Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search with kanji and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned.
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World too.

Totally forgot Architect was coming this month and I'm still not sure what to do with her. Thinking of mixing her with Duraga to make some kind of knight or maybe mixing her with Kagutsuchi Otsu (Or Tieren Ground if I want to deal with Gundam swapping) to make an armored sniper.
Or perhaps I should go silly with it and mix her with a Lapierre. Any suggestions? What's everyone else doing with theirs?
>Kotous web store cancels tan Materia for 'unforseen circumstances.'
>Write an angry response about how unprofessional it was that it took so long and now I have to pay nearly double the price on the aftermarket
>It's actually cheaper on Mandarake including shipping.
I mean, I'm still angry, but at least it's just in principle.
>>5587962
>lapierre
it's "rapier", just for reference. all those flying FAs are named for implements of stabbity death.
rapier, stylet(stilleto), khanjar...
baselard and it's offspring are slashy as well as stabby, so you have baselard, cutlass, zulfiqar (that being the baselard+extend arms version. I had to look it up to know wtf it was.)
>>5588083
I thought it was supposed to be a portmanteau of lapine and rapier
>>5587962
>and I'm still not sure what to do with her
Do what I do. Stick the box on a shelf and never build the kit. [I'm sorry Gourai!]
Im having fun swaping parts.
>>5588186
>>5587962
>What's everyone else doing with theirs?
Sword and board.
I'm going to give her Stylet's blades, the two knives, and mount shields from some busted up old Gundams on her left forearm and shoulder. Don't really know which ones to use, though. Probably cobble together some sort of booster pack for her back.
I also have a shit-ton of loose beam sabers, so I was thinking about making some sort of holster or bandolier for them.
>>5587962

I intended to finish sewing this for easter but ended up getting sidetracked. Oh well, bunnies are always relevant.

Thank you! The white fabric is just a fine jersey. You can't see in the photos, but the hood is also lined in the same pink fabric as the inner ear, which is a very thin cotton. I just starched the shit out of the fabric before sewing which makes things a little easier.
As for a pattern, I would be happy to post if I had one! I just kinda put it together on a trial and error basis. However, I can draft together an improved pattern if people are interested.
>>5588489
Please do if it isn't too much trouble. No need to rush either.
>>5587962
Maybe I'll go and tighten the shoulder joints so she can carry heavier stuff.
I'm also getting that new architect frame for limb options.

>>5588489
Do you think you'd be able to do commissions in future? This is the cutest hoodie i've seen!
Quick question. I'm colorblind, so are the FAG skin colors all the same, or are they just different enough that it would look odd if you, say, used a Materia's upper arms on a Gourai's body?
>>5589366
They're the same.
>>5589097
thats only for water type shinki you IDIOT, those are impact absorbing gel reservoirs, you're so stupid.
>>5588949
What paint did you use on the silver parts of Materia? I mixed some gunmetal pearl pigments and gloss medium I had lying around and the results weren't as good as I'd hoped. I used acrylics on the white and black (still no teal accents yet) and it turned out fine.
I like this picture, btw. I can imagine her saying, "Nuh-uh-uh, senpai, you must give me what I want."
>>5589097
This looks clean. I dig it.
>>5589366
They're the same, except that Koto Webshop pink/white Materia with an awful fake spray tan.

Why don't you make your Shinki some damn pants before you start making shit for others?
Do Gabrine and Renge ever appear for less than 10,000 Yen? I kinda want them (albeit I'll be making some clothes for them as I don't like how...exposed they are) but I've only ever seen them once and that was for a lot of money.
>>5590260
They used to be pretty reasonable, but they've shot up as of a year ago.
>>5590239
https://matadora.booth.pm/
Woah, looks like that one, the blank body, some accessories, and spare faces are instock.
>>5589960
I've used chrome silver acrylic from Tamiya.
When I get materia white prepped I'm planning to either go with titanium gold or mix a little shade of gold leaf with chrome silver.
>>5590248
Pants are optional, anon. Does your shinki have pants?
>>5590356
Good to know. I am thinking of trying some leafing (glue+sheets), but unsure about how well it would do on something that scale. I'll test that on some of the leftover parts still on the runners.
need some help guys. I am recasting mms 1 chest pieces, and while the chest itself is coming out great, I am stumped on what to do about those tiny hooks that latch the chest onto the body. they are just too tiny to not be copletely ruined by tiny bubbles that form because of the curve not letting them float out.
So anyone who has recasted or made custom chest pieces for mms 1 shinkis, what do you do about the hooks? Or is there some other way you can attach the chest snug?
>>5590790
Ignore the hook nub things and use a bit of blutack to afix the tits. That's what I've done with my old Arnval and Valona who's hook things went missing. Non invasive, reversible fix that I forget is even needed most of the time.
>>5590812
That's a shockingly simple solution I am shocked I didn't think of yet. Thanks mate
>>5590812
I should look into that. my vitulus' bigger rack has suffered a case of "hooks not glued in place properly" and I'd been trying to figure out the best choice of way to reattach the hooks, but if some blutack will keep her tits where they belong...
>>5590577
There are chrome films from Hasegawa that you might want to look into. Likely a lot easier than gluing on sheets yourself.
http://www.internetmodeler.com/scalemodels/nrtools/Hasegawa-Trytool-Finish-Films.php
>>5590790
You could just pull the hooks off and cast those separately, they're just glued on.
Alternatively just make your own using plastic plating.
>>5591177
You're going to have to make a 3 part mold for the heads.
You can pull the joint out without any damage with a revoltech plier and some hot water.
>>5591181
thanks again, was hoping it would not entail of removal as the last time i used hot water i accidently warped an at st, but whateverr works best
>>5591255
If you warp something, you can warp it back. With hot water.
Also don't use fucking BOILING water, just hot.

First time using taobao and I tried buying a couple of these via taobao focus. But they cancelled all my items with the message:
> cancelled Item is cancelled because the seller is never online or shop is probably closed.
I'm sure people here have bought from this guy before. Anyone know what's going on?
>>5591619
Don't use taobao focus, just order them yourself and try talking to the guy over alichat or whatever.
You don't need a middleman for taobao anymore.
You can find a guide here:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWR_zQYfkSepEUzB9qS9yc7_YmCbka243
Use google translate or their in-site translation tool (which is also google translate). It works fine.
Chatting, google translate works well between Chinese and English, I was able to communicate directly to the seller and hold a conversation about how much we like shinkis via the in-site chat program and google translate.
If you live in the US, you might not even need to try and get in contact with the seller and just use consolidated taobao shipping or whatever.
>>5591619
I had taobaoring cancel my order too. By the way, that listing is simply the pre-order price. I do have a tall blank body on pre-order with this seller, however, I had to pay full price upfront. Taobaoring didn't take issue with that and they didn't have a problem contacting the seller either. That was literally a week before as well.
Got Howling in the post today. Whilst her articulation in armoured form leaves something to be desired, and her paint is a tad sloppy in places, overall I really like her. And for £12 including postage I can hardly complain.
My biggest complaint with her is that the stand, whilst a necessity due to her top-heaviness, is only good for flying poses. I've assembled it such that she can just about get her little paws on the ground, but she has to lean forward a smidgen.
>>5592045
Guessing she is your only shinki? Now take what I'm about to suggest with a grain of salt as I only have a light armor stand, not a full size one,but you might be able to jury rig up so extra bits that attach to the stand arm using a combination of the extra connection bits she should come with, as well as the sprue/runner they come on. The spruces are the same width as the pegs for shinki gear. If you have anything like Lego technic stuff, you could potentially modify some elbow tube joints into accepting the pegs and thus be able to add links and bends that allow you to get her lower to the ground. Of course it might be easier to make a whole new armature that is a lot shorter, but I don't know how heavy howling is and make break simple attempts.
again, no experience with that kind of stand, just throwing out the first ideas that came to my mind.
>>5592074
Nah, I have Espadia as well. Thanks for the advice anyway.
>>5591692
How much was the total price?
At first i was like...
...But then i was...
>>5592081
240 CNY for mms3 tall body. No head. I don't even think the listing was specifically for that. It just seemed my middleman worked something out with the seller. They offered a head for a little more and some free decals too.
Do you guys know a good place to get waterslide decals? Specifically waterslide decals of cherry blossoms? I need it for a thing I'm doing that looks good in my head but will probably look like shit in person.
Blue or pink?

>>5593804
Thanks!
but really,, why arn't they showing up when i search "Picco neemo"? is there a bunch of other stuff ive been missing over the months?
>>5593821
Amiami has a brand category for all of AZONE's stuff, but you need to filter the 1/3, 1/6, and 1/12 stuff.
In other news I customized my Lirbiete with the spare balljoints and small pigtails from a Custom Lily. Pics later once the protective coat on her chestplate dries out properly.
>>5593821
Because AmiAmi, like the entire nation of Japan, can't into web design.
Do a search for picco neemo, pick one of the cloths which shows up, then browse the category it's in. That's what I do. It's always all sold out anyway.
Does anyone know any good books on sewing/making doll clothes? I'd love to make some clothes for muh Shinkis but I have almost no experience in sewing, though that is something I'd like to change. I know that 1/12 clothes do exist but I like making my own stuff.
>>5593894
The sewing is reasonably easy, it's fitting the patterns that's the real work.

Getting good at sewing isnt a hard, you just need a really thin needle and a really small thread.
>>5594757

>>5593827
Me again, I finally got a pic of my custom Lirbiete. She seems to like Zielbellen's custom Pico Neemo body a lot.
I think Lirbiete likes her new twintails a lot.
Honestly the climate around here did a number to her chestplate, the paint got kinda damaged by the heat and humidity so I had to coat it with a layer of clear nail polish. Also she's my oldest shinki, maybe not the hottest or the most adorable but she's still a good shinki.
Zielbellen's custom body is a 2.0 pico neemo 'blank' made from a generic custom lily, I got her a set of military clothes. Got her other head on her normal shinki body so she's now "twins" with herself, hahaha.
>>5595045
This statement is bullshit. Regular cotton thread is fine. A small needle is preferable, but you certainly do not need specialised needles and thread to be sewing at this scale. However, your actual stitches will need to be scaled down a bit.
>>5593804
Most importantly, find relatively thin fabric with a high thread count. Fine knit fabrics are also ideal and don't frey as easily. There isn't a particular type of fabric you should be using. If you have a fabric store nearby, you should be able to find something suitable by seeing the different fabric types in person.
>>5593894
I don't know of any books that focus on 1/12 scale off the top of my head. They probably do exist, but looking at tutorials for regular size clothing will be a good start. You can apply a lot of the same techniques at a smaller scale too.

Took some snaps of the Howling I snagged on eBay. I call her Fenella. Here she is pointing her big ol' cannon (which I have dubbed the Howlitzer).
>>5596776
Here she is with her lighter equipment. She's actually a lot of fun unarmoured, especially with the tonfas and throwing star...chakram...things.
>>5596779
And here she is being cute, as Shinkis are wont to do.
>>5596780
And because why the fuck not, here's a shot of my Espadia, Tallulah, serving cakes in a cute dress and hat. She doesn't seem to like it very much.
>>5596783
Closeup. The hat, dress and cakes were all from a doll's house shop. The dress is not the best fit but cute enough. The hat fits literally perfectly though.
>>5596822
Hello new friend. Quite a few have named theirs, but others still prefer the model names or derivations thereof.
>>5596822
I started naming mine because it felt weird calling bright feather, bright feather all the time. If she looked Native American I may have been fine, but as it was it felt more like a model name then a character name, so she is now Brigitte.
>>5596822
You can, if you're creative or remember them all. I have 20 Shinkies and only 5 of them are named (My Good Girl, Tempesta, Xiphos, Lemuria, and Lavina). Everyone else I call by part of their name but that means I have a Meri(enda) and a Mari(celes). I have an Air Dominance I wanna name but I have no ideas.
>>5596822
Some do, most just call them by a shortened form of their model name. I call my Valona Val sometimes, but by her full name other times. It's all personal preference and how waifu you wanna get.

>>5603700
Yeah, she's looking better and better. I dig the blank legs, tights, high heels and the cute little bunny tail.
>>5603706
I love how they went full shinki mode on her, almost like a dry run for later. There is quite literally not a single thing I dislike about her right now. They went with the better butt, she has unarmored legs, I love her theme, and she just looks nice. My only concern is that I'll end up buying way too many of her for limb swaps and customs I'll never get around to.
My only concern is how they'll do the legs. Will the armored and unarmored legs go up to that mid-thigh seam? Or it almost looks like the knee joint is different here. Maybe that detaches? I hope it's not an either/or thing.
>>5603753
From what I see, the armored leg parts come from gourai/stylet plus the new baselard parts, while the unarmored legs come from materia with new high heel feet.
Kotobukiya is generous enough to give you this much extra parts from previous releases.

My plan right now is to grab the Grave Arms kit and two more Impact Knuckes for Maximum Fist.
Do Stylet and Gourai have the same proportions?
What kind of fabric would you use to make a blouse for a FAG?
>>5605248
There are a lot of online fabric stores that will send you free sample packs. A few years back, I managed to get about 20 free packages from random online stores. Some swatches were too small to work with, others were of suitable size. But hey, it's free. Give it a try.
>>5605955
A very thin cotton or polycotton should be suitable.
>>5603665
is thatone of the MsG weapon sets or is it from the "little Armory" line.
>>5603831
Those legs are from neither gourai or stylet
I'm only here to post my photos
>>5607836
Oh and I recently got the gym body for my Murmeltier, super cheap alternative at 5k in comparison to the 13k for flesh body if you aren't gonna dress your shinki up in lewd wear.
>>5607860
Gym body? explain.
>>5607865
These, alternatively for any skin types under Strarf/Arnval, you have their swimsuit bodies for cheaper alternatives to flesh bodies.
>>5607868
They sound like they'd be fairly rare. Can't be cheap.
>>5607892
I ponied up 5k yen for mine, whereas a standard blank flesh body is about 13k, by those standards it's quite cheap to achieve the same illusion with my shitty fashion tastes.
>>5607695
Of course not the lower leg. Only the lower thigh and knee joint.
Not that it matters anyway.
Now waiting for pre-orders to open or see what Koto online shop exclusive we might have.
>>5587946
How much less would a Shinki be worth if it was missing a face?
>>5608998
Depends which shinki and which face
>>5608973
I see some for flesh bodies for 5k yen but I need to buy that shit from SAHRA instead of being able to go down and buy
>>5609055
Lunaria and the face is the regular one.
>>5609218
By which I mean her neutral smiling face.
Richigo you do resells in the UK right? By any chance do you have any gourai left?
So a friend got me a matadora figure (pic related)
Except he made a goof, and didn't realize the manual would be in japanese, and I can't read it. Does anyone have any experience with these kits?

Mostly I'm unsure of how these screws are supposed to go in. This is the page that seems to picture it. Am I just supposed to put the screws into the plastic? Or do I use some kind of glue.
>>5609354
The lowest row appears to show how to create a seamless screwhole-free seal.
The measurements for the screws and surfaces seem to be talking about tolerances for fastening stuff.
>>5609358
Thanks. anything helps.
Also here's the entire instruction manual if anyone can made heads or tails of it

There are a bunch of silicone tubes that came with the kit, 3mm with 1mm hole, 3mm with 2mm hole, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm.
Most of the screws go with some silicone tubing in the joint to maintain friction.
Learn hiragana and katakana. They're handy in situations like this, especially the latter, and you can probably do it in an evening.
>>5609480
Okay that helps a little, but does the screw just drill into the other side? or is it glued?
>>5609484
The kit uses no glue, I have the same one.
Everything is affixed by screws. You just need a pinvise woth the corresponding width and you're fine. Every place that needs you to screw will have some mm measurements there and the word ネジ
For screw and シリコンチュブ for the silicone.
Just follow what it shows in the page with a slightly smaller hole than the width of the screw and you should be fine.
>>5609518
Oh and the mms for the screw usually means how deep you need to drill. It's something you need to keep in mind.
>>5609523
Alright thanks. And for the plastic tubing do I just cut a section off of the corresponding size that it requires?
>>5609529
Yup. But they're going to be in teeny slices of like 1 mm sometimes, so make sure you have a sharp knife.
Got Strarf Lavina and Lancamento in the post yesterday.
Lavina is a mixed bag. On the one hand she looks absolutely awesome- she's like a 6" tall demonic robot overlord. Her accessories kick arse and I love her colour scheme. On the other hand, there's things I don't like about the MMS 3rd body- the replacement of the balljoint at the base of the neck with a hinge is kinda lame, and getting the "vests" swapped is a fucking nightmare. Also she comes with a fucktonne of parts, and getting her armoured up is terrifying, mainly due to all those tight pegs (the thigh pegs are frighteningly tight). Also there's some paint blemishes here and there, which kinda sucks. I love her but I won't be fiddling with her much.
Lancamento is loads of fun. Some paint errors (which seems to be a recurring problem with Shinkis- my Espadia's paint is beginning to chip in places) but overall the QC is pretty good. The beetle mode for the armour is a lot better than Espadia's, and her faces are adorable. Heracles is a little awkward (the heels seem somewhat unnecessary) but looks awesome overall. The only design element I dislike about her is the "armoured" chest piece, which seems a bit ludicrous to me.
Still, overall very solid purchases. I'm calling the Lancamento Clara but I'm not sure about the Strarf Lavina. I'm considering Algol (as I'd originally planned to name all my "evil" looking Shinkis after stars) but it sounds a bit...manly?
>>5610340
the thigh armor connectors on the strarf Mk2 mold are pretty absurd, yeah. I wound up trying to carve out the socket a bit. for expensive game-package exclusive molds you'd think konami would have had someone at the factory pay attention to tolerances, but it seems not.
>>5610340
Have fun anon.
Just saw that someone in the BST thread has nekkeds on the cheap. Very tempting~

Strange.
>>5610806
I'd call BS if there wasn't such a specific release date. If it isn't up on amiami by Monday, I'm still calling BS. I guess there is a chance that these guys just work through the weekend.
>>5610866
Was that picture released before? I didn't see it.
>>5610806
>Arnval stands just under 8 inches tall
wot
>>5611156
Probably means with her armor on.
>>5611164
Have we seen her with unarmored legs?
>>5611166
Nope, but it's probably a safe bet she can be unarmored.
Shinki fans would riot otherwise, and plus, they wouldn't have a reason to put that knee joint as they did if the armor couldn't be taken off.
>>5611166
Oh, and we HAVE seen a naked Machineca body, so it's not like we have no precedence for unarmored limbs.
>>5611176

>Erica, Gertrud, Eila, Sanya

Their names are in order, right?

That's not actually their names. Anon was just comparing them to strike witches.

I know the recolors all have their own names, but I always think of them as Shinies first. Like Lavina is Shiny Strarf.
Just me?
>>5612104
From what i recall Lavina is a Strarf MKII with a more pleasant personality just like Tempesta is an Arnval with a more aggressive personality, that's what it said in their bios i think. Cant confirm if this was reflected in any form in Battle Rondo because the game died two monts before i got my first shinki..
How come no one ever brings up the Mobile Suit Girls in this thread? They're very similar to Shinkis
>>5612178
I have her and she's rubbish. They fall about if I look at them wrong. I think its the crap factor which means they're never discussed.
>>5612120
I think it's something like that. I know Maryceles Lemuria acts like a spoiled child compared to the normal's batshit crazy personality. I have a pic of the Tempesta bio if anyone wants to translate it
>>5612178
They're notoriously rubbish
>>5612182
shinkies have issues with parts staying on. I think its just brand loyalty and hipsters
>>5612206
Nothing like as bad as the Mobile Suit Girls. Plus the figures themselves aren't as poseable and their characters aren't as fun as shinkis.
