CW Leader Starscream, or alternatively, buy a few cheaper Decepticon figures?

I don't have a Starscream yet at all, and the only cheap one is the Armada version with the non-traditional color scheme. The others are expensive as fuck to the point if I am gonna get one, I might as well get the CW Leader.

Or I could buy a team of mismatched Seekers for about the same price as CW Starscream.

This guy would make a pretty good Impactor with a few remolds.

How big are Cybertron Prime's arms compared to Powermaster Prime's, in terms of both length and bulk?

I'm awaiting on devastator. I haven't been this excited about a toy in a long time. I've ordered the PE set for the elbows too so even more awesome.

I'm just excited to pose him with my deluxe classics prime.

He gets overlooked too much, and this may be an awesome chance to display him properly.

Is this that older OP that's about legends size with the trailer?

Favourite Prime is still RiD2000 Prime/Fire Convoy.

His core robot mode is great (shiny chrome chest and fake windscreens aside), his power up armour mode is awesome. All his armour parts have something to do when they're not in use by making up a base mode, and the combination with RiD2000 Magnus for Ultra Prime is still one of the best super mode combinations.

>CW Brawl possibly confirmed as kinda of shitty edition

Seriously
How bad is it?
Cause from the video, I see nothing that can be use to plug the hip to the torso. And not to mention the 2 stumps beneath the torso that are blocking the hip hinge bars.
>>
>>5288880

At this point people are hoping something was seriously wrong with the fig or the reviewer was too stupid to transform it properly even in the update video, but the outlook ain't so good unless he got a factory defect or theres something everyone is missing.

I'm kind of disappointed. Brawl isn't a favorite or anything, but honestly, the CW line has been pretty solid so far. The Deluxes have been good on the whole in my opinion. Theres been a few technical issues (Motormasters hips, Defensor's chest tabs), but otherwise the biggest complaints people tend to have is the repaints. Which, lets face it, Transformers as a toy line has always had shitloads of, so I barely even count repaint complaints as actual complaints anymore.

Brawl just seems kind of unacceptable as is (beyond his role as a leg piece anyway), unless something was terribly wrong with the figure that guy reviewed.

>>
>>5288942
I gotcha. I have the feeling if it is truly some horrible mold issue Takara will do something about it anyway.
>>
>>5288960

I dunno about that. My Menasor is UW and has the fixed hips because of it, but they're still kind of just "alright". Menasor's main problem seems to be he's top heavy as a motherfucker. Plus Takara never fixed the voyager Blitzwing's problem either, or at least, if they did no one told me.

On another subject, what would be a good price for the FoC Seekers new or used? Looking at some shit on eBay, and I've found a few lots for both, and seeing a lot of high numbers here, which makes me wary.

He made his own Coke commercial and put it in front of a couple of his videos, and even claimed the videos were "brought to you by Coca-Cola."

I think that's exactly what he was expecting. I think he thought that if Coke saw his ads, hey'd sign him to a sponsorship deal.

I think at the time Coke and some other companies were actually directly sponsoring some Youtubers. Dipshit Paul thought he was on that level and could get some of those big Cokebucks just by making his own commercial.

>>
>>5289335
Prime- looks complete, probably unbroken(trailer hitch?) but the stickers are worn and the bumper has chrome wear, so about $50 at most.

Galvatron- no accessories, especially not the orange cannon. Not even the back piece. Sticker and chrome wear. $15 AT MOST if the electronics work, $10 if they don't.

Magnus- sticker wear and I don't see the shoulder launchers or missiles. Small fists included? Maybe $35. Thing is you can still get boxed reissue versions for around $60 so only die hard "it must be vintage" types will care, but it's missing pieces.

Megatron- has gun, but I don't see the green light. Sticker condition? Missiles included? Paint wear? Maybe $30.

That's all going based on observed eBay average values, don't pull a Pawn Stars and start demanding those prices. BST values will be lower and I can't see every detail from these pics.
>>
>>5289352
The prices you stated are pretty much what he should ask for.

I'll grant that Scorponok's a triple-change headmaster, but on a purely toy-concept level, 'Godzilla destroys the city by becoming one himself' just seems better. Plus if they ditch the walking feature, they'd be able to make Trypticon do more stuff.

They alternate between Bot and Con each year and given their prominence within each line such as the Thrilling 30/Dark Cybertron for Metroplex or CW for Devastator, the likes of Omega, Trypticon and Scorponok and such are probably down the list.

If you look at the comments about Titans Returns between Part 2 of a 3 part trilogy with CW being Part 1. I think there is a pretty high likelihood the next one after Fortress Maximus will be Unicron.
>>
>>5289736
What will part 3 be? Titan Wars seems to cover all -masters. I assume Pretender Wars is next, considering it's one of the main gimmick sublines of G1?

Or maybe we'll get Micro Wars, because of Micronauts returning and making a crossover with Transformers. Maybe it'll be a mix of Micromasters and modern Diaclone drivers (with all the deluxe figures and larger having cockpits integrated for pilots). I have a feeling that a Diaclone driver gimmick would be too similar to the Titanmaster pilots, though.

>>
>>5289912

While I'm not going to dispute the figures are pretty well done (except maybe Brawl, jury's out on him), they aren't completely perfect. Superion is far and away the best, Defensor is in the middle but has kind of funky hip joints and the crotch ladder messing with his posing, and Menasor has the weakest overall hips and is a bit top heavy.

They're still really good. They have a lot of articulation, they have the right looks, they're awesome as fuck. Are they perfect? Nah. Worth owning? Fuck yes.

However, Hasbro did some really fucking stupid moves. Making original gestalt members exclusives in the US? Fucking retarded beyond belief, and heavily encouraged scalpers being massive shitfaces. Not redoing every G1 gestalt? Annoying. I want muh Predaking, and I'm sure someone out there wants the rest we're not getting as they make way for Headmasters 2: Electric Boogaloo.
>>
>>5289878
I suppose one redeeming factor is that fan boys don't know they have any children, and disregarding the truth about Transformers , perhaps the new films didn't do as well initially.
Guess we weren't supposed think Steven Spielberg was gonna let Magen Fox Stay in the films once she compared him to Hitler. I think that deeply hurt him in the end .
>>
>>5289932
The exclusives were stupid, but as far as every combiner? They were more than likely going with the most well known ones. There are still those who, even though g1 and animals, refuse to accept beast formers.
>>
>>5289908

As a very lucky kid who had damn near every Transformer ever made in the US (and subsequently had them destroyed by asshole parents who threw them in a fucking attic), and played with them extensively, G! toys were....Alright. They rightly earned the name "bricks", because most of them had little articulation beyond some arm movement and whatever was necessary to transform them. Later waves of figures were better, sure, but most of them are really shitty compared to the range of articulation modern figs have.

Much as I treasure my old stuff, I'm not going to let nostalgia blind me. It's pretty piss poor held to a modern standard.

Well for the most of 2013~2015 releases might not hold a candle to the G1 toys cause of their shitty quality but to anything from 2005~2012 they are kinda better especially the CHUG/Cybertron stuff. Even the movie toys till DOTM were still quite solid.

I really think we can call the stuff from 2005~2012 as the Renaissance of Transformers before it became the dark ages again due to Hasjews going cheap again. Jews ruin everything.
>>
>>5289969

The same way they made half of the vehicles. You make a set of Predacons for Predaking, and then remold/repaint them for the rest of the animal combiners.
>>
>>5289908
>a more expensive G1 figure
>mfw pre-AOE movie stuff has risen in price
I mean, I could buy a couple of MPs, sure, but they look like children's toys.
>>
>>5289981

Also with the bonus of making an animal themed set for Skylynx and his combiner form.
>>
>>5289908
Some of it also stems from them not having nostalgia for it. Most G1 toys have aged like milk and have better alternatives out there.

I own PM Prime and Soundwave, and they're fun, but their lack of articulation kinda puts me off sometimes.

idunno, I feel like G1 toys are not really to play with like how you would play with a normal action figure.
Closer to vintage toys, really.

>G1 transformers are vintage toys, it's a fact
No.
>>
>>5289988

G1 toys have a certain aesthetic to them that really takes some effort to appreciate since modern toys do many things better. Plus it's different from other vintage toy lines where the new reboot is basically just the old toy done with modern tech- the new toy often looks radically different because it's sticking more to Dery's cartoon model or the Japanese animation than to the toy while also sticking in all that articulation that everyone expects PLUS the need to actually transform. In many aspects modern stuff gets it easier just for making the on-screen character better resemble the toy from the start.

There's nothing wrong for appreciating G1 toys for what they are, but a lot of people hate them for what they're not, or bash them because the animators made changes(the fact the Ironhide toy came first seems lost on so many of these idiots), while the die-hard "I never grew up" types hate anything new by default.
>>
Anyone else who would much rather have had a CW Predaking consisting of voyagers than Devastator?
>>
>>5290010
>No.

I think the fact they came out in the 80s DOES make them vintage toys.
>>
>>5290010
I've seen some people put forth that G1 figures are more like puzzle toys than action figures. At anyrate, I do think its worth noting that there's still plenty of toys designed like G1 toys around, namely the Power rangers/Sentai megazords.
>>
>>5290021
vote one for me
>>
>>5290021
That wouldn't have happened. Devastator is now doubt the most well known combiner and Hasbro wanted something that would have a better chance at selling.

I mean it would be awesome to have both of them like that.

Though of course there will be complaints about that too.
>>
>>5290021

I just want a regular CW/UW Predaking. I'm actually surprised Hasbro didn't do Predaking molds, and then repurpose them for Skyfire (or whatever the Skylynx combiner would be called).
>>
>>5290021
Made by the same Hasbro that did CW Devastator?
Fuck no.

>>5290024
People treat things from the 90's and 00's as vintage.
The word means nothing at this point.

>>5290030
>I've seen some people put forth that G1 figures are more like puzzle toys than action figures.
And I agree.
The only reason transformers became an action figure line was because action figures tied to shows became the norm.
>>
>>5290030
They tend to have little articulation that isn't intended for transformation, and much of the extra is just for basic posing. Most of the Autobot cars lack anything below the waist.

For the most part they were designed as either role play toys with a bonus robot form(Microman side) or they were meant to be piloted mecha that had little driver figures with bonus camouflage vehicle forms(Diaclone). Not counting other random toy series that got thrown in, anyway.

We've seen some odd 3P add-ons like the Ironhide heads, which don't look right even if you turn the arms up. There was another Ironhide head & arm combo that looks good, but it didn't mesh well with the rest of the toy, and they're hard as hell to find now. If you want a G1 toon Ironhide, wait for the MP, and if you're on a budget, wait for the MP KO.

But really, no one buys a G1 Ironhide because they want a stand-in for the toon version. You buy G1 Ironhide for what it is, not what it is not. What it is is..... interesting, I suppose.

Speaking of which, as unlikely as it is, I'd love for the new Diaclone line to reimagine/update a lot of those designs as mecha, especially playing off the proportions of the old ones. i doubt it'll happen since the MP transformer line is covering the same ground, but I'd like to see the Ironhide diaclone as a mobile weapons platform, or the Lancia/Wheeljack Diaclone updated as a big, hulking mecha like a Starship Troopers powered suit. To avoid looking too much like the MPs, they could go the same route as the Diabattles update and give it a new transformation scheme and design, like its the newest model of that particular mecha.
>>

>Plus if they ditch the walking feature, they'd be able to make Trypticon do more stuff.

Like what? Walking?
>>
>>5289352
You are really anal about stickers and chrome, they look fine to me.
>>
>>5290085

Are... you me?

I suspect if anyone has a good chance of that, Ironhide would be the first candidate just because the toy and toon are so divergent that it would be a totally different toy from the upcoming MP. The rest, maybe, if they can make them look different enough to warrant it and if the line does well, I suppose, though toys like Prowl and Sideswipe weren't that far different from the toon so they'd be less likely.

Ironhide/Vanette should have a seat in the back for a pilot, but the seat should be swappable with a flat face panel. Funny enough, MP Ironhide is getting the toy face panel as an extra bonus in the vehicle mode.

E-Hobby eclusives are always expensive, even moreso than the normal Takara runs that tend to be ~25% more than the US retail releases. Plus, it's running with both the fullsize Sword AND the full rifle set of the blurr retool.

But I'm not completely blind, it's pretty clearly inflated because it's a super sought-after mold. I mean, even now used, complete Hasbro Drifts are running at around $40.

I would say, if you have a good version of the mold already, either Drift or Blurr, it might not be worth it, but for someone who missed out on the molds like I did the first time around, it's a no brainer to pick this one up.

>Where's the cheapest place to get him? I wonder if this is one that's safe to wait to get on Mandarake or not.

I bought my copy off HLJ, but i think they put it on Order Stop now. Keep an eye on it. It's still 5700jpy(about $50usd, give or take), but that's cheaper than you'd get it trying to middleman it from e-hobby itself where it's still 5000jpy.

Short of that, US retailers will probably have it up for around $70usd (which if you assume hlj prices and about 2000jpy ems isn't that much more) if you can get it shipped cheap/free.

As for mandarake, I can pretty much guarentee it will hit there within a few weeks of release, but that it won't be for less than retail.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Japan's supposed "bad guy bias" will keep him from getting too expensive, but I wouldn't count on it.
