually a former Hasbro employee revealed that the poll was fixed. The figure had no chance of being released.
Sunfire was released cause it was one of the cheapest figures to make from the poll since it used 90% reused parts.
I can't believe this got canceled instead of one of those shitty Hulk variants in that wave.
>>5624004
Fuck, would love to have a Legato in my collection.
>>5626951
>Northstar would have been the easiest at the time
I never said it wouldn't.

I'd have bought these so hard. I might still have Megavolt around somewhere.
>>5624036
I'm right there with you, anon
Maybe if they'd been sold as just buildable toys rather than tied to a game nobody played the line would have been cheap enough to survive
To this day I regret not getting into them sooner

>You could learn a lot from a dummy.
I seem to recall this thread being much closer to bump limit and image limit the last time I saw it.
