FINALLY. Not sure about the rest but I need this one.
Really digging the looks of these guys, especially Eagle Robo and Drill Robo. 10 year old me would have killed for these guys back in the day. I now have the theme stuck in my head thanks OP.
>>5608077
I need this in my life.
>>5608133
To be fair, the original MR stuff wasn't exactly stellar in the face department.
Personally, I would've preferred this line steer more towards GoBots in every respect, but I understand the Asians, who do all of modern toymaking, have different priorities. If it were just the faces, there would be a shot at kits to fix that, but they've all got that weird Studio Ox proportions bit going on. I'll buy CyKill and Turbo, sit them beside my original Popy versions, and probably be done with it.
They are these protos that have been at a few shows, right? For some reason I thought Takara were making them.
Anyway, they look pretty cool. I'll probably pick up Cykill and Leader 1 at this point as long as the prices aren't too outrageous.
I'd love it if they also made a Scorp, for some reason that was a reoccurring toy in my childhood.
How big are these guys and who exactly is gonna be selling them?
> No Scooter.
Whelp that's the death knell for this line.
>>5608198
All the monsterbots were fucking awesome. I'd love it if they made them. At the very least they showed up in RoC though they were still villains.
>>5608179
>I would've preferred this line steer more towards GoBots in every respect, but I understand the Asians, who do all of modern toymaking, have different priorities
because things like paying for certain character model sheets from companies and dealing with the massive copyright mess that is GoBots, let alone GoBots being nothing in Japan, has nothing to do with any of it.
Any idea when they are coming out?
PREORDERS FUCKING WHEN
>>5608401
its not cy-kill though
>>5608407
exactly
in the japanese show all the robots were good and the "monster robot" things were teh bad guys
>>5608349
That's been ironed out for years.
Also the Machine Robo cartoon does not have those weird proportions either. So that is clearly the prerogative of the designers who take numerous liberties (greebling especially) with 3rd party TFs as well.
Stop autistically reading "I wish they would've" as "they should've."
>>5608069
How much?
Oh my god, I think I might have to get all of these guys. RoC is like my favorite show that I've never actually seen.
These make me want to go drop the cash for SoC Baikanfu.
>>5608179
Meanwhile I'm fucking glad they're not doing any GoBots shit in this. That shitty looking trash should be forgotten.
Machine Robo's aesthetics are really cool and really deserve proper updates. They were cool designs, not poorly drawn Hanna Barbera garbage. I'm really looking forward to this line.
So what size are these. I hope they're no bigger than a Legends Class Transformer honestly.
Also do you REALLY want Gobots over Machine Robo?
>>5608366
Please tell me that locomotive isn't there just for scale and it's going to be part of the line.
>>5608251
Japan doesn't like Villains
>>5608702
As far as media goes, Gobots was unadulterated garbage. I actually liked the cartoon and books growing up, but looking back they're even worse than Transformers.
The only reason people in the West care about these is because we had the toys when we were kids. But Bandai were already releasing them here before Gobots was a thing.
>>5608571
Fucking this. I care little to nothing about the gobots but these guys look super fun.
>>5608702
>No one would care about your shounenshit robot anime if it weren't for the Gobots.
That's why all the awesome figures in this thread look like they did in the GoBots cartoon, right? Oh wait.
>>5608611
If they scale with Maketoys' Manga Mech line I'm gonna cream myself after mashing on like 8 preorder buttons.
>>5608407
sorry, Gyro-Robo
>>5608069
I want a Cy-Kill
where best to get these?
>>5608074
Stop trying to make drill tanks happen, Japan. They're not going to happen.
>>5608957
>>5608955
Probably Hlj or amiami when they go up for PO
>>5608795
No, but it does explain why some of the awesome toys in this thread were major characters in Gobots but were only glorified extras in Revenge of Chronos.
>>5609026
Oh c'mon, don't make me choose! Probably either Rod Drill or Bluejet
It's been a long, long time since I watched Cronos, but Crasher's character base wasn't it, was it?
I really wanted the main cast, but there's no Scooter and no Crasher to be had...
Viper has swords? SOLD.
And is that a prototype of the SR-71? DOUBLE SOLD.
I'm actually sold on all the jets.
>>5609116
Both Scooter Robo and Porsche Robo technicially appeared in the series iirc but they were tiny bit parts as far as I'm aware
>>5609116
This is a pretty detailed character guide that shows which Machine Robo toys appeared in Revenge of Chronos: http://counter-x.net/gobots/revenge/characters/index.html
>>5609471
So were Eagle Robo (Leader-1), Bike Robo (CyKill) and Supercar Robo (Turbo), which shows that popular Gobot characters were also taken into account when they decided which ones to make toys of.
>>5608758
>>5608702
I seen both, I can stomach gobots over machine robo revenge of chronos.
One tried hard to take on transformers (gobots) but the other was the most...poorly written shit, I loved the art direction but just watching the fights, god damn.
>oh wait shit there is fire
>"ill just pray for rain"
>it rains
Christ, I just want the toys now after watching that, both make me feel ill
Seriously watch that shit on youtube
>>5608069
I was into MR as a kid and thought Gobots were a retarded version of the original, but even I can't get over that baby face.
>>5609731
It's kinda close...
I'm sure some 3P company will make GoBots replacement heads for these toys.
>>5609471
we've seen a Scooter prototype
>>5609731
>>5609741
Eh, I prefer Cykill's 5 o'clock shadow face design. Gives him character, unlike that babyface.
>>5609825
Same
The new toy just makes him look like a disgruntled teenager
Bike Robo and Rod Drill are up for preorder on BBTS. 4.5", $45, available Q4 this year.
Also the anon who thought Rod Drill had no waist articulation was thankfully mistaken.
>>5610028
>herpapaderp hasbloob cares about my 80s nostyalgia
baiznga
>>5610052
>$45
Shit, that's not bad. Time to buy all of them I guess.
>>5610052
>Rod Drill had no waist articulation
I read this as 'wrist articulation' and I was gonna splurge out. Good thing I read it again.
Also, good to see that this guy has a waist. It's great.
>>5610052
CORRECTION:
Q2 2016, not Q4.
Nice, I just cancelled a couple preorders I don't want much and nabbed these instead.
I know nothing about Machine Robo or GoBots but these guys just look way too cool to pass up. I'm a sucker for old school looking mechs.
>>5609741
Man, he had nice angular lines. Why they'd fug up the toy sculpt?
>>5610078
Because it's MT
>>5610056
Gesundheit
According to the FB page, each figure will have diecast parts and comes with a modular display.
>>5610156
>diecast
Where the fuck would diecast be appropriate on 5 inch figures.
>>5610156
That might be the nicest looking jetformer I've ever seen.
>>5610052
Any Japanese sites yet? I'd imagine they'd be even cheaper
>>5610169
That's a bit drastic, but I agree with your sentiment. I really want to see the underside. Doubt it's as flush as say, Generations Scourge, but if it's as good as Voyager Mindwipe, i'm buyin'
>>5610227
You might be right, but it frustrates me to no end that nobody has produced straightforward, sturdy, non-partsforming deluxe/voyager sized toys of the VF-1.
>>5610254
wait, they haven't?!
I'd totally buy a deluxe one. the design is 30 years old now, surely they can do it in that scale?
>>5610258
The Hi Metal R line is the closest thing I know of, but as beautiful as they are they're still sort of a clusterfuck of tiny moving delicate parts.
Crane Robo when?????
>>5610254
A takaraTomy or even 3rd party attempt at a VF-1 that aims more for playability than show accuracy has been my want for years. An update to the TakaToku toys Valkyrie.
>>5610220
I'm taking into account how nice the robot mode looks, in terms of being a standard bipedal super robot having a jet mode that clean is great. Definitely need to see the bottom though. I suppose "nicest looking jetformer with that kind of robot mode" would be more accurate
>>5610161
>Modular bases
Ok, I'm in. That justifies the price for me.
>>5610499
NM just heard back from them on their FB. The advertised photos didn't have the modular bases, it had simple ones in their place but they said it was just for posing. We will see I suppose. PO'd.
>>5608366
>titan boy
yes
>>5610307
I'd laugh if he was on model.
>>5610763
It reads to me like the simplified ones were just to take pictures and these bigger ones are the modular bases.
So any idea if these will be up on HLJ or AmiAmi? Rather not go through BBTS for them.
tobkek
>>5613004
BBTS isn't so bad if you're located in the US. It is a bit faster than SAL anyway.
I'm hoping they do a white porche robo, since I had that version so long ago.
>>5617205
Salmoor was cool, i really liked him a lot.
>>5610254
The G2 Cyberjets are reasonably close. There's no reason they couldn't do better at deluxe scale.
>>5609667
Agreed. The MR anime is really formulaic and boring. Great opening theme but totally forgettable after that. I honestly don't know what people see in it.
I also don't get the intense hatred towards GoBots. It's practically the same show as pre-movie TransFormers. Marketing? Parents told you it was bad?
>>5617552
>The MR anime is really formulaic and boring
In the first half, yeah. it picks up in the second half
>Great opening theme but totally forgettable after that
what about the beautiful, highly detailed animation?
>>5617511
>The G2 Cyberjets are reasonably close
R-Blade confirmed for a lost Valkyrie
What's the best/most direct place to get these?
Britbong here, and I have a UK site that I can preorder them on but in the past this particular site has been pretty slow at getting preorders in. If possible i'd rather get them direct and cut out the middle men. They aren't listed on amiami or NY though.
>>5618006
I still want this one so much.
>>5617580
They are also smaller than your dick.
>>5621934
get him, he's quite cheap on Mandarake.
make sure to shave down the peg on his machine gun though, having it in his hand for too long can crack the hand at the knuckle
>>5617586
>what about the beautiful, highly detailed animation?
Most of it is washed out with limited movement. I don't believe the DVDs ever got to the second half.
>>5622074
The DVDs only got the first 15 episodes, you'll have to deal with shitty subs for the rest
while the characters dont move so well, it is rather detailed. The animators for Machine Robo actually regularly challenged each other to see who can draw the most details and shading per shot, which resulted in its distinct look
