Just got my hands on that base version of Grimlock, I thought I'd like him more, but that dino mode does leave a lot to be desired, maybe that's because of the fucking amazing looking Planet X Grimlock they did, I'd get that, if it was within my budget.
I think the AOE grimlock is a better figure (though this one does have better Robot arms/hands).

FoC Grimlock is honestly the best Grimlock toy in ages (not counting MP's). Yeah, he's got the big hollow chest, but it's to fit in the dino bits in robot mode, and both modes look pretty good as long as you're not staring directly into the chest hollow.

Unfortunately, there's not really any modern g1-style Grimlock toys besides MP, FOC, and Classics, so I suppose that's not too hard to achieve. Then again, maybe we'll eventually get Generations Dinobots. I don't know what's holding them back- they're far more iconic than most of the combiners or any of the Headmasters for that matter.
I guess I'll wait until Hasbro makes new Terrorcons to retool into them in god knows how many years.

Speculation says that Legends Gears was originally going to be Brawn, but Hasbro didn't want to have two green guys in that Legends wave (other was Acid Storm). The head for Gears certainly looks more like Brawn's than anything.
Brawn was also supposedly a "cancelled" Legends figure along with a Legends Sharkticon.
Maybe we'll get a new mold that'll be used for a Legends Brawn/Outback.

On top of that, one is a rotor style helicopter, the other is a turbine style. And one's a triple changer. It's got more than enough differences.
Speaking of Fun Pub and Machine Wars, just grabbed the 2013 Botcon set for $140 shipped from the club store since the three figures I did want (Strika, Obsidian, and Skywarp) cost the same alone, and apparently Megaplex goes for like $70 on ebay so it should be somewhat easy to flip some of the cost back.

Honestly, I'd scrap everything and make a new Windblade that only caries vague components from previous. Working with keeping the wings as outside, but nosecone and cockpit form part of the chest. Legs would instead be modeled after a turbine which split in half to have skirt armor and the actual leg parts acordion out from it, with feet being fans with two folded together for the front of the foot and 3 being used as heels kind of like how Whirl's are and a attached by a swivel joint.

They choose to mold it in one piece. However, for the injection molding process, you need to keep the part below a certain thickness (ard 3mm for transformers). Thus the 1-piece parts have to be hollowed out in some places.

The steel mold is still 2 halves, but the weapon itself is made entirely out of a single component. If they want non-hollow, large weapons, they have to make it out of 2 or more components.

I'm hoping it's something I don't have or a vehicon because I loved buying multiples of them and they were the best of the line. If it's an extra I do have, I might trade my own and keep the one my friend gave me. I guess being Prime line isn't too bad as long as it's not Airachnid or something.

First time I've ever looked for Transformers on Ebay, and it's just awful. It's either all over priced, or horrible mutilated at a horrible price.

Mostly scalpers, the few decent ones are ruined by postage as they bump them just past rrp.
Second hand ones are always a concern since they charge them off the same as new ones in some cases, better off with mandarake or yahoo auctions if you want a second hand bot otherwise stay away from ebay

I bought a Cybertron Prime that was "slightly dusty and missing chestplate and accessories" and found gum inside of the spot where his head slides down into for transformation. Yuck. Thank god I bought it to be used as a junker.
