Hello /toy/. New to buying figures, I've been looking for a good skeleton figure. I saw someone here had a Revoltech Skeleton from Jason & the Argonauts, and I've been looking around online but the only place I've found them in stock for anywhere near a reasonable price is Amazon (£35, but not including any possible customs and also not tracked?). I found one on Mandarake but it was out of stock. I guess because the figures are so old it might be a while before it ever gets restocked.

I'm big into skeletons and a fan of Ray Harryhausen's work so I'm tempted to bite the bullet on this one regardless. Before I do though does anyone know of any other skeleton figures which are as good/poseable as this one, and which might be easier or cheaper to get?

Thank you.
>>
>>4373633
Mandarake sometimes have some for cheaper prices.

Also there's a small chance this figure will get re released with the "legacy of Revoltech" aka Revoltechs last chance to make money.

I really hope the do. I missed out on the first wave and like everyone else I want a couple of them.
>>
>>4373633
Skeleton Warriors from the 90's are getting a reboot in the style as Power Lords/Glyos (as in they have Glyos joints which are compatible with a bunch of stuff.) It's done by Four Horsemen too. They're way more fantasy than what you posted though.
>>
>>4373661
Yeah, those look like shit.
>>
I want to get the Revo Skeleton too, but it looks like it will snap really easy. Is it stronger than it looks?
>>
>>4373653

If they do re-release them that would be excellent, but it's not certain then I don't know if I want to take the chance. I might get one now, then if it does get re-released I can pick up a second for cheaper.

Yeah, Mandarake was my try. Got an email this morning saying the order was canceled, though. Does Mandarake restock on this stuff, is there any idea on how long it takes, how common it is etc?
>>
>>4373671
yep
>>
FUCK YOU OP I THOUGHT THEY WERE DOING A LEGACY RELEASE I WANT A GODDAMN REVO SKELETON AND I WANT IT NOW!
>>
I'm aware of 2 1/18 scale skellies. One's Montezuma's skeleton from the 3rd GI Joe DVD pack and there's the upcoming Boss Fight one. GI Joe's was minimally articulated, Boss Fight's looks good though.

There's also the Pose Skeletons by Re-Ment, which are officially labeled as 1/18, but the proportion look more like they'd be those of a 1/12 child, disturbingly.
>>
>>4373805

Cheers. Those Pose Skeletons look pretty kawaii. They're not out yet, I'd like to see how poseable they are before getting them but they're cheap enough to grab a few and make a mini skeleton army.
>>
>>4373677
Mandarake is an aftermarket reseller. They don't stock in thetraditional sense, they buy and resell preowned figures.

If you use a service like figinstock you can set names and key phrases to search mandarake (and Amiami) for preowned march and send you email updates if they come in.
>>
>>4373829
Bought up 3 of the pose skels, and I forget if I bought 3 regular and 1 black or 2 regular and 1 black of the Boss Fight ones. Pose Skels are definitely designed with cute in mind, I can't wait to have them chasing adventurers down...for completely innocent reasons. Like one dropped their money bag or something.

As it is, it looks like 'figma' style joints in the shoulders, waist, knees, and ankles(I THINK they're in the hips and neck, but those might just be swivels). Elbows are hinges, and I think there might be swivels in the wrists, but can't tell. That's really pretty damn good for that size of figure.

While I'm not sure about the Boss Fight ones (as the kickstarter's already ended I wouldn't know how to order them exactly) the Pose ones look great. They're surprisingly cheap, too.

And this accessory set, too. Jeez. I think I might have to pre-order some, then.
>>
>>4373958
Boss Fight's no longer accepting orders. It's likely though that you'll be able to pick some up further down the line, but they're a bit pricey. $15 was the Kickstarter price, no idea if they'll be able to bring it down from there though.
>>
>>4373980

That's fine. I'm going to pre-order some of these Pose skellies. Gonna get me a 3-pack.

Also ordered the Revoltech from Amazon. Slippery slope, etc.

for what purpose
>>
>>4374164
Prevention of scalping. Most times it's not an issue, this time...
>>
>>4374175

Ah, that makes sense.

Honestly, these are cheap enough that it's not tripping my usual sensible spending alarms. I might get 4 or so, take one to work and put it on my desk.
>>
>>4374179
On the rare occasion I go for multiples, I try to stick to 3 or less, personally. No idea why, just personal preference
>>4374155
This makes it pretty clear that there are the 'figma'(need a better name) joints in the hips and neck, and that there's a joint where the wrist can separate(or that the photographer took a pic that required he cut off one of the hands).

I'm hoping they reissue these a few times, doesn't Re-Ment normally just do one run of things and then retire it?

Beyond the colored sketches and one cad model, no. They were stretch goals, so they didn't have a pre-made one on hand.

There was the old Armies of Darkness Deadite skeletons of various releases that aren't easy to come by or cheap.

1/18 scale too. Bit brittle since they're from the early 2000s and had qc issues.

Four Horsemen aren't making the Skeleton Warriors (probably would look even better if they were), that's all October Toys. Maybe you're confusing them with Mythic Legions, the fantasy toyline the 4H want to put out in the same style as the 4H Power Lords line, which also happens to include skeletons in armor among dwarves and other things.

He ain't kidding about the quality control. I owned a set of these and all but one broke with minimal hamhandling. They look cool but be wary of spending much on them.

Yeah, I plan on replacing them with the Boss Fight Skellies unless those somehow suck. Get the armor bits and heads onto those for even more variety.

Still, at least with broken skeletons one can re purpose them as bone piles and body parts.

Question regarding the Boss Fight skeletons:

I didn't pledge because I didn't know about that shit till recently. Is it impossible for me to buy the figure afterwards or did I miss out?
>>
>>4380269
Where'd you get that scythe? The only decent mini I've found is like $30usd
>>
>>4382338

They got funded so they should have more for their planned store and online shops once all the Kickstarter orders have been filled.

Plus any future Skeleton releases they'll do due to having the tooling made from the funding.

Airi from the Legacy of Revoltech line has a pretty nice scythe you could use for the Revo Skeleton.

>get email from AmiAmi saying the skeletons are now ready
>combined my order (3 skeletons and an accessory set) into a september month order

S-should I be worried? I've never done this before.
>>
>>4383267
Wait, what? I haven't gotten a payment request, and I've only got the dog in addition to what you got.
>>
>>4383271

It wasn't a payment request, I just got an email saying that my order has been secured, and that the items will be available in Sep 2014.
>>
>>4383278
Ah, well then that should be fine. Mid September's the release time, so check for a request around the 10th or so. I think you get 5 days to pay after a request, and after that, I think they cancel the order and may ban you from the store. They're a bit sporadic about bans though.

>>
>>4387741
How much did shipping cost you, might I ask? I can't seem to find a way to calculate it without ordering.
>>
>>4388177
Shipping's calculated after the item comes into stock.
>>
>>4388277
Wow, that's kind of a shabby way to do business, isn't it? What would you guys estimate is shipping for a couple of these? Never ordered from Japan before.
>>
>>4388311
It's hard to know what the weight of a product is until it's actually been weighed, anon. They shouldn't be more than a few ounces each by the look of them. So I'd set aside 15-20 for international shipping. Best case, you grossly overestimate. Worst case, you pay 20 bucks.
>>
>>4388311

amiami, mandarake & plamoya do this too, they wont tell you shipping cost until you have ordered.

>>4388311

I order loads of stuff from japan and >>4388359
has it about right. I estimate it will run you between 1500-1800yen shipping, worst case $20.
>>
>>4388311

poster of >>4388393 here, i forgot plamoya do give you a shipping estimate on the checkout page. Also my estimate is for EMS shipping, Im in New Zealand, shipping for me is a few dollars cheaper on hlj than shipping to america for me but every other japanese site its exactly the same cost as shipping to the states.

some useful info i wish someone had told me before i started buying from japan to help you out:

EMS shipping in order of cheapest to most expensive:

HLJ, hobby search/amiami (about the same), manderake, plamoya.

mandarake is kind of a wild card for shipping as some branches are cheaper than others (after ordering the exact same item from 3 different branches the shipping varied by 600 yen)

also, it is possible to get a shipping estimate from hobby search in the checkout (go through the checkout, its the second to last page and its possible to back out if its too much by using the rewrite button at the bottom) so you dont have to commit to an order to find out shipping.

hope that helps you anon.
>>
>>4387741
Oh gosh, thanks! Now how many do I wanna get..?
>>
>>4388405

going through the checkout at hobbysearch with the same item is a really good way of working out what amiami will charge you for shipping, they're very close in pricing.
