You're technically right, but I don't think there's any harm in it. I view the Eldrazi and a lot of pop culture "Lovecraftian" stuff the same way- the junk food of the genre. Not good for you in continual large doses, but it can be pleasantly enjoyed once in awhile if you know just what it is you're having.
Bloodborne definitely isn't the first pairing of gothic victorian and cosmic horror/weird fiction, but it's one of the more recent examples in memory and damn, did they make it look good. Ergo, you draw associations.

As it was worded then. Madness was an 8 because it was confusing as to what happened to a card after it was discarded that allowed you to cast it, now that it discards to exile and you cast it from there, it's been lowered.
Nothing is lowering Storm, Threshold (which is only on there because idiots start arguments as to whether the cards on the stack are counted as being in the graveyard or not), the untap symbol and Flanking like that rules change helped Madness.
