Working on the pearl and I am trying to find a fig that would work well at the front of the ship. Now it is more of a sand green colour but I am thinking the weeping Angle from the lego ideas tardis set would work well does that sound like a solid plan or should I scrap it.

There's a movie Spider-Man from when I was a kid at the edge of the screen. Mile's costume is cool but he's sort of a placeholder until I get more Spider-Man stuff. The "Marvel case" is mostly Iron Man so I put the newest / nicest stuff on the top row that I like. I'm probably going to go for Iron Spider and the new Spiderverse guys from that bridge set coming out later this year, plus the MCU Spider-Man from the final Civil War set (if they include him)

So I did buy this set and I'm currently building it. Only detail I noticed is that the wheels feel a bit sticky to touch. Is this something I should worry about? I don't notice any signs of wear in the surface.
>>
>>5564630
If they were still alive I think my grandparents would be happy that I could flip a plastic toy for 2-3 times the original price. Heck after doing research I could flip the radar dish piece by itself for like $200. The lattice pieces used for the back are worth quite a bit too.

I'm not looking forward to putting the thing together though. I remember the last time I made the thing it took like 4 straight days to make

I mean look at these piece/price ratios
>>
>>5564681

if you're building it straight new from box, the wheels are fine. It's just a new rubber = sorta sticky thing going on. I remember building that set
>>
>>5564681
>Only detail I noticed is that the wheels feel a bit sticky to touch. Is this something I should worry about?
It happened to my rubber tires too, not sure what the explanation is for it. But i will recommend you store your rubber tires detached from their rims. My old 90s wheels are now almost impossible to remove from their rims now.
>>
Rubber breaks down over time. If you left a car with the tires on they'd rot away before anything else.

Can't reverse it permanently. Better to replace it with new wheels.

Yes, found this one with sealed bags and complete. I don't mind if they do end up attached to the rims as I have other wheels that I can reuse for other stuff.

>>5564700
I noticed that this set in particular uses a bit too much specialized parts (funny how people tend to complain about that on recent sets only) but there are some others that can be particularly useful for the price I got this set.
I'm not entirely sure I will keep the build as it is. 4-stud width for big vehicles is not exactly my cup of tea.

LEGO's own battle packs have always been $15. The last castle battle pack which just had four generic soldiers (and there was another one with four generic bad guy soldiers) were also $15.

Funny thing is, LEGO's own battle packs are always $14.99 and just come with four figures and a few accessories, while the SW battle packs are always $12.99, and come with an 80~100 piece build as well.

>>5565152

Basically just exude enthusiasm for LEGO, but not Neckbeard-iness. When someone asks you what to buy their nephew, know your product ranges and age-ranges. Don't seem like someone who's in it for the small staff-discount.

LEGO stores look for clear communicators. especially to kids.

Also their's a great chance that they'll get you to build something and pitch it to them, make it fun and full of features, capture a childish imagination. Not a high-detail scale model of a corvette.
>>
>>5565208
>I'm a dude
Who cares?
>>
>>5565208
>surely they'd want somebody familiar with all of the inventory?
Nope. You always get informed of stock, told what the most popular lines are, what you should recommend to different age groups, how you should answer brand-specific questions, etc. via both your manager and the bible you'll be required to read through. You only need to like Lego, not know everything about it.
Managers don't want creeps that scare away potential customers, they want normal people who liked Lego as kids and thought working at TLG would be fun because it makes you feel nostalgic. Same reason why you don't see people who actually know shit about video games working at Gamestop.

>Same reason why you don't see people who actually know shit about video games working at Gamestop.
Actually a big reason for this is that GameStop centers a LOT of its marketing on in-store product promotion, so if you're the kind of guy who gives a shit about games at all they know you'll tell people NOT to buy certain products and then they don't want you.
I've had GameStop employees flat out lie to me about vidya before because they just want to upsell.

It would break my heart if TLS was the same way

damn every time i see vehicles i feel like this series gonna end faster then Lego Chima.
People dont like series of NOTHING but vehicles.

Its a good fucking damn Castle Series only with technofantasy attached to it.

1) you can make a MiniCastle that transforms into a robot
2) you can make a monster-beast for Lava guys. Some sort of Dino Riders thing - only with monster with guns attached to it
3) You can make smaller robo-knights to fight on the side of that King's Mech.
4) You can make just "Castle Buildings" things only smaller than castle - for guys to hang out at those outposts/camps. With videogames and crossbows. Same for lava guys.

YET THEY KEEP DOING BORING BLUE VEHICLES! STOP! THIS SERIES HAS SUCH A POTENTIAL!

The Capes thread died but I wanted to show you guys the museum dioramas I made for it.

From the dawn of time, there's this giant mollusk type thing that once roamed the Presystem oceans. It's very imposing to minifigs.

When I was a little kid, I saw a giant mollusk shell of some kind that was big enough for me to easily fit inside and it blew my mind and got me interested in early sea life, so this was a lot of fun to build.

I didn't know how much usage this set was going to get so I put a fair amount of detail (for me, anyway) into making it look like a realistic museum. The most prominent aspect is the intrusive air vents that break the immersion the exhibit is trying to create.

So, I'm currently working on an improved version of my Swampert MOC, and I would like to know what /lg/ thinks about it. It's missing a leg and some pieces are place holders but it should give you an idea of the finished look.

To be fair I haven't seen much done for the thread challenges this month asides from one post for the factions idea. I figured the Gattai one would lend well to the aspects of lego and /toy/'s love for Mixel Joints. The brick separator one is kinda hard and a bit too specific, and there's no reason the Wall one should still be there

Also I finally finished my thing for the Gattai challenge after holding off for like two weeks, so I'll probably post pics of it tonight
>>
>>5566468

Fine, I'll give an actual critique.

Overall your Swampert is pretty excellent. It's instantly recognizable which is the most important part when building a replica of something. You've captured the shapes accurately, the only thing that looks off is some of the color placement due to the limitations of some parts.

I would try replacing the 1x1 tiles on the fingers with 1x2 curve slopes to try hiding some of the black handle part. Also if you're able, try experimenting with replacing the grey mixel joints in the hips. I recommend trying pic related in the thigh with a full size ball attached and putting the sockets inside the body if there is room. Shame about the grey on the cheeks but I can't think of an alternate solution. The orange spikes are too good to replace.

Also I would love to see you continue making pokemon.
>>
>>5566491
Do you know when they've been used that way in official sets? feels like a one piece to me, too.
>>
this is the oddest superprezent so far.
>>
>>5566520
It's literally two pieces, senpai. You're not going to damage them by taking them apart. The only part I think you woul damage by separating is 1x2 plate hinges.

Also 2x2 plate turntables didn't always ship in two parts.
>>
>>5566530
yeah, I know. When I got a handful of turntables from a PAB wall those were considered two pieces. But I'm curious whether there was ever a Lego set, or official anything, that only used the lever base.
>>
>>5566483
>Pretty sure they're not.
>If they were, they would come disassembled like the 2x2 turn tables, and the hinge pieces.

Both turntables and hinge pieces have come unassembled.

Thank you for the thorough critique. I've just tried replacing the 1x1 tiles on the figers, the curved 1x2 does mean some of the black of the structure part is hidden, but also the hands would be pretty big looking in proportion to the body, and you would loose articulation. It would work if the MOC was bigger, though.

I uderstand the grey being an eyesore on the legs (though I think the arms are more of a problem in terms of coloring) and using a full size balljoint would actually help since the hips should be able to maintain all the body without the arms helping (but it's pretty obvious having the model in hand that it won't be capable of doing that) but since the body is 3 module large, the only way your method would work would be to acually use double Y connectors from metru's thighs for example, which, if my memory serves me right, doesn't exist in blue, and I would need to rethink the body from the ground up. I think I will at least buy some mixel ballcup in dark grey since they come in the Super Hero Airport Battle, so the grey match up with the secondary colour of the creation.

Thank you very much for your opinion, please don't hesitate to tell me if you find something else that you don't like or think should be modified, it's of great help.

Also, here is the flygon model I've worked on last year, I may need to work on it again to improve it.
>>
>>5566550
Yeah the Flygon needs a bit of work to be as good as your Swampert imo. I'd try scaling it up just a pinch to make the hands, head, an wing/tail patterns look better.

QUESTION FOR THE ROOM

Trans-Medium Blue. One of the three fluorescent Lego colors. It's been around for a while, but have they changed it at all over the years? I recently bought a minifig head labeled as trans-med blue, but what I got was sort of bluish-green and not reactive to blacklight at all. I don't know if the seller mislabeled the part or if this is what TMB looked like in the past.

Anyway, the whole point of this post is to ask, "Does anyone here have the trans-med blue chainsaw that came in the Alpha Team 4748 Ogel's Mountain Fortress, and if so can you put it under a blacklight and tell me if it glows or not".

This is the only picture of MBTC I could find.

Look at pic exampled. The rocks are real props which make the set appear as if it is infront of you. Notice how the angled lighting makes it seem as if it really is sunset in scene.

Now we just have some lazy green screen of sets with cheap photshopped backgrounds that don't even feel accurate.

Speaking of PolandBro, Canada friend here.

Would anyone want to middleman between myself and PB? I dunno how to make it worth your while, but I hope we can work something out.

I'm thinking

I don't know if that's cheaper though, but whatever.

>>
>>5568136
Be truthful. ARE you trying to jew this person out and want /toy/'s approval?

If you're being honest, just go and get in touch with your seller. Most would rather solve a problem than get negative feedback themselves. They want you coming back to them, after all.
>>
>>5567608

I asked clerks at my post office, the package didnt return.

>>
>>5568142
I am not. I want Kai's Mini Dragon because I want the flame pieces and an army of red ninjas for my Nexo Knights to fight.

Then get in touch and see if you can work it out. I'm sure it's a resolvable situation. Negative feedback from an actual seller tends be a last resort.
>>
>>5568136
contact the guy and you'll probably get a refund, or the missing sets. That's happened to me every time I had to complain, BL sellers tend to be decent people.

Speaking of complaining though.

I think adding effects is fine, but the source photograph has to be fundamentally sound. It sort of looks like you set your vehicles on the floor, squatted over them and snapped the photograph using the ambient light. As a result, a lot of detail is lost in the vehicle in the lower right. From the file name, I take it that these marauders are driving into some sort of explosion. Explosive fireballs give off lots of light, so you need to add a secondary light source coming from the left of the frame (the source of the explosion). Finally, it looks like the photograph is cropped too closely. The vehicle lower right doesn't fit into the frame. Try "pulling back" a little bit to get the whole thing into frame. If you're going for more dramatic effect, then get lower to the "road," warrior.

To recap:
>think about light sources before editing
>consider the frame when cropping
>shoot at the angle with the greatest visual impact
That last one usually means taking more than one photo and then looking at them with a critical eye. Effects can enhance an image, but they can't make up for its shortcomings.

One last thing: The "cracked earth" tile(?) pattern would have made a much more suitable backdrop for the vehicles.

Some. I've got some brickwarriors and brickarms things, the quality is pretty high. Same as Lego, really. The one problem is design, some of their stuff is so detailed it clashes with the minifigs.

That's what throws me off with some of these things. Lego has a simplicity to it, but some of these third party pieces look lifelike. Like the Plague Doctor's robes here - It's just -too much- compared to other minifigures.
