Disney working with GSC isn't new at all, but their acquisition of Lucasfilm has evidently made Star Wars a lot more accessible as a license for figure makers, and I guess Elsa is probably an experiment on their part to gauge the demand for conventional Disney figures.

Tomytec is the company that purchased the production of the Nendoroids. GSC still sculpts them and produces them.
It took me awhile to figure out why GSC would make figures of obscure app games or mascots.
Sometimes rich ass app makers, like the producers of Shingeki no Bahamat or NCSoft, decide to use their advertising money to fund production of a figure.
That's what Tomytec is doing here, and why there name is emblazoned on the product.
Nintendo is probably a little more back and forth with GSC requesting they allow them to use their rights, but the opposite scenario happens just as often where companies request a Nendoroid.
Tomytec does this a lot with Nendoroids, these railwars figures aren't the first.

To me the Frozen and Metal Gear stuff seems out of place. I don't like it. It's like how people would probably be deterred if Blizzard started implementing CoD modern weapons into World of Warcraft. The continuity feels broken every time they make releases like this, despite all the times they've done it in the past. Star Wars feels ok, and so does stuff like Mickey Mouse. Nendoroids based on digital animation or real humans is not that cool (remember the Linkin Park petites? I thought that was a huge mistake).

Continuing from the previous anti elsa/snake posts, but I could care less if it was Disney. I think a daffy or goofy would be great as a Nendoroid. I also like drossel. I just don't like Elsa like I wouldn't like a Woody or Jack Sparrow. I think it's forced to play up the popularity of the movie. Nendoroids have very specific head dimensions for interchangeability purposes now. I don't think that's suited at all to mimic real life people, or most 3d digital animation. Snake and Elsa just seem forced. I don't think the source material is suitable for transferring to Nendoroid format with any type of recognizability. To me RDJ and Don Cheadle just look like two down syndrome kids in Nendoroid form, and that to me creates discontinuity in the line.

This whole industry is based on shameless bandwagon jumping - it doesn't matter if source material is good or not, so long as it sells the merchandise. What's ruining the combo for me are the marks under his eyes. They did this shit with the Iron Man and another manlier nendoroid and it just looks terrible. I don't think it works with something that's supposed to be cute and it ends up just looking strange to me.

I hated those lines on Tony, but now looking back on it, the lines might not have been at fault at all. I might have just been creeped out as a whole by the bearded chibi face, and the little lines at the corners of his eyes, which made me think of fluttery eyelashes.
Snake...actually looks sort of wrong to me without the lines. Too smooth and fresh and baby-faced. I guess in this case, I DO like the lines. They give him just a little bit of stoic grit somehow.

It's just a stupid question. The appeal of the Snake Nendo is the appeal of every other Nendo. Popular (usually Japanese) media + chibi. Why would Snake be any different? He's popular Japanese media in chibi form. If you don't like MGS or the design that's fine but he looks the same as every other Nendo and is going to appeal to fans of MGS just like every other Nendo appeals to fans of that property.
I could understand the buttfrustration if it was like Luigi, Mickey, Link and Mario. Those ones suck. They don't conform to the chibi Nendo style. They just take the characters and scale them down.
But I just really don't see the problem with Snake. He has the same fat chibi face that all the other male nendos have. Look at Levi, Gilgamesh, Eren, Tony Stark.
This is probably that same dude from the other day though that whined about Snake and Elsa ruining the integrity of the Nendoroid line.

Well, duh. They've always been really into toys, dating back to that one old music video where you see the bedroom with the dresser covered with Gundams. They've leveraged their love of toys into various collaborations, including Nendoroid Petits, Transformers, 3A, Gundam, maybe even some more I forgot about.
I'm not into Linkin Park personally, but it's a pretty cool success story re: the toys. I know if I got famous I'd try to get my own personalized toys made.

It was kind of a thank you to Linkin Park for helping so much with that bad earthquake that happened a few years ago in Japan. The petits were even unveiled at a a charity art show to help victims. LP might not be a band I like listening to, but they seem like really nice people with their charity, Music for Relief, which is to help people all over the world that face natural disasters.
It's sad these didn't do that well because they were sculpted well and even their guitars have a lot of detail.
