I'm into Transformers and I love to do silly customs.
My neice had a broken MH Frankie doll. Her right knee was broken. She asked me to repair it. I told her I couldnt do much but I'll either try just gluing the leg together, or try to give her a Transformers knee. She accepted.
So I gave Frankie her knee after an hour of work. I test it out once the glue was rock solid. The leg ASSPLAODED. The only thing to do left was to give Frankie full robot legs.
Once I showed my neice her doll, for some reason, she NOPE'd. So I traded her old doll for a brand new MH Frankie, Skull Shores Island B&W edition. She was glad.
Looking at my attempt to revive the old Frankie doll, I felt there was so much more work to do. So I did. Here she is, a completely reconverted Frankie!

It's probably why this one is also non-poseable as well - that it is a play set. I've debated on getting the non-poseable dolls and keeping the clothes as well as the heads (i keep forgetting you can buy the arms separately from mattel.)
The only thing that would keep you from switching arms out might be the nubs or connector pieces. I wondered if the arms allow full range of motion - or they further hindered it by avoiding putting a balljoint.
So I picked up a jane boolittle bloom n gloom, and man I hate her lil rubbery hands and the body has seams everywhere. Does anybody know if her original doll uses the old plastic/mold?

It's the two CAM like dolls that are like two feet tall - not the 17 inch ones. When you go to the walmart package/site, i believe they say they are exclusive. The two large ones - a teal one and hte purple one - are sold out as of right now.
I havent heard of Elissabat being an exclusive to toysrus, but they have her first. I havent seen many of the 17 inch dolls in major retail stores - but i know that the main three (Clawdeen, Frankie, Draculaura) are all on their websites.

I think her FDC doll was coloured grey because they were trying to make her looks like she'd stepped out of an old black and white carnival poster. FDC Twyla was coloured in a similar way.

So Kmart was having a sale on those BIG MH dolls for $25. I finally broke down and bought big Frankie waifu.

She's pretty great overall, no inherent problems. Her hair is a little fussy, it had some bits tangled in the packaging, but they're easily fixed. Faceup is solid, clothes are nice, great poseability.
Almost have all the Skelitas. I originally wasn't going to get multiples of her, but I couldn't help myself. She's do Damm cute, and she's the reason I collect MH.
I'm going to futile hope they make a 27" Skelly, but I don't expect anything.

Speculation is that these are internal mock-ups/brainstorming for the prototypes rather than anything they'd show to buyers. You can see that the "packaging" has no tie-downs or supports inside, it's purely photoshop framing around the prototype dolls.
It all looks like shit though, even within that context. Moanica looks like they zombified Venus, and it makes no sense for her to be in a pack with Draculaura instead of Ghoulia.

I noticed that i like basic clothing for the girls, there's nothing like regular clothes in a line that has an emphasis on dressed up pieces. A lot of the Monster High line has either sports/beach clothes or prom dresses. I personally would like to see more winter clothing, basic pieces like with their regular school attire. I've seen people saying they think they're EAH bodies, but I don't see it. If they are, that'll suck for redressing in future. It'll also suck if that means the line is going go to the same direction as EAH, because they're really failing with that one.

I'll wait to see the final versions, because prototypes do generally suck, but the MH line has definitely started losing my interest in the past few months. The Brand Boo Students were cute as hell, and I'll be getting them when I can, but the GSR dolls had the potential to be amazingly cool, and added a lot of neat new features, but came out amazingly ugly for the most part. The new simplified dolls (the ones people are arguing are for underprivileged little kids?) are awful and their outfits only printed on one side. The Return to Skull Shorts/Ghouls Getaway line had potential to be really cute, but there's so much unpainted plastic that it's not even funny.
The thing that appears to be happening with these new prototypes seems almost like a reaction to the GSR line's craziness: they're really, really, really safe. They're rehashes of old motifs, colour schemes, and themes, but even more watered down. They've given Cleo bigger eyes, they've painted the face moulds so that the subtle smile is more obvious, and created one of the blandest new characters we've seen in a while in Dana Jones. And that's not even getting into the recent re-releases of old lines (swim class, dead tired) with items removed.
The pirate line, again, has potential to be great, but there are so many kinks they need to work out before I'll be sold on it.

Exactly how well did the Fusion line do? They're still on the shelves where I live because clearance prices aren't low enough for people to want them, but that doesn't mean they didn't do better elsewhere.
Either way, I feel like the Fusion line wasn't nearly as ugly as the new ghouls in GSR turned out to be. Peri and Pearl are awkward to begin with, but I've read reviews that they fall over constantly. Posea was pretty enough, but her lack of legs seemed to turn people off so much that they were looking for rebody-potential in other dolls. And Kala was just a hot mess of a colour scheme. She had the potential to be really cool, and then they just slapped moulded pieces together with minimal paint and a few decals and called it good.
There are also those rumours being generated by that "phonecall to CostCo" post, where the buyer supposedly claimed Mattel is going to soften the edge on the brand overall. The larger eyes on the dolls, and the toned down eyeshadow seem to support that, but it could also just be a coincidence.

It was on the MH Dolls.com forum (link is considered spam). Here's the text that was posted:

I managed to find a Peri and Pearl Serpentine at Walmart when I was finishing up Christmas shopping so I bought her.
I absolutely love her, but I did notice that she has two left hands. Is there anything I can do about that? It looks kind of awkward with her having two left hands. Is there a way I can contact Mattel and maybe have an extra right hand shipped? This is actually the first time I have ever had any issue with the Monster High dolls.

From the look of the new prototypes, it's almost like they're trying to merge the EAH and MH lines into one property. Add that to the Astranova cross-over thing in the novel, and it becomes even more of a possibility. Regardless, a lot of the changes so far had been clearly cost-saving (fewer accessories with dolls, more moulded plastic items instead of sewn clothing, etc.), but these new changes, not so much. I saw a lot of angry remarks about Nefera's Boo York doll, because her skintone didn't match the old doll's and that made swapping her gloved arms for plain arms impossible. I also saw people angry that her eyes were made larger and less "mean" in shape and rendering. They appear to be going that same route now with the Cleo and Clawdeen at the very least. The other ghouls already have fairly large eyes, so it's hard to say if they've changed much.
There were also rumours a while back that said MH would be switching over to the EAH body moulds in a big brand reboot, to allow better cross-promotion between the two lines, and everyone discounted them as ridiculous and highly unlikely because EAH doesn't do as well as MH. With the way these new dolls look, I'd no longer consider that change nearly as unlikely as before. If they're willing to go through the effort of creating new moulds that have no articulation, but more raised detail, I wouldn't be surprised to see them swap bodies entirely in the next couple of years.
