Lego made a pretty weird decision with those new rebel helmets. They really look odd.

Is it true that a smaller ship including Hera is coming? I really want her. Do you guys think this lady has a chance too?

Yes, you can see one of them has flesh-coloured hands.

Yeah, it's a trans-yellow piece of plastic permanently fused to the main helmet piece.

>>5273408
They are weird, but it's really the decision of the guys behind the movie. I like the way they look, as well as the arbitrary chinstrap piece.

They looked pretty generic to me when I first saw the action figures pictures. I didn't expect the lower part to lift up.
I also thought the visor was printed on the minifigs' heads.

These troopers have pretty bland outfits too but it works better on the minifigs for some reason.

I'm actually really excited for all four battle packs for the first time ever.

Probably most excited for the resistance one, the only disappointment is the lack of printed legs in that one. But it's understandable because of the super groovy helmets. Hope those guys are badass in the movie.
>>
>>5273535
I opened the shell car wash set from 1999 a year ago and the peices felt really nice. The minifigs come out having that new shine to them. There was no noticable color fading but the torso of the shell worker looked smudged.

Well it seems they're just wearing regular brown pants and brown boots: >>5273498
There aren't a lot of details that needed to be printed on their legs.
>>
>>5273551
Yup.
>>
>>5273553
Yeah, I know. Still, I'd appreciate some texture, like they put on the rebels' pants or something. Even if it's not really needed, I think anything is more interesting than more dark bley pants.

I too opened an older set about a year ago. I found a 1720 Cactus Canyon from 1994(?) that my parents had planned to be a gift at some point. The box was had almost disinterested away and the instructions were chewed on or who knows. The sealed bags were beautiful, the majority of the bricks were bright and flaw free. A few had weird injection marks, not unusable or anything, just different. The figures were a little stiff at fist, but some new ones are also stiff. Overall, would recommend
>>
>>5273518
UCS sets are for the ships deisgn not figures, that´s a fucking autistic reason to not want easier access to a popular figure.

Though it won´t change anything in Lego making arm prints exclusive to CMFs, polybags and UCS sets for at least a year now.
>>
>>5273435
There is only one Rebels set asides form the microfighter that we know of so far, no new figs in it. So nope, she doesn't.
>>
>>5273662
Actually, it's not really the case and never was to begin with as technically one of the first minifigs with printed arm comes from a normal set (the original torquoise Greedo). And it's definitely not something recent, especially, as the most common non-polybag printed arm figure, TLM Wyldstyle is pretty new A plenty of Marvel and DC figs from normal sets (Starfire in the latest wave, that GotG bruiser guy, iirc some version of Batman too...) had printed arms too recently. Even in SW it's not limited to UCS and polybags as one of the Rebels wookie figs from January has printed arms.

You could say the same about any of his villains that haven't been in a movie.
>>

I would like to think I spent $200 on not only an amazing model, but also a very detailed minifigure.

The exclusive minifig thing is the same with the UCS Tumbler, the UCS Millenium Falcon (Ben Kenobi), the UCS Imperial Shuttle, the UCS Super Star Destroyer, the UCS Sandcrawler (a bunch of silly droid builds don't count to me, but Owen Lars does), the UCS TIE Fighter, and the UCS Helicarrier.

Yes, at the end of the day, the UCS sets are about the ships. I didn't buy the Slave I because I wanted the Fett figure, but it was a nice bonus. But I would like to see exclusive minifigures continue as a nice bonus to the collector, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

You have quite a few minifigures I want, but some of them are in sets I don't want. No way would I ask you to ruin the marketability of your sets just so I could get the figs.

However I might scoop up that Council of Elrond... even though I just today ordered a Gimli fig for myself. Getting an alternate Elrond, plus Arwen, Frodo, and the ring would be neat. We'll see.

two options
1. open it and build it, its a toy and you obviously already like building and playing with lego.
2. sell it, use the money to buy (most likely) much more lego than the first set. you're obviously not emotionally attached to the set, otherwise you would have built it already
>>
>>5274774
Oh heya just got your message on there too.
They're all new in the box, so completely unopened and all that, except where specified otherwise.
So I'd prefer not to bust 'em open just for the figs. Like you mentioned in the message, it's easier to just sell 'em whole than in parts.
Sorry, guy. I hope you find your figs.
>>5274788
Hey it's just as >>5274802 said--If I end up not selling some stuff by the time I move, I'll open it up to shipping overseas and the like.
Whatcha lookin' at and where ya at? I mean I guess I can mull it over if you're paying all the shipping and taking care of that.
>>5274823
Completely unopened. Some cases, the sticker tab keeping the box closed is a little worn, but I haven't purposefully opened them and pilfered any bits and bobs from the sets.
And if you want the Duel, hit me up on there and we can work out specifics.
>>

No sweat man. I'm glad you got it so fast, that means I can buy the set from you I wanted without worrying about holding off to see if I could put some figs in it.

I figured it would be a no-go but hey, worth a shot. It's not every day that I find a bunch of figs I'm looking for all in the same store.

A while back I wanted to test my eye-to build skills and made a bootleg of some of your models! I posted pictures a while ago.

I wanted to set up a flickr account to write you and to send you the .lxfs to see if they were at all accurate to your actual builds. I really like your work, and I imitated yours both because of that and because it's a good learning opportunity.

Also, damn, nice.

More of my creepy stalker junk or what have you. I posted these a while ago.

I've built a lot of my own stuff with LDD and posted it around, but the squid sister bootlegs I just wanted to practice SNOT with. The backs of the heads for all of my versions I'm pretty sure are messed up, though. Building them was a lot of fun and quite educational, and god damn if what you make isn't clever.

I kinda wanted to do your version if Jim next but I'm torn between that and more MOCs of my own. I'm trying to build those but need to wait for a little.

I'm not going to claim to be right, but it seems that Disney isn't listed as Disney except on the princess line. It isn't Disney's Star Wars or Disney's Mahvel. At least on Lego's shop.
>>
>>5275249
Oh well. There's only a handful of Disney characters I like enough to actually bother, but I suppose the scraps should sell easy enough on BL
>>
>>5275258
This news is months old? This is the first public evidence
>>
>>5274181
It is cool, but Duplo is ncredibly pricey and I have a big backlof of CMF to catch up with (why are the series 9 movie star and tarot reader so hard to get for cheaper than 10 euro?) so even though I quite often buy Lego stuff I'm unlikely to use in mocs just because it's funny and unusual I'll skip this for the time being. Maybe if I can find a single of these for cheap on ebay since bricklink rarely yeilds much results when searching for Duplo.
>>
>>5274498
If this won't cost much more than CMF it's actually an ok deal.
I hope it means every knight will get robot squires ultimately, can't wait for red and orange ones for the only somewhat distinct knights.
>>
>>5275400
I've seen these vary between 5€ and 9€ here.

And the only one that was 5 had a fucking Robo-Swat in it.
>>
>>5275155

>>
>>5275249
Let me guess, neither Atlantis nor Treasure Planet will get anything (I'd add Black Cauldron too but honestly apart from Horned King's design this movie sucks)

I hope we'll get the Genie at least, I like the series 6 one well enough but it's always nice to have more

>>
>>5275329
>This news is months old? This is the first public evidence
Nah, a couple months ago someone posted a really bad shoop of a Disney CMF bag that was clearly made in MS Paint.

It would just be a funny coincidence if it turned out that the next CMF wave actually was Disnep.

They're 12-15 PLN in Poland, about 10-20% more expensive than CMF in most stores. Not worth it for city figs and Chima imo, but I'd pay that much for the robot (Atlantis squid and the Ninjago snakes were ok deals too imo, especially since there were no Lego magazines back then - they made a lot of these books redunant).

Fellow Polish anons, anyone knows where the fuck all the Goblin Kings on allegro come from? Are those legt or just bootlegs?

>>5275449
That's because like 80% of Disney comics we get here are Italian, rest of Europe gets German and Scandinavian ones iirc. Duck Avenger is mostly an Italian and Brazilian phenomenon and for most of the west it's a literally who character... But then Lego loves literally who characters it seems, looking at DC sets and games especially (I was really happy to see Platinum, shame she's not in any sets)
>>

He's also known well enough in Finland.

What do you even mean? How new is 'new' to you? Because pretty much every year brings at least some double digits' worth of new parts. Depending on how long you've been out of it there could be any number of 'new' parts.

AFAIK there's no single large database dedicated solely to cataloging brick releases except for what I mentioned, with Bricklink being better because it's a site you can buy and sell stuff on.

>Now the actual "ALL EGYPTIANS WUZ BLACK KINGS" bullshit theory.....thats on a whole other level.

It's just a backlash, Egyptology swung the exact other direction in the 1920's, suggesting that "negroid elements" were responsible for the decline and collapse of the Old Kingdom.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. There were black pharaohs, from Ammeris the Nubian onwards, responsible for repairing Egypt at a time petty warlords were destroying the civilization, but they were ultimately crushed by Persians. By the time Cleopatra came around, rulers were mostly of Greek descent.

Ultimately, people want to feel special, especially if they're disenfranchised and oppressed now. If they want to pretend they have the blood of kings, they can. It just won't help their cause at all when they live in a constitutional democracy and not a pharaonic religious dictatorship.

>>
>>5276990
Yeah! I imagine if you combine that with a Power Digger, you could make some really awesome stuff.
>>
>>5276992
I'd combine it with one of the recent construction worker mixels instead, that's the best potential mix of parts in similar colors from sets around this price point imo
>>
Anyone else going to get the Doctor Who set and bricklink parts to build a few other regenerations?

David Tennant looks to be the easiest to recreate. I have no fucking clue how you'd do Peter Davison, Sylvester McCoy or Paul McGann. Don't even get me started on anyone named "Baker".
>>
>>5277127
Doctor who has terrible toys and is a terrible show. Its on equal level to big bang theory and only got made because fans voted for it.
>>
>>5277127
You should of course start with the in-game models from Dimensions. For sure you'll find zero exact prints of those torsos, but at least you have part colors and hair pieces to refer to (even though some may not exist).

Hurt would be easy enough to replicate, if it weren't for his hair. The CMF Judge is a good start to a Pertwee, if you don't mind cutting his cloth bits a little.

Are you also getting the Dimensions pack for Capaldi's regular outfit?

I mean it won't influence my decision to buy this set but they should have been honest about it.

>>5277453
The designer explained it on EB.

>You need to remove the ground-floor's furniture (they are easily removable) in order to have room to park the car and close the doors, but the Ecto-1 does go through the entrance! it was the compromise I had to make between making the car "fit the model" without leaving a big empty space in the ground-floor and compromising on details like Janine or Peter's desks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOm-1NaYfxg
>>
>>5277693
>can fit the ecto-1 in and still have the furniture.

Nope, it's the exact same problem on both models, you have to remove Janine's desk and still can't open the doors.
That's because the car is almost the right scale while the firehouse clearly isn't, you'll never be able to keep all the furniture inside unless you build a proper minifigure-scaled HQ.
>>
>>5277767
The Firehouse seems better-scaled to minifigs than the Ecto-1, I think. With the firehouse you just need to make the minifig thinner to have scale with human proportions, while in the car you have to stretch the figure out a bit to fit that scale.

Still, do Daft Punk seem like the type to turn down LEGO of all people? Theyre frenchfags, arent they, if I remember right? Do the french and the danes have any bad blood that my uneducated american ass doesnt know about?

DP just seem like the type of guys that wouldnt have a real problem with a company like LEGO. Sure, they would want their cut, and their record label, if they even have one that they dont own, might want a cut, but is the SW or GB franchise any less worse on that? Is DISNEY any less worse on wanting their cut of PROFITS?

Somewhere out there, a kike wearing mouse ears just rubbed his palms together in his sleep unknowingly.
>>
>>5278634
have you considered that perhaps it's just not worth the effort for minimal profit an Ideas set would bring them? I think it might be the case with a lot of licensed Ideas stuff that didn't make it, especially in case of properties not owned by WB.

I'm more puzzled about Discworld, Pratchett himself didn't mind licensing - even to small companies, but then on the other hand I have no clue what was in his last will and it seems his family doesn't want to drag on Discworld in any form (iirc his daughter said not even unifnished novels will be published), so maybe they don't want to license it.
>>
>>5278639
Fuck. Never knew Pratchetts family were cunts, especially his daughter.

Hopefully the rights move to some whom may deserve them.
>>
>>5278642
There's nothing particularly cunty about it, at least when it comes to lack of desire to continue Discworld in any form, imo, it's better than letting other people who don't think in the same way as Terry write more novels, for sure. It haven't even been year since he passed away anyway, I doubt they'll never ever sell anyone merchandising and adaptation rights.

It's also not like too many companies wanted the rights too much when he was alive, to be fair, for some reason - the only merchandise I can think of atm are some card and board games a line of resin model kits done by some Polish garage kit company and none of them was too prominent... Is Discworld popular overseas? It's definitely huge here but I've never checked how is it like in the USA or Canada, let alone latino countries.

I found this image on the official LEGO Shop Facebook page, with this statement:
>We noticed a few questions about whether the Ecto-1 (set 21108) fits inside the Firehouse Headquarters. As you can see in the pictures, it does fit on the lowest floor but you need to move a desk, some newspapers, and a few crates (the items pictures in the lower, left corner).

>Just to be clear, the Ecto-1 is sold separately in set 21108 and does not come with this set. We hope this helps to clarify things!

Holy shit you retards need to stop whining about your ideas not going through. Just because you think they're good ideas doesn't mean everyone else does. The Lego Group knows better than you, and there's plenty of reasons why these didn't go through.

How big is the market for "Discworld" or "The Golden Girls"? Kids don't even know what that is. So what, like 10,000 adults (not all of them would even buy the sets) pressed support online. That's barely a fraction of the market, and that's not taking into account that the target demographic (children) would not buy it at all. Do you really believe a child would go into a store and ask their parent to get them Golden Girls? If I had seen Golden Girls Lego as a kid I would honestly think "what the fuck?" and think Lego was for old people or something. And Discworld..... I don't even know what Discworld is. Do you think 10000 buyers (that's assuming everyone that supported the project buys one) is enough to have Lego put the idea into international production?

It's just as simple with everything else there. There isn't a market for giant and SPECIFIC sets that would cost $500. Where would a child get $500? Would a child really want a giant dinosaur statue?

Some of these ideas are just plain pointless, boring or way too specific to appeal to the market. Why would anyone buy a Douglas DC-3 (SPECIFICALLY) over any other Lego plane?
IS the International Space Station really fun? Does anyone really want to spend $300-$400 on statue of the titanic, or a 1969 Corvette?
Or these people that keep submitting bigger versions of existing sets. Just does not make sense when you think about it rationally and without bias.

We already had a Medieval Market and it sold terribly. Do you think making it bigger will help sales?

cont.
>>
>>5278917
With Zelda and Daft Punk it could just be licensing issues. Nintendo has sets currently in production with a Lego clone, and would probably want more $$$ than Lego is willing to give them.

Daft Punk didn't go through for multiple reasons. There is a company BearBrick that produces and has already produced Daft Punk minifigures. The set looked boring, and again very limited market.

Science Adventures seems like it should make sense but you have to remember that as soon as it's deemed educational, children are pushed away from it, thinking it's boring or uncool. The sets didn't really have much to do with science anyways and Lego has sets that are similar except more exciting.

Anyone who understands any amount of business and isn't basing their reaction on bias and personal wants can figure out exactly why none of these went through. Seriously just think about it. This has been on my mind lately and it's annoying and stupid. Maybe I just understand it better because I was a kid less long ago than you guys, but I just can't get your mentality. Just because you would buy something doesn't mean anyone else would. Just because you like something doesn't mean enough people do.
>>
>>5278918
Hopefully this puts a rest to all the stupid comments and juvenile complaining. But I don't know what I should expect from a bunch of adults that play with kids toys.

>Do you think 10000 buyers (that's assuming everyone that supported the project buys one) is enough to have Lego put the idea into international production?
Mark Stafford, a LEGO designer, said 10,000 is the minimum run of something to justify them making a set. That's why they set that number as the benchmark for Ideas.
>>
>>5278950
clearly they don't have faith in the idea being lucrative. It miiiight sell 10,000 if they're lucky, but will it be worth it? Clearly not, look at their decision.
>>
>>5278972
>>5278950
on top of it they would lose some of the money on licenses, 10k is the minimum but they would obviously put their time and resources into somethign that would do better

>>5278950

>>
>>5279046
This, Discworld is huge in the UK, Poland and maybe German-speaking countries but it's pretty much it. Sure, there's shitload of translations, but rarely on the entire series and in a lot of countires they never sold well. Gaiman is more recognizable as far as Brit fantasy authors go, I think. Maybe even Moore and Morrison too if you'd stretch it to comics.

>>5279023
It was shelfwarming until the last wave of Kingdoms in a few stores here, but idk if it means too much. It seemed to be very popular with collectors but kids probably prefered the skeleton and orc castles in the same price range (honestly so did I, I liked the windmill from Kingdoms more as far as "realistic" big medieval sets go anyway)
>>
>>5279082
It's just right for the community of people who actively participate in LEGO-related things. The reasons that projects don't get through has nothing to do with how many people would want it.
>>
>>5279023
The troll fortress was released at the same time and was seemingly much more popular, it was huge among the classic castle community, sure, but the biggest group of buyers are kids.
>>
>>5278634
it doesn't matter what daft punk says if Lego chooses not to approach them to make fucking minifigs of all things.

Then if they did get in, all we'd ever fucking get in ideas are minifigs for stupid shit.

"Oh, please make a Kat Dennings minifig! Make me a Dr. Oz minifig! I want a Mighty No. 9 minifig!" Is that what you want?
>>
the only good Ideas set was that lab thingy and it should've just seen a regular release as a City set

I do like Wall-E too but there were so many fan builds at the time, many of them with LDD instructions, that it was a bit redunant

>>

>>

>>
>>5279104
It isn't, at least not in the winter wave. I'd expect something based on the new Harry Potter spinoff over this anyway since it's seemingly getting some Dimensions stuff too.
>>
>>5279043
Discworld set is shit. It has zero playability and the only draw is "lol it's based on those books I like" (can't remember the author's name). At this point customers would rightly see it as a LotR knockoff.
>>
>>5279104
I hope it does. The headpieces for Dorothy and friends look like good accessories to have.

>>5279102
No. I just don't see how ten thousand supporters is too low a number.
>>
>>5279106
Your Lego Waifu a shit. :DDD
>>
>>5279112
They really should've gone for a Watch set in the submission, Pratchett's take on Death is great but as generic design-wise as it can get, and Watch is not only more recognizable but also features more unique character designs and could be assisted by a more interesting build (like a small tenement building on par with the recent Creator store thingy)

Not sure in which way it'd look like a LotR knockoff even if the submited design got made unless you're one of those people who don't read at all and think Tolkien invented fantasy or some shit
>>
>>5279015
Yes, there's a stigma with educational toys and children.
If you were a kid would you find something you associate with school more fun than ninjas fighting snake people with swords and motorcycles and dragons?

>>5279023
There was a discussion on Eurobricks about it a while ago and there was a lego employee who said that it sold very poorly.

>>5279043
"If I know what it is you should too!!"
This is something that's super niche even for an adult market, now take into account that Lego is for children. They would make a few sales based on product design alone and that's if they're lucky.

>>5279074
Big Bang Theory is very current and more popular. Golden Girls is a step in the exact opposite direction Lego wants to take. Very old demographic. How the hell could you sell that to kids?

>>5279090
They already have minifig licensing with another brand.

>>5279086
This is the dumbest thing I've read in this thread. The universal and ultimate rule of business is demand. Lego will not produce anything that will not make money, it would be pointless.

Do you really think Lego is going to take a loss so a few adult fanboys on the internet can get something they like? Do you know how much work goes into getting a standalone and licensed set onto shelves?
>>
>>5279112
>can't remember the author's name
Terry Pratchett
>>
>>5279113
Take this into account.

The Lego Group spends X amount of money on licensing, as well as all the work into making it work out. They pay royalty to the person that designed it as well as pay their designers. They use their assets to put together enough sets for an international release. Now they have 10,000 supporters, which is absolutely nothing in comparison to the market they have with something such as Ninjago. 10,000 fans (across the entire internet) of that specific thing who may not (and probably wont) even buy the set. Or someone who took the time to click support (which obviously does not equate to a sale).
So they put the sets out, enough for an international release (like the rest of cuusoo projects have had) and they sit there and hope , without marketing, that the sets will sell enough that they make a profit in a market where the demographic has absolutely no idea what the product is.

"I just don't get it!"
>>
>>5279023
The only reason I didn't buy this was because I was unemployed at the time.

>>
>>5279147
>buy ninjago pirates next year

The small zeppelin with the creepy samurai is pretty much the most anticipated set next year for me, next to the modular bank and pirate mixels.
>>
>>5279113
Lets do some ridiculous and hilarious math.
We'll assume they sell 10,000 sets at $30 each. Online release only.

10000x30= 300,000
300,000 - license cost - royalty % - cost of product - cost of molds if they have to make some - cost of employees/workers

wow that sure leaves a lot of money left for lego. that's assuming a perfect scenario too.
sure is worth it for fan service for fans of something other than lego
>>
>>5279160
He said that's the minimum, not the minimum necessarily for licensed sets. The set he was talking about was the Exo-Suit, which wasn't licensed(though he wasn't saying it had a 10,000 unit run, just that that was the bare minimum they would ever do for a mass release set).
>>
>>5279169
The argument was in favor of a licensed set

i was just putting into contrast what releasing one of these licensed ideas at a limited 10k unit production would be like
>>
>>5279123
Lego is for children. So why make a set of the Big Bang Theory or the Simpsons? There's weird almost sex scenes in Ghostbusters, and penis conversations.
>>
>>5279174
Sounds like you're arguing about something that nobody disputes.
>>
I just got all the pirate sets (except the chess set) and I never understood why only the pirates get a ship. I have the Spanish one but it's small and only has one cannon. Why don't these new soldiers there up against get one? They made a governor and commander minifigs of them but all they get is fishing boats?
>>
>>5279181
Build your own, just have to change the colors and get different sails from Bricklink.
>>
>>5279176
They're both extremely popular, even with kids. Ultimately if there is a market for something they will sell it, as long as it doesn't conflict their company philosophy. Ghostbusters has a new movie coming out. That basically works as marketing for the sales. The set's look playable, fun and interesting for kids and there's the adult demographic too. I'm positive that there are more kids that like ghostbusters than those other licensed ideas. 10,000 supporters shows interest so that lego can take the idea seriously, if they think they can sell it, they will.

Ghostbusters is also a unique situation where they can get rights to it very easily through warner bros. Who knows? Maybe their contract holds rights to all warner bros IP
>>
>>5279183
I did consider it, but it's kind of weird that they consider a wave complete like this.
>>
>>5279179
Someone was saying that they didn't see 10k as a small amount after I raised the point about 10k not being enough for a licensed idea going through
>>
>>5279142
Of course the projects that get traction on Ideas will have nothing sales-wise compared to Ninjago. One is a big media-backed intellectual property with multitudes of sets per year, and the other is a platform where no two projects may have anything to do with each other, with limited releases.

Ideas isn't about trying to find the next big theme via community polling. It's a place where people suggest projects that could be made into one-off products, with the 10,000 number assuring TLG that they would be able to sell at least one production run.

They wouldn't need bigger numbers than that, because Ideas isn't about making their big bucks.
>>
>>5279187
The good guys got, what, 2 ships in Lego's entire history? 3 if you count conquistadors who iirc were used as villains for the Islander subtheme mostly anyway. Kids probably just like pirates more and for designers it opens more interesting design possibilities with more ragtag ship appearence and decorations.

To be honest as much as I like classic and 2000s pirates, I don't care for the new ones. Too many rehashes, too few new things, I bought the cook, captain and governor's daughter and some of the dark red masonry pieces but that's it. I guess some people were happy to get more bluecoats too, but as a whole it felt subpar and I'd take the Ninjago pirates over these any day, they're not as orthodox in terms of design but at least it's not buying the same thing for the third time (and they'll go surprisingly well with Metalbeard, here comes perfect crew for the Sea Cow)
>>
>>5279192
Might not be about making big bucks, but it still has to make money. Lego may not even want ties through all the licensing. I'm just saying that there's valid reasons why ideas didn't go through that are fairly easy to see.
People shouldn't be too surprised or complain about it when certain ideas do not go through.
They should just think about the idea without bias for a sec

So if pojects fail for valid reasons like impossible licensing deals or outdated themes, then there doesn't seem to be anything you can blame on the 10,000-supporter rule.

HP, especially the first two and last two waves (the 2004 one was very weak though), was easily the best license Lego ever had. Great part selection, amazing accessories and printed pieces, lot of cool minifigs with plenty of uses outside of original setting. I'd probably buy most of it even if I wasn't fan of the books (they have some problems but I'd say it's still one of the best series aimed at kids/teenagers within the last 20 years)

ATLA had potential but the builds were subpar and release was limited, LOTR was great but too expensive, superhero sets suffer from "(popular hero) and occasionally his friends in every set" syndrome (which is understandable but still... meh). Not much interest in any other license up to date.
>>
>>5279221
In some situations it's too low, I made specific examples of why, for each of the ideas that got turned down earlier :P

In some cases (especially new licenses), 10k would be low because you can gain 10k supporters but if lego doesn't think there's a market, 10k supporters doesn't mean much.
>>
>>5279190
>Someone was saying that they didn't see 10k as a small amount after I raised the point about 10k not being enough for a licensed idea going through

>>
>>5279240
Whether or not there's a market is decided by the 10k number. It's not a decision Lego makes separately. It's the function of the support mechanic.

Your earlier examples talked about whether or not kids would buy X. The project supporters are all teens-to-adults, who thought that license Y or idea Z would be neat to have.

There are 10,000 fans of Golden Girls. They supported because they wanted that set made, and if you raised the supporter number, another couple thousand people would have still supported. It probably still won't get made despite that.
>>
>>5279235
Were the Tolkien themes really expensive?
>>
>>5279235
I will agree here. HP gave us great sets, especialy first series. I LOVED the modular system. It's shame lego is not using it more often in their themes. Imagine Spacew theme where ALL ships can mix.
>>
I think ideas should be original. Just making a set of a copyrighted product isn't an original idea.
Someone already made it out of not Lego!
>>
>>5279265
For some reason here in Poland it was a lot more expensive than other licenced series. I think there was problem like this in france too.
Basicaly lets say smaller set in $ cost as much as City set "A". Here in Poland it was more expensive- it cost as much as set "B".
>>
>>5279278
Add to this that there seem to be problems with distribution of licensed themes here lately and Lego Polska mostly seems to sell them to chain stores like Smyk that inflate the place further. I've only seen LotR at independent retails two or three times in my city and it wasn't a wide spectrum of sets, sadly.
