I think people would be more open to the TM thing if those guys were G1 characters that already have decent toys released in the last few years, like Starscream, Warpath, Blitzwing, etc... instead of being characters that haven't gotten toys in ages, while having the guys who haven't gotten toys as leads of the line.
So basically, having guys like Blurr, or Scourge (characters who got toys not too long ago, one being rereleased at the same time as the new one) feels like a slap in the face, since it implies the head only dudes aren't important enough to get a new toy now, and there's no guarantee they'll get a proper toy next year. To make matters worse, if they do get new toys in a few years, they might not even be compatible with these guys.

Would you have rather had a Snapdragon that turned into a crocodile? The Movie guys are their way of getting the necessary mold reuse in Titans Return while allowing the '87 Headmasters to have different molds from each other.
I'd love to get all of the Headmasters -- and I hope there are figures to come later on, but it's not like they could have replaced the Movie figures without having to use the molds of Hardhead and friends.

1. Those that love the original and want the takara one and constantly bash those that want Hasbro

Depends on the pricepoint it drops at, but if you factor in the aftermarket currently on Gen Blurr and Arcee, even if it's just retail pricepoint for three deluxes, a voyager and a Leader it'll still be a pretty good bargain.
Even with a premium painjob markup on it, if might be worth if you're missing most of the molds.

In all honesty I really don't care about late G1 stuff, so Hasbro dropping the ball with it doesn't matter much to me. However, I am going Takara exclusive for the most part just because they actually acknowledge that BEast wars existed. Hasbro basically having nothing to show for its 20th anniversary is twisting the knife, and tells me they just don't care. so screw 'em, if they don't care about muh childhood, I won't care about them.
Its funny, because evidently G1 fans aren't happy with Hasbro's G1 toys, so they managed to just alienate two groups of people.

Nah, the T30 BW stuff was planned and designed before the old design team got changed up and partially laid off. Rhinox in particular was being hinted at since 2009 or so. Joe Kyde, who was head of the 30 stuff, specifically wanted to d something from every era/gimmick of transformers he could fit into the anniversary celebration.
Its extremely telling that John Warden, the guy who took over for Kyde as lead designer, wanted to nix all of that and just redo all the 1984 toys (which had mostly just gotten toys in classics/Universe/Generations) AGAIN, and had to be told that fans actually do like stuff beyond G1.

Hasbro doesn't know what to do with GI Joe. And neither does IDW. Hub's Renegades failed. The main ongoing book got cancelled like six issues into the soft reboot. The only book around is the continuation of the original Hama comic. The direction that gets more acclaim would be going more adult and more violent like the Resolute cartoon movie or the Cobra book. But neither of these are feasible for a kid friendly audience.

So lets talk about the most interesting part of the set, strafe, both takara and hasbro's are heavily retooled using new heads (from what I can see), if they sold them individually I'd of bought this hasbro strafe just as a spare limb for my OC gestalts much like take off, but I'll have to pass.
To me personally either works, they're both retooled figures, takara's just happens to be smarter since they flipped booboff backwards while hasbro's is simple but effective.
...but given the chance, I reckon hasbro would of just recolored another existing mold like the other 2...speaking of-

Not him but in terms of site navigation I can find things alot easier, in 5 mins I was able to see all the cw stuff on tf wiki.
Gave up after 10 mins on the other, and I'm not an amerifat, I thought perhaps its not updated as often.
I'll give you one thing, tf wiki's "special" character sections are bullshit (wheelie's is the worst shite ever), but for a cursory glance to just get the gist of something it works.
I hate walky like everyone else, but I feel the site works better as it just works quicker, to me personally.
