Can we discuss Lego clones and why they are slowly surpassing Lego itself in both quality and price?

I mean look at the build quality of this Oxford set.
>>
shane Kreo was absoloute shit. not even megabutts can save star trek with all their fancy articulation

Kre-o is ass, but we'll always have godly korean clones of amazing quality.

i mean when was the last time lego made something like this?

Also ahah, holy shit, these guys actually made a historical set about on the korean war, featuring a sherman tank raping a bunch of korean villagers. They went as far as recreating historical pics of war atrocities on the fucking box.

Really? No way. It's a huge stepdown. Their own stuff is awesome in comparison to kreo.

>KRE-O is manufactured by South Korea-based Oxford and marketed by Hasbro.

What does /toy/ think of COBI? They seem to have awesome ww2 sets.
>>
I like it much better when companies make unique pieces, like animal heads. If it's just a set of regular bricks, i pretty much ignore it.
>>
>>5277007
Wow, those actually look super cool. Where can I get these?
>>
>>5277000
The sets are good, but the new minifigures are crap.
>>
>>5277010
Nevermind. Apparently there are only two or 3 sets available at the moment, and on top of that they look super expennsive.

They're make pieces and themes that Lego would not, and they're not weighted down by the little things such as copyright laws.

I found the extreme opposite of great fit in that brand: pieces that repel other pieces.

It could be just bad lighting, though I kind of like the reserved smile and the overall expression on her face. When viewed from a good distance, it makes me forget her lips are misprint.

I also like the balljointed neck and wrists. Good job on that, Sluban.

>>
>>5285921
The only maker as good as or better than SY is Decool.
>>
>>5276915
I read somewhere, but I don't know anymore where, someone reviewed different sets from different Lego clone companies.
He updated his site last year with more reviews and while some clone companies still make shit you wouldn't want if you get money for it, there are also companies who made bricks which were quite good.

Pity I don't know how his webpage is called.
>>
>>5286063
It's the Communist Lego pdf.
>>
I wouldn't say they're surpassing Lego in quality. Yes that Oxford set nay LOOK high quality, but it doesn't show the quality of the parts. In my opinion, Lego isn't getting beaten in terms of piece quality. But sometimes design can be a little lackluster.
>>
>>5286046
Star Diamond are the best, but they are hard to get, its only disadvantage.
SY are great but I don't like the white color they use.
>>5286184
They aren't. But brands like SD are really close.
>>
>Oxford makes a few licensed sets I want

People rate SY and Decool bootleg minifigs. They don't make many sets and those sets are mostly small micro fighter type things.

I've seen larger Decool Technic sets, but I am not tempted.

The one thing I haven't seen anyone here talk about is the brick quality itself. How do individual bricks hold up to Lego? Can you put a few of these bricks in a Lego set and tell the difference?

Tried reading what I write? MGB (which I think is Sluban under a different name) bricks have the weight, feel and clutch of Lego, but for some military sets use slightly different colours. Gudi look like lego bricks. They have perfect colour match and that nice glossy new lego finish, but they don't have the weight of lego bricks and a child would find them tough to assemble and separate. Enlighten, is ok. Many of the other Chinese brands are a bit shit. I don't know what korean brands are like.

My bricks are about half lego, the rest is cheap Chinese stuff. Lego bricks are always going to be the better quality, but for mocs you can do the bulk in clone brands and accent details in Lego and it looks ok overall.

My chinese knock off Jurassic World dinos tearing up a lego suv. The quality is good but the paints job on the claws is sloppy.

I like how the tail tips are rubber and super bendable, unlike the real ones.
