QUICK UPDATE
Now I understand why that last thread went by so fast, Grinchanon showed up to spoil everyone's fun and people got baited.
OR SHOULD I SAY SUPPOSED GRINCH ANON
I went down his list of names that he claimed to contain the names of the people he grinched and checked it against the list of people that have signed up. I even checked all the variations of names against what he listed (so he listed a "Mike" and I checked for names like "Mike, Michael, Mickey, etc" on my list). Of course, just by pure chance, there were a few matches. We have about 100 participants and he listed 28 names, it was gonna happen by coincidence.
Then I checked my list for all of those supposedly-grinched-people's Santas and wrote them down. I then looked at my email conversations with all of these Santas who could potentially be grinch anon, and there are not 3 of them that live anywhere close to each other based on the shipping information they gave me.
I AM 95% SURE THAT GRINCHANON IS A TROLL AND HAS BEEN LYING THE ENTIRE TIME
Of course, my detective work means nothing if he was lying and didn't include in his list of names the people he actually grinched, but based on the smugness in his post, I would believe him to actually include the names if he were real.
He will probably say I messed up or that he did lie and will continue to spread his troll mischief in the threads, please ignore him.
Also, if your name was on the list please do not worry, he did not grinch you because he isn't participating. Please buy a gift for your assignment if you haven't already, don't deny a random person a present because someone completely different pretended to not get you one.

I love and appreciate all of it. I've never had a minimate, but these are really neat, I'll probably pic some more up in the future. And it's funny because this was the only Freddy figure I didn't own but still wanted. And I've never tried flying anything like this minidrone, but it looks fun and I'm excited to try it out. Ok me and my FIANCE just finished decorating the apartment all Christmas-like, and I'm done reading through all the posts I missed over the past couple days.
I've decided after seeing people's concerns to go ahead with doing backup Santas.
The way this will work, over the next few days I will contact everyone who mentioned wanting to be a backup Santa to me (if you want to join in and haven't sent an email about it just email me at [email protected]) to make sure they are still interested. If by January 2nd you have not received your gift, email me. I will attempt to contact your Santa and if they do not respond in one week or cannot provide proof of shipping, I will add them to the grinch list to be sent to the organizer next year. Your info will go to a backup Santa and I will never check the secretsanta email after that. You may get a gift from your backup Santa, you may not. They will be no minimum price limit. There will be no communication with me as an intermediary. They will send your backup present when they can.
I was apprehensive about this plan because I feel there will be greedy people who try to exploit the system (and figure out a way to fool me I haven't thought of preventing) and there might still be someone who doesn't get a gift after two chances and will be doubly disappointed. However, if it makes one more person happy at the expense of a couple more threads of salt, I can deal with it.

ALSO I am considering adding a Nice List along with the Naughty List (what I'll call the Grinch List) with the names and info (if people would be ok with that? maybe just city?) of people who participated this year and I have proof they sent a gift. That way next year's organizer can know which anons are trustworthy to avoid false accusations, and can maybe pair up people who he/she knows will gift, leaving newbies to be paired with each other.
I dunno. It will be up to next year's organizer what to do with it, if anything. I just thought it might make things a little more positive for people knowing they made it onto Santa's Nice List.

Customs are a real bitch. Sent a parcel from Canada to the states for my /co/ santa pool, was in transit for about 11 days and a solid week was spent with it frozen in customs. Plus because of transit hubs and shit the package actually got sent in the completely opposite direction to the west coast and then all the way back across the continent.
After it cleared it was delivered almost immediately though.

For the record, I actually am in Canada, but I myself have sent Kinder Eggs to the US in the previous two Secret Santas I participated in.
I'd say as long as you're confident it won't get screened by customs, you should be fine. I also sent them in a separate "extra goodies" box from my main present as a way of making sure that at least my main present would be fine if shit went south.
The worst thing about being grinched, well aside from being grinched, is that everyone expects you'll grinch your Santee next year.
