Hold me, /toy/. My house was broken into while I was gone a few days ago, and among other things, such as my computer, TV, several pieces of jewelry and such, they took almost all of my Lego collection. I had many sets, most from Star Wars. I had several thousands of dollars in those sets. And now I can't get them back.
>>
>>5362718
Damn, that really fucking sucks. Were you able to insure them?
>>
>>5362718

Sounds like your parents are just trying to get you to grow up. Nobody steals a fucking lego set.

Sounds like you'll just have to learn to... Lego
>>
Hope you had insurance
>>
No, seriously, nobody steals a lego set.

Your parents took them.
>>
Don't worry anon, it's just Reverse Santa Claus.
>>
>>5362758
Except LEGO is one of the most stolen toys, because people can easily sell it for a decent amount of cash.

Hell, I worked at the TRU warehouse (for the online store) one winter, and credit fraud orders have always either been 1. multiple video game consoles or 2. multiple, high-priced LEGO sets.

as someone who got robbed this past summer, i feel your pain. they didn't take any collectibles from me, but they still got some nice things.
>>

I was just reading an article earlier talking about how Lego actually retains and increases its value better than gold so I wouldn't doubt it.

Damn shut them up didn't you
>>
This reminds me of the stories I've heard where people were unlucky enough not to have anything worth robbing, and instead people trying to steal from them just trashed their collections. Pretty sad stuff.
>>
>>5362718
Hang in there anon.
Maybe you had some photos of your collection to show to your insurer ?
>>
>>5362850
technic's are the main big sellers and one of biggest hobbies as collectors will be atleast 3x the price a few years after being created
>>

>>5362718
I'm not surprised. There's been a sudden swing of articles about Lego being valuable going around Facebook since before Christmas. Assholes probably sawe it right before hitting your house.

Somewhat related, we had a string of robberies in my home town. The never successfully hit my house (they tried to at least once, but were idiots and went through the window of my brother's blackout-curtained room, where he was currently awake and chilling with his hunting dog), but they did hit a friend's who had some toys and even clothing disappear along with the regular electronics. This pattern seemed to go through a lot of their thefts and seemed sporadic since it wasn't necessarily high value stuff. When they finally caught them they found the thieves were basically shopping for their families while robbing the houses, taking toys for their kids, clothes, and even home goods and knicknacks that they thought their wives would like.

I made a gif for us OP, I was going to use it in a scale modeling thread though.

You really should beat the fuck out of him. Preferably with his favorite figure so he knows why he's being beaten.

I would but he's actually at my grandmother's house out of state right now. At least I found my Millennium Falcon and A wing, as well as a small complement of some of my figures. My X-wing and snowspeeder are still unaccounted for as are my noble team set of halo reach figs.
To add insult to injury though non /toy/ he managed to kill my entire aquarium and now its just snails.

Thanks for your sympathies, friends. I was able to acquire a few old printed photos of some of my sets, but not even half of my collection was in them. My sorest loss is probably my two Naboo Fighters, which I got from my parents in 2000. Luckily they were photographed.
>>
>>5366864
I'm sorry anon, I know its not the same but I would maybe shop around to replace some of them. At a store in town they had a ton of episode one vehicles, they had a couple droid battle tanks and also boba/jango's slave 1. I almost bought them.

why would anyone steal legos? they literally hold no moneyary value, not to mention; why?
>>
>>5367345
Another man's trash becomes another's treasure.

I'd say the robbers have kids or were fans as well
>>
>>5367360
true, but i'm talking about the common household robber, not the elusive basement dweller who sits all day looking shit up on the internet; which is %10 of the %100 population
>>
Just curious, how do you steal built lego? Unless the owner kragled everything. Otherwise it would just disintegrate like what Harrison Ford did to that Falcon on Conan.

I've often wondered if someone could steal my cintiq... the thing is f-ing huge.

Sorry you lost yours pal. They will get cheaper and more accessible in the near future.

The new iPad might be the next golden ticket for drawing on screens. That and the surface pro ain't too bad.
>>
>>5367345
I see you've been living under a rock.

And that you didn't bother to read the thread at all.

Do you know something I don't?
>>
>>5369471
Different anon, but it's just a rule of technology that it is constantly getting cheaper. The Cintiq 13hd that was 1000$ 3 years ago is now 800$
>>

Shut up you contrarian faggot. Starwars is immensely popular, has neat looking characters with an abundance of cool figures made by several toy making companies. Do you have some sort of anti fun meeting to go to?
>>
>>5371710
Could you sound anymore like you're trying to convince yourself?
>>
>>5371725
I don't know what you're getting at, I'm not trying to convince anyone. What's your argument here other than "stop liking things I don't like"
>>
>>5371741
Dude, I don't know if you're trolling or really an idiot but if you can't admit that Star Wars is the for the plebiest kids and retards then you have some serious issues.
>>
>>5371755
So you have no argument whatsoever. I bet you collect McDonalds toys.
>>
>>5369814

You can, but in a long and costly process.

First you must keep the receipt of each buy and especially keep your collection in their unopened packages and in good condition, in case of toys with antiquity a certified appraiser attesting to the value of your things in if your collection is worth exceeding $ 10,000 to
$100,000 maybe, just maybe some company might accept sure.
>>
>>5371767
Trolling it is then. It's reassuring.
>>
>>5371779
You still haven't explained why you don't like Starwars or what you like instead.
>>
>>5371817
Go troll reddit, I heard they like it there
