Interested in buying the Swordmaster class from Dreadfox Games. Anyone estimate what tier it falls into?

Just a warning: if they have any decent stats, they become practically invincible in melee combat. I have a Swordmaster in my party right now. He's level 7 with an AC of 34, and that's not taking into account his whirling defense moves. There is literally nothing that can hit him without rolling a natural 20, and he currently has a +20 to hit. As long as your GM is okay with that, well, I hope he's experienced.
>>
>>47940927
Do you have the book? Can you upload it, please?

Toss it up to QANON at their email. Someone can probably post the contact info.

Some monsters from LPJ, a book on Epic enemies bestiary, the Swordmaster class, maybe a few others. I'd have to dig through it.

>>
>>47941214
There's not too much in Paizo's domain that have parallels to 3e classes outside of core.
Magus is akin to a duskblade.
Kineticist is a crappy warlock.
Mesmerist is a bland beguiler.

You could make very vague arguments to connect Favored Soul to Oracle and Knight to Cavalier, but there's not a big connection other than vague concepts.

Depends on what you're trying to do, really. At a glance, Scarlet Throne seems to be pretty good on both the attack and defense fronts, and precludes using anything in your offhand - so Iron Tortoise and Thrashing Dragon are out. You could add Golden Lion for enabling your party members, Silver Crane for tankiness, or Solar Wind if you want to do ranged shenanigans. I suppose you could take Iron Tortoise if you wore a buckler and took the buckler bash feat, though.
>>
>>47941551

Yeah, I figured. I'm ok with this.

I'm playing a Human Female Warder who worships Arshea.
The rest of the party is as follows:
Human Female Warlord Pirate Captain
Human Female Warlord (Steelfist Commando) punchyfist
Male Beastbrood Tiefling Warlord (Desperado) - literal Revolver Ocelot
Male Elan Vitalist based on this guy: http://i.imgur.com/ADT7N7B.jpg
>>
>>47941528
I'm pretty sure you can't, because you would need to hold your sword in your shield hand which is something you presumably can't do while holding the shield as well. If you're using a two-handed weapon, you can hold onto it with one hand and still use your other hand for somatic components, though.

So I took some time to work on a spreadsheet.

Occult Adventures is basically the poor man's psionics handbook, magic of incarnum and tome of magic with beguiler and warlock on the side.

3PP is much better. Ultimate Psionics is self-explanatory, Path of War is nuTome of Battle, Akashic Mysteries is nuIncarnum. Spheres of Power, Strange Magic and Pact Magic cover Tome of Magic. Some niche classes are covered by New Paths Compendium. For the ever-popular warlock, there's The Invoker and Strange Brew: The Warlock.

Try running your own game and show the DM how it's done. It's actually kind of fulfilling, I find. All those character concepts I never get to play have a chance to see the light of day before being quickly snuffed out by the players ;-;
>>
I've always wanted to play a copycat character in PF, ever since I played Rubick in DotA2.
A guy who temporarily gains the ability to cast someone's last-used spell or ability, whether it's a fireball, an ultimate sword technique, a unique transformation, whatever.
God damn, I really loved seeing this scrawny, twitchy motherfucker suddenly bust into anime shit with Omnislash, or start riding his staff like a witch's broom with Firefly. And the way the voice actor delivered the stolen spell names, och.
Aside from a few Fool's Errand and Shattered Mirror maneuvers, however, I haven't seen the ability to do this kind of thing.
There's that one thing, Spell Turning or whatever, where you bounce a spell off yourself and back at them, but that's not what I'm looking for. The thing I liked the most about Rubick was that you'd sometimes be BETTER at using some spells/abilities than their source, because the guy you spellstole doesn't have caster items. The fact you could use the ability in any way you wanted and not just reflect it back was also a huge deal for me.

So: is it possible to be a proper copy-cat character in PF? Is there a dedicated 3pp/homebrew class for it?
>>
>>47942631
Invoker is by Little Red Goblin Games. Similar to 3.5 warlock but pacts are varied like with other caster class features.

Strange Brew is by Misfit Studios. It's a spontaneous counterpart of the witch class, similar to the 3.x Witch's Handbook. (Btw spontaneous counterpart of the Druid would be the Shaman from New Paths Compendium by Kobold Press.)

The Arcanist's Greater Exploits Redirect Spell and Spell Thief might be closer to the mark. It's not a perfect Rubick, and I don't know of any class that would be, but both those exploits and the Arcanist's greater theme of doing things both fast and flexibly could easily be themed to fit with a Rubick like character.

It kills me. He talks up roleplay and immersion and doesn't even bother to give the game his full attention. I don't know what eh expects, really. If he wanted to just chill and talk about recent goings on with his wife, then he could do it all day outside of the game.

Just pathfinder? I think armor training does it.
Non pathfinder there's an echantment in drow of the underdark which raises it by one or two, I believe. In dragon... 358(?) there are non-magical enhancements to armor that can increase the ac and max dex by 1, I'm pretty sure.

I hope the rest of your party has some way to stop your rampage when even enemies six levels ahead of you can't hit you except on a natural 20.
>>
>>47942880
If you can waste around 5-6 levels in the Armor Bonded prestige class (3pp, 4winds fantasy gaming) you get a huge bonus to max dex,and if you keep going up you can get grafts to improve directly dex, con or str by +2, up to +4 each.
You also become one with the armor and can't take it off ever again, though.

Spent a feat on Great Fortitude. Had a +2 cloak. Had the alternate racial trait for luck and fate's favored. Had a +2 fort familiar. Had decent stats (was on 25 PB).

>Fort
2 (base) + 2 (con) + 2 (luck w/ FF) + 2 (familiar) + 2 (cloak) + 2 (great fortitude) + 1 (trait) = 13
>Reflex
2 (base) + 2 (dex) + 2 (luck w/ FF) + 2 (cloak) = 8

SWD was broken as all fuck. Physical stat optimization can get way higher theoretical values than mental.

SWD were enormously powerful when optimized, more so than most wizards. The only thing that held them back was their spell list.
>>
>>47943827
Didn't they only get bonus spells from their high con, their saves were still based off of their intelligence? That gave them more spells and hp, but they didn't have the save DCs that SAD spellcasters (or even more so the now even more potent SWD) have.
>>
>>47942790
3.5 had the spellthief class, which admittedly isn't like Rubick at all. It's more shank a bitch: steal a spell. Also, don't try to use it by going actual spellthief, much better idea to take a single level in spellthief, then go your full caster of choice and the master spellthief feat. I would do something like spellthief/wizard/unseen seer or something

I'm trying to devise a unified vancian casting system based on Trailblazer. All casters now cast like arcanists, except that they know all the spells on their lists like clerics/druids do. Their caster level and spells/day is determined by their base magic bonus analogous to base attack bonus. I'm not sure how to translate the original spontaneous vs preparation divide, other than giving prepared casters more prepared (readied) spells and spontaneous casters more spell slots.

Thoughts?
>>
>>47944308
I wouldn't translate the differences at all. Just make the spontaneous classes archetypes of the changed one. Would martials be getting anything alongside this caster boost?
>>
>>47944356
>Would martials be getting anything alongside this caster boost?
What? Of course not.
Martials already do enough damage as it is, they don't need more.
>>
>>47944394
Ah, you're right. Are you going to help even it out by nerfing power attack. That's way too much damage.
>>
>>47944405
With these changes, I think the damage disparity will be more in line, as casters will be able to use spells like Fireball without having to compromise much, so I don't think martials need a nerf.

I enjoy copycat characters immensely and the only way I know how is with an initiator. I think the ultimate copycat character would be the new brawler initiator archetype focusing on Fool's Errand, Shattered Mirror, and probably Tempest Gale so you get that feel of stealing other opponent's moves/abilities(feats/maneuvers/spells/supernatural abilities with fool's errand and shattered mirror), disabling them from range(with tempest gale) and it also is quite good at melee and controlling others movement.

Is there a way to speed up the clones 2d4 month growth period?

I just got 8th level spells and I'm definitely getting clones for the group but I doubt we can stop to wait for the clones to grow. Ok so Arodens spellbane apparently render people immune to certain spells within its AoE. So let me give you two scenarios and let me know if it works as I interpreted it.

Lets say a Wizard casts Aroden's spellbane and adds time stop to the no-no list and then proceeds to fight a sorcerer who is known to make heavy use of the spell.

Scenario A: The sorcerer casts time stop and gets 3 rounds. The wizard has no other ally within range of the aura, does this mean that the wizard can act normally during the duration of the time stop?

Scenario B: The wizard casts time stop close to his allies, does this mean that they can act as long as they are within the spellbanes area while all other foes are frozen?

Eunuchs have interesting cultural dynamics to explore. The character in question was born a slave and castrated before puberty to be a performer. Now he is a semi-sociopathic terrorist. A lot of things happened and he ended up having a warped perception of the value of human life, which came with how he and other slaves were treated.

Basically the guy is dead inside and thinks everyone else is to.
>>

>>47946150
I never considered this actually, but it's a pretty strong VMC for the class since it's way better than the School Understanding exploit, and it doesn't trade out Exploits like the School Savant does, which leaves Blood Arcanist available.
>>
>>47946204
For reference the character was an Alchemist Eldritch Poisoner.

The character's endgame was the downfall of his nation, not to put himself in a position of rule, but to reduce the place to a state of anarchy.

During his stint as a slave he eventually was trained as a traveling performer/assassin. Performers are allowed to travel and he in this travels would kill and not leave many signs (he made poisons on the fly instead of carrying them or any ingredients).

After running and living as his own person he turned the talents back at the government. So he was an anarchist terrorist. Once he toppled the society and removed the scaffolding people used to be nice to each other what was really there would shine through. Since everyone was like him underneath it all this would be perfect.

So in short he was insane. Ended up being in a mostly good party and hiding it for eight months OOC and two years IC.
>>
>>47945875

First of all their stats. They stand out ahead of all the other races by an enormous margin (+2 to all mental is crazy).

Then the fact that a drow noble is touting around as much magic as a level 3 character simply for being noble.

Then spell resistance. An equal level caster only has a 45% chance of effecting a drow noble with a spell if it allows SR. That's HUGE.

This is on top of the normal racial abilities, drow are not a weak race.
>>
>>47946514
They have overwhelmingly positive stat adjustments, with only a -2 to CON, bonuses to saves, skills, and SR, darkvision, and a plethora of at will spell-like abilities. They also have a large amount of alternate traits that allow a player to tailor them to a specific build.
>>
>>47946514
Well, normally, the race point system is pretty shitty, but in this case it illustrates my point rather well.

Human:

>Extra skill point per level
Total RP: 9

Drow
>Standard stats (+2 to two stats, -2 to one other)
>Elven Immunities
>Lesser Spell Resistance
>Racial bonus to perception
>Poison use
>weapon familiarity
>120 ft. Darkvision
>light blindness
Total RP: 14

Drow Noble
>Advanced stats (+4 to one stat, +2 to three others, -2 to another)
>Elven Immunities
>Greater spell resistance
>Racial bonus to perception
>Three different spell-like setups, one that's lesser, one that's greater, and one that's at-will
>Poison use
>Light blindness
>Darkvision 120 feet.
Total RP: 41

>>
>>47946674
Perception is an incredibly useful skill. Elven Immunities aren't particularly good but they're still there. SR can be worked around easily, but you still need to work around it - it can't just be ignored. And even more than that, you still haven't addressed +4 DEX, -2 CON and +2 to all mental stats.
>>

>>
>>47946674

Getting more than a +6 is difficult. This is on spells you're good at. That still means there is a 25% chance any spell cast on your just doesn't do anything.

At low levels character likely won't have more than a +1-2, meaning they get off scott free 40% of the time.

>>
>>47946760
>I mean unless they use one of the VERY MANY SR ignoring spells.
SR ignoring spells make up ~10% of the spell list. It means that enemies need to play around it. A lot of monsters have SLAs they can't change out like players can change out spells.

You're acting like it isn't something enemies would have to consider when attacking. It ruins a lot of creature's strategy, and if the enemy doesn't know its going up against a creature with high SR they're boned.

>>47946760
>and they deal with it by the fact that you're a rare, uncommon race that's typically disliked.
Again, the fact that a lot of races don't like you doesn't make up for the fact you are simply MUCH stronger than most races. Most races hate orcs, and orcs are garbage.

It's not a property of you being in normal or bright light, it's a property of your stealth abilities.

You can stealth against people regardless of light level, but take a -10 if you don't have enough darkness to hide in.

You don't have enough darkness to hide in vs darkvision, so you just take the -10.
