Double jointed elbows means they can actually look at their wrist computers. Another thing people don't mention often is how sturdy they are, they're much higher quality than the older bodies, you'd have to try really hard to break the limbs on these guys.

I have both Borgs, and both of them were loose right out of the box. I had to stuff their crotches with blu-tac and paper to stop their hips from moving on their own. I think that was just a bad batch of figures to be honest, a lot of people have this issue with Borg, which sucks cause he's one of the best designs.
The AvP preds are really solid. In fact they're a bit stiffer than I'd like them to be, but better stiff than loose, right?

They're fine, but they don't have as much of a deep tilt movement to them as I'd like. Still, Kratos is a ridiculously well done toy, and well worth picking up regardless.
I finished Crysis 2 today.
Forgot how shit the last 'boss' was, if you can even call it that.
Still, Crysis is probably my favourite game from the past decade, I never get tired of playing it. Probably cause it's like being a predator :^)
I would have loved some Ceph and C.E.L.L soldier figures from Neca, it's a shame they only made Alcatraz. He's a great figure, you wouldn't expect this level of articulation from a 5 year old Neca figure.

The hip joints are stiff as hell, but the peg they're mounted on is super gummy so they often flex outward from the peg instead of actually rotating. It's a little worrying but mostly floppy. Also the ankles have great range, but they're super loose on mine, so I've usually got him on a stand a la the first pic.

However, this batch is barely any different from the last, two figures are literal background characters who appear for about 30 seconds each, and one is just Scar with a mask.
Most people already seemed to have a "pick and choose their favorite" mentality out of wave 14, so...
I mean, I'm planning on getting all three for sure, but so far the AvP figures all look nearly identical. I'm not saying that's NECA's fault, it is just the nature of Predator designs for that movie, but it makes for slightly bland looking toys.
Most people are looking forward to other figures using that body like Scarface and the Kenner Clan leader.

So I just bought a bootleg NECA (for customizing purposes). Is there anything I need to be careful about? I've heard stuff about figures being painted with lead or some such so I was just wondering.

I haven't heard anything about lead paint before. I recently bought a Big Red Predator and aside from some minor stuff (sheathe was unglued, wrist blade was backwards, lower knee joints and waist were paint fused but some heat and movement freed it up) he's very solid. I don't know how you would be able to tell if the paint was lead-based or not, it looks pretty normal (other than the leg paint being kinda sloppy I guess) and it doesn't smell weird or anything?
Someone else said it's possible or likely that the bootlegs aren't really "bootlegs" but are factory QC rejects or something. Which is possible!
Apparently the older Dutch and Jungle Hunter bootlegs can be spotty or even trash but my Big Red is good, and I assume City Hunter is too. Holding out for them to make Wasp next.

Yeah, once I heard Scarface and Clan Leader used the AVP bodies I skipped out entirely. I'd pick up one of them if I could somehow combine several of their distinct elements (I like the long wrist blades from Chopper and the unmasked head on Scar, etc.) but that's not gonna happen without buying all of them, and screw that.
I might get the Temple Warrior, he has a good load out and I like his head the best. I think Masked Scar probably should've been in the last wave and done Unmasked in this one, but at this point there's no excuse not to have had both heads in one box.

I just got my 1st predator figure. My only previous Neca figures are Otachi and Big Chap. I try not to buy online because I would buy way too many and I don't have a lot of money right now. I stick to buying from what my local Toys R us has. Really feel like I missed out not picking up the red xeno I saw.
Anyway, the Toys R us just had a full stock of the AVP predators, and I picked this guy up (they had a full stock of the alien isolation figures too, but I already have big chap, and I dislike that dome) He's really great.

God, I can't decide if I love or hate the look of this. On one hand, love the colors and proportions. On the other hand, the plastic looks weirdly gummy and soft...kinda like he's made of the same gummi material as Gushers. The sculpt looks a little mushy too as a result.
The panel lining is also confusingly sloppy. Lots of pooling wash in crevices (like on the top of the head) and a generally incomplete look all around. Maybe this is technically more realistic than the clean, even panel lines people do on Gundams, but it looks rather shit. unfortunately.

Randy seems to really want this line to work, so hopefully it'll expand with other iconic vehicles from other franchises they haven't touched upon yet. It's kinda hard for them to re-use the same sculpt like they do with Aliens/Predators so who knows if it'll take off or bomb.
On a related note, I know George Miller is an asshat when it comes to letting companies make Mad Max figures, but I'm hoping he'll allow Neca to make some vehicles like the Interceptor and the Gigahorse from Fury Road.

Otachi had to be packaged in a large box just because it was actually big. Axehead was in a reasonably sized box as well.
The only major retailer that carries these things, not counting little comic shops and whatever, is TRU. And I've yet to see any TRUs not actually carry these big ass Kaiju. I doubt this one will be any different.
As far as the stands go, that's some really weird logic thinking that this figure coinciding with the stands is on purpose. Those stands are basically the size of the Tamashi or Figma stands. They're for smaller figures, and will be fine for NECA's 7" stuff, but there's no way in hell one of those would support this big, beefy monster.
A streamer I like has been playing thru Alien Isolation and I forgot how good the game was.

Predators was work of art compared to AvP.
The predator designs were unique, there was a decent variety in the cast (Walton Goggins and Topher Grace were great) and the plot wasn't completely retarded like having one xeno take down 2/3 predators in the span of five minutes so the last one could become a mary sue.

I feel like Predators is kind of a rehash in that sense though.
Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Bill Paxton, the cheesy dialogue, the violent L.A setting, cool new predator weapons, all that good stuff.
Predator 2 was a fresh approach and a great sequel.
The part where the predator is toying with Harrigan in the cemetery was such a memorable scene for me, it showed how sadistic the predators can be.

It's very clearly Robocop/Verhoeven influenced. It takes place in the future (1997), it's in a city, there's a massive gang war, the violence, profanity and nudity are amped way up, there's even Robocop/Starship Troopers style news cutaways with "media satire" bent. It literally feels like a Verhoeven ajace Predator movie.
And I mean, that's by no means bad. It's a fun watch on any day of the week. But it's very clearly a different movie than Predator 1.

I mean, the only thing that connects P2 to P1 is a line of dialogue. Same thing for Predators to P1. They do well as their own stand-alone Predator movies, without having to bridge gaps to each other, which works fine.
I think the Predators were actually pretty cool in every movie so far, but the AvP preds were pretty lame. I think NECA actually did a pretty good job of making them look badass in toy form. Most people hate the stocky, football-linebacker look they had in AvP (so did I) and NECA specifically went out of their way to avoid the toys looking like that, which I think a lot of people don't really realize.
