Bump limit reached, old thread here: >>5306378

I finally updated my display photo. Largely the same, with a few minor additions. I think I'm at capacity with this Detolf and it's time to move on to a second one.
>>
its not a rifle its a shot gun.

Dude, you've been at capacity in that one lone Detolf for over a year now...
>>
>>5345786
this looks good anon! Even if its quite a lot in it, you posed them well imo
>>
>>5345786
Jonathan Joestar and Dio are looking pretty uninspired there.
>>
>>5346008

Yeah I haven't come up with a better pose yet. I was thinking of putting Dio upsidedown and Jonathan attacking him.
>>
>>5345786
>Akarenger
I wish his cape wasn't such absolute shit because it ruins any chance of giving him a cool, dynamic pose.
>>
>>5345786
4th picture down, where did you get guts middle Guts figure? In the armor that I am forgetting the name of/
>>
>>5346912

Berserker armor Guts. It was an exclusive Figma. Kind of expensive to get a hold of now. I swapped the helmeted head with the regular head that came with Black Swordsman Guts. I also made a custom cloth cape.

I'm forever trying to make a halfway decent looking Digimon display. I've got Sora and Joe coming in the mail soon. Can't wait to have the G.E.M. figure set complete! God knows I've spent too much on them already. For real, though... I'm constantly battling between the thoughts of "Let me try to make a pretty, but somewhat simplified display" and "Screw it, I'm gonna showcase as much Digimon junk as I can on the same shelf" (This isn't even all of it..)

If anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to make this better, please let me know!

Off of ebay for 90 bucks. Its a series 6 Shadow. For some reason, its the only one in the line to have a red stand and different packaging.

Why do SHF Kamen Riders look so stiff? They look like good quality figures but something just feels strange. The Jojo figures look so much more lively, like they're in motion.

I don't think there's an older version. Kamen Rider 3 or Sango is from the movie that came out earlier this year.
>>
>>5347162
I'm not too upto date with rider stuff but he sounded like rider 2 so I figured he was an older rider with that name. I have rider 2 and he's been in his box since I moved a year and a half ago because he just isn't fun to fiddle with like new one are.

That's the bandai soul of popynica gunship. It's not a model. Not everyone is a fan of the updated design though.
>>
>>5348938
Not the guy you're responding to, but it seems like it'd be a pain in the ass to have to move your figures around every time you want to play a game or read a certain book.

I can understand having a framed or sleeve protected book or two to act as a background for a shelf, but having figures in front of multiple games/books that are obviously still in rotation just makes zero sense.
>>
>>5348612
spidey and bats displays are the best out of all of them. still its all pretty neckbeardy but w/e
>>

>>5348610

>>
>>5347977

Literally every figure is posed in the most bland, boring, lifeless way possible. It's almost a work of art how boring your display is despite having a ton of potentially dynamic figures. Good job.
>>
>>5349615
I've since boxed them up and stored them away. I got really lazy the last 8 months and amassed to long boxes worth before I eventually put them away. Once the bottom shelf fills back up with books I'll take an updated picture.

I feel like it can be done decently on occasion, but I also am a little biased. It's just a matter of space for most anons that are guilty of doing such a thing. I understand where you're coming from though.

takeya's stuff are the only revoltechs that are worth it, aside the stupid joints, they all seem made by another company...and honestly, I hardly ever see them discussed.

>>5350643
they'r buddhist, not hindu
the sculpt is great, painting too, decent posability but I prefer them in a statue pose
what you see is the whole line except for garura, I dont like it, maybe I'll get it someday
the price is really cheap for the initial five, but then they got bigger and rarer, the worst one is fudo, the one with the flames stand, it goes for at least 9000 yen
>>
>>5350643
forgot about one question
well, I live in japan, I love going to temples, and I can say that my ignorant interest in this stuff was dually fueled as more as I went to temples, AND as more as I got these figures

I think the reason I got interested at first was because they reminded me the temple mission in gantz

My god maybe you guys can help me.

I am in dire need of a display for my figures, the dust is killing me. I have figures that range anywhere from $50 to $300 sitting on my shelf "My most recent is the kitsune gal from Muramasa's Blade"

I have next to zero room for anything in this tiny pathetic room, outside of a bed, an a desk.

So I am looking for smaller shelfs, that can accomidate larger figures "13, maybe something I can sit on a desk horizontally? Or a shelf? Anything to help keep the dust off these things.

Detolfs look good as single units and in pairs, but after a certain point it's ridiculous to have so many. If you have enough high tier figures to fill the amount of Detolfs you bought, you should have invested in actual good store-grade display options. It's like having an armada of trailer park homes when you could have just bought a mansion for the same price.

Judging by your post, you are an idiot on top of having bad taste.
>>
>>5376377
Post your display or leave. You are critical about one's taste which is entirely opinion based. Calling someone's display shitty taste, when you haven't posted your own, and when your own posts indicate that your own tastes are questionable in nature, doesn't bring anything to the thread.

Also don't get mad that I pointed out you like anime and bugmen, don't be embarrassed about what you like kiddo. Post your display, if you even have one that is.
>>
>>5376420
I already posted my display and I did get opinions on it but unlike you, I can handle them so I didn't throw a hissy fit about it. Grow some balls faggot.
>>
>>5376424
ok which display is it?

Also let me clarify, I can take all the criticism in the world if you actually gave out real criticism instead of saying "you have shit taste". Once again retard, that isn't criticism, that's a differentiating opinion.
>>
>>5376435
Dude, you're such an idiot, I can't believe I'm still talking with you.
>ok which display is it?

>>
>>5372629
>>5369933

>>5376424
I'm not the guy you've been arguing with, but I'll chime in on what he's saying.

Too many times on these collection threads, you'll have people who won't offer critiques, but harsh criticism. Both of these things are based on someone's opinion, but the difference is that critique offers advice on how to improve, but the harsh criticism is only made to put someone else down.

For example, I could look at >>5372835 and say something like "Hah, you must be a poorfag. Only using shitty Detolfs huh? Good luck with all that rattling. Cheap Ikea shit, lol". That's criticism. I'm basically making fun of the other guy, insulting him, and making no effort whatsoever to offer my opinion on how to actually IMPROVE his display.

However, I could also say "I think those are way too many Detolfs and it just doesn't look that good to me. I'd probably only keep 2 of the Detolfs and use other shelving for the rest of the figures". See, THIS is critique. I'm not putting the guy down, I'm offering MY opinion as well as how I think it could improve. However, if I'm being totally honest, I think having 8 Detolfs across the wall like that looks fucking cool. I wish my room could accommodate something like that...

So do you see the difference between critique and harsh criticism? Going around saying "Lol, shit taste!" is bound to ruffle a few feathers; even here on 4chan. I know a lot of people like to use the excuse that "This is 4chan, grow some balls", but that's a cop out. This place isn't nearly as bad as its reputation would lead most people to believe.

And if it matters any, I posted my own display in the thread a while ago. It's >>5369822 >>5369826. I used to post in collection threads a lot, but I stopped since I'd basically NEVER get any critique, and only vague criticism for apparently "flaunting" my collection and rubbing it in people's faces (whatever that means).
>>
>>5376460
Again, if you can't handle it, don't post ITT. You're on 4chan, grow some balls.
>>
>>5376484
Not him but it's not about handling it you fucking manchild. Sure we can handle it, but harsh posts are just useless. And here we are again, actually critiquing why your posts are bad, and you come back with more harsh criticisms as why we should just "take it". Yeah we'll take it since this forum allows any retard to post, but it doesn't mean your posts are quality.

Face it. You're a shitposter.

>>5376490
I so agree with this. I'm constantly suggesting risers, Tamashii stands, and flight pose stands. They help make every figure visible. Also, I don't have a container store around me like >>5376503 suggested. But if you type in "acrylic riser" on ebay, you'll literally get HUNDREDS of options. You can buy a set of 3 different sized risers for like 9 bucks shipped.
>>
>>5376503
Hmm, I do, thanks, I'll check that out later!
>>
>>5376509
True, cool. I may buy another stand or too, I'm kind of running out of them. Will also probably get the Tamashii energy aura.

I had bought my first set of 3 risers from Amazon for like 10 bucks and I love them. I'll go check out the store out of curiosity first though
>>
>>5376511
Well, like I said, I don't have a container store in my area. But I visited my brother in Atlanta last summer and they have one around his apartment. Based on what I saw (and bought), there wasn't much of a variety, and it was like three times the price of the shit I could get on eBay. I bought like 4 risers anyway, though, because I had never seen the big, long risers (n-no homo) on eBay...so I figured it couldn't hurt to have more variety in my display. I'd actually like to get one more of the big ones.

Oh, and also look into flight pose stands (flightpose.com). I know you don't have any air planes or space ships in your display, but if you ever do buy a few air vehicles, flight pose stands are a god send. I've got 4 so far and I use them for 2 of my Lego air craft, my Batplane, and SG Starscream.

You anon, have completely missed the point of this thread. We aren't here to argue about one anon collects over another. How autistic is that? This thread is to post and discuss HOW you display your collection. Now WHAT you display. You could display dragon dildos and My Little Ponies for all I care but if you display it well, I'm not going to shit on you. Unlike you, where you autistically went through the entire thread and posted about everyones displays yet you haven't posted a single constructive thing about them but say they are shitty.

I agree with this anon in terms of risers and various stands. I try to make every figure as visible as I can. So far I've accomplished that with various Flight Stands I've aquired as well as the stands that come with my Marvel Selects. Those things do a great job of causing the figures to be displayed at different heights, and it really makes them look a lot better than a bunch of guys just standing in a line.

Pic related is a pretty good example of how I made my display a little more dynamic by having the figures displayed at different heights.

Wow, the risers made a world of difference. That Mario display is especially kick ass. But yea, I'd change the poses of the DBZ display. I usually model my DBZ display poses by rewatching an episode or two and mimicking the characters' poses.

>>5377858
Except I haven't posted my display in damn near a year. Maybe someone way trolling the thread softly with my display sort of how some other guy's display was used for trolling purposes last year.
>>
>>5378938
Thanks! Yep, super happy with the risers, it adds so many possibilities that I'm nowhere near done with my displays. But yea I am happy with the Mario one so far, nice and simple but pops!

Definitely will repose the DBZ shelf, those are definitely quick poses but yep, again, very happy with the space created from the risers. Good idea about watching a couple of episodes to get some ideas, I'm going to do that!

Also don't worry what ppl say, love your display and don't mind you posting it...Good for inspiration!
>>
>>5378955
>Also don't worry what ppl say, love your display and don't mind you posting it...Good for inspiration!

Thanks, glad I'm not coming off as snobbish or however I was apparently perceived last year.

I guess I'll just add some more pointers since this is possibly the first time there has been some decent dialogue in a collections thread and an anon actually took someone's advice to improve their display. I only started collecting DBZ figures 7 months ago, and some guy in a DBZ thread gave me a few pointers that really helped my display:

-Have at least one display shelf with a full on brawl going on
-Use effects parts every now and then (Ki blasts, explosion effects, flame/electric auras, etc)
-If you buy Brolly, it's mandatory that he's displayed fucking up at least one other figure on the shelf
-Watch episodes of DBZ to get character specific poses done right. This also helps with nailing neutral floating/flying poses since DBZ kind of has its own style of floating/flying

Just some things to think about. But your Mario shelf is damn near perfect IMO. If I were a Mario collector, I'd definitely get WoN Bowser and Peach and use your setup as inspiration.
>>
>>5379226
Thanks again so much! Definitely love the input and excited to at least try out all the pointers!

Definitely agree about a full on brawl display - right now they're all just in
'pose for the camera' mode, but I'll have to make a fight going on. Luckily I got at least one villain (18), although I can defect Piccolo if I need :).
Definitely going to get at least one more Tamashii effect to go with my ground one. Ki blast most likely, and I really like how the clear wave looks, to go under flying characters.
No Broly unfort ;(
But will definitely be watching some classic DBZ when I get home tonight!

Thanks about the Mario shelf! I definitely love the 2-story type of display, especially with the warp pipes, it makes it feel like actual space. Definitely want to do more with it, but leaving it alone for now to avoid clutter.

Mostly trying to think what to do with my Nendoroids. I don't like them being stuffed away on the bottom. May just find another space for them for now!

Glad to help!

Also, you may want to look into some baseball bat display cases to use for your Nendos. I've seen people use them for Amiibos and they look pretty good. I personally use them for my Zelda collection.

Pic isn't mine, but you get the idea. I bought two from Michael's this year. They're not too expensive, and the best part is that they can hang on your wall and they have glass "doors" that protect the figures from dust!

Hey, awesome, thanks a lot.
That picture does look amazing lol, those amiibos...

I saw some Baseball bat displays at The Container Store actually, right next to the risers I bought. I'll do some thinking first, and perhaps go back there! Definitely sounds like a good idea, although I may wait for my January vidya nendos to arrive (hopefully no delays!) to fill it out more. Thanks though, will definitely consider!

>Those Persona shelves

Nice.
Makes me kind of regret selling my Labrys and Yukiko...but I needed to downsize / trade in for my Gravity Daze figma, and as much as I love Persona, I don't need a whole shelf for it... but that looks incredible.

What are the cards mind if I may ask?
>>
>>5379308
The cards were from a deluxe edition of persona 4 arena ultimax, pretty sure they're really easy to come by online.

I'm praying for some January delays, this month is insane.

Where did you get that baseball case? Is there any lining on the interior? And did you install those LED's or did they come with the case?
>>
>>5379292

Fantastic idea, I'm in love with this display

I said in the original post that I got the cases from Michael's. http://www.michaels.com/studio-decor-baseball-bat-display-case/10174362.html

The picture I posted isn't my exact case, though, since whoever owns the case in that picture installed some LED lights. They don't come with those lights.

Also, the interior isn't lined with anything.

Pic related is what my old setup looked like in the case and what the case looks like stock, without the lights.

I like the SRCs. Do they still sell that effect set anywhere aside from rape-priced ones?
>>
>>5385664
Thanks!

The Shin Getter + Mazinkaiser effects set? Try Mandarake. I got mine from there mid-November for ~$50 shipped.

Tips would be helpful instead of pointing out the obvious.
>>
>>5386561
Have Asuna's legs in a wider stance and her sword arm fully extended so that it actually looks like she's striking the big daddy's drill arm.
>>
>>5386561
Does asuna's stand come with a clip? because if it can only peg into her back you might want to flip the entire display so she blocks the stand more and you can utilize it for a lunge pose.
>>5386605
pretty much this but have her right arm straight and the right peg raised with her knee bent, her left hand will be up near her cheek since that's kind of her thing when using a sword, her left leg will be straight back as her push off leg.
For kirito just bend his top leg so it looks like he is actually jumping and not just falling down. For sinon she should be sort of jumping backward to get some distance from the big daddy.

That is at least how I'd set up the display with these characters.
