I don't know, Tau are in some ways more authoritarian than the Imperium (rigid caste system, breeding/sterilisation programmes, mind controlling Vespids). There's definitely some grimdark lurking under the facade of "happy family of aliens".
If possible, I'd vote for Salamanders. I'm sure that they've done some dark stuff, but they're the friendliest bunch of Marines in the setting and Marines are already outside of the grimdark politics of the greater Imperium. These guys apparently are one of the few Chapters that go out and live in their planet's communities.

Salamanders are probably the most "human" of all the Space Marines, which makes them better in my book.
It also makes them hesitant to do what must be done, though. They still will exterminatus planets and will cause serious collateral damage, but only after they believe every other possible alternative has been exhausted. Even then, it often weighs heavy on them when they have to do it.

Put either Meltas or FLamers (if you've got an extra) or use both Meltas and Flamers.
The great thing about Raptors is that unlike our Loyalist brethren, the Special Weapon is an addition rather than a replacement, so we still keep our stock Pistol/Chainswords.
The best way to use Raptors is as suicide strikers behind the opponents lines, targeting vehicles with Meltas or cooking backfield objective-holders.
Plasma guns are garbage in this case - never use them. If your dudes survive more than one turn, they need to be getting into Assault to tie up a unit. They can't do that if they have Plasma Guns (as they're Rapid Fire). Meltas and Flamers are both Assault, so you can still do that.
If your opponent is a huge stickler for WYSIWYG, just buy another box and make an additional Flamer and Melta squad. Now you have two Flamers and two Meltas to run either way you want in two different squads.

All the swords but the "Regular" looking sword (the one attached to the sprue in your picture) are Chainswords. The "regular" looking sword is the Power Sword, which I recommend you put on the Champion of your unit.
Chainswords are considered Close Combat Weapons, which is what Raptors come with stock in the Codex. Even if your Raptors don't have Chainswords or another weapon on their model, they still count as having Close Combat Weapons because it comes standard in the unit entry (i.e. if you put a Flamer or a Meltagun on your model, it still counts as having a CCW even though the CCW isn't on the model itself).

Look through Raven Guard successors (Death Spectres, Raptors etc) for moderate mixtures of grimdark and reasonable marines.

The best I can think of is following.
Khorne Daemonkin book
Give a Chaos Lord on Juggernaut the 70 point or so Axe. The axe summons a Bloodthirster when the model dies/removed. The Bloodthirster takes D3 wounds every turn it isn't in combat.
What you do is gather up enough Khorne Good Boy Points and use Apothesis on the Chaos Lord. The Chaos Lord is removed from the table. This summons a Bloodthirster. The Chaos Lord is then replaced by a Daemon Prince with ALL of the Khorne's Lords equipment/relics (bar the Juggernaut, but you don't need that originally anyway, just helps you stay alive). So you now have a Bloodthirster and a Daemon Prince with the same relic axe. If the Daemon Prince dies/removed, it summons ANOTHER Bloodthirster.
That's about all I can think of. I dunno which book has the Black Mace, but that on a Daemon Prince is apparently neat.

There was a thread about how a private gaming group added that they didn't want anyone with serious mental illnesses to apply to join their group. As one would expect, this eventually became a discussion about fags and trannies.
As one wouldn't expect, one tranny constantly made posts about their guns, and how they wanted to go and shoot up all the cis-people, and generally just kill everyone who wasn't like them.
Threatening mass shootings, esspecially doing it in a serious way, and many many times, is illegal. Reports to the FBI were made, and a tranny was v&, and all the posts deleted.

With x3 TH/SS TWC bodyguards, you'll be outnumbered by anything but MC, which will be targeted by the TH/SS.

That's what I had a problem with. It was great combined with a Thunder Wolf, as IWND with 4W was neat as fuck.
Oh well, it's fixed now. You can make a S8 guy with A11 attacks, but by then you've forked out like 200 points. Oh and only if you're outnumbered, otherwise you're down to 8 attacks.

Correct, they'll both still have their CCW's AND Bolt Pistols (so they still gain +1 Attack on the charge). I'll reiterate that this is an advantage Assault Marines do not have.
Even though this squad has both a Melta and Flamer, the overwhelming majority of people you'll end up playing will probably be okay if you proxy them (i.e. "All the Special Weapons in this squad are considered Meltaguns, even though one of them is a Flamer). Just don't be a dick and try to change that mid-game, and your opponents will usually let you.

While I personally don't bother with Plasma Pistols, if you like them, the Champion is the place for them to be. I would personally just save the 15pts and use a Bolt Pistol instead. (There's nothing stopping you from modeling him with a Plasma Pistol and then proxying it as a Bolt Pistol for games if you just like the way it looks though). Alternatively, if you've got other models, kit-bashing a Combi-Flamer or Combi-Melta are good plays too.
You're otherwise good. From a gameplay perspective, what are you going to Mark them as? For Raptors, Slaanesh (+1 Initiative, so they hit first in CC against most units), Khorne (Rage and Counter-Attack, so they can charge any units attempting to charge them and gain an ADDITIONAL attack when charging), and Nurgle (+1 Toughness, which makes them significantly harder to kill) are ideal, and usually worth taking. The only reason you should not be taking a Chaos Mark is to save points, so if you plan on using them as a "fire-and-forget" suicide unit it's viable to not mark them, but if you overall battle plan depends on them accomplishing a specific objective it's usually a good idea to give them a Mark.

As far as marks go, I don't know. Dark Vengeance is in the mail, and I was expecting that to be my first foray into warhammer. But I also decided to grab these raptors while I wait so I can start assembling and painting these while I wait on the post office. They look so cool.

Both pistols and guns are 15 points, that alone should let you understand why pistols are considered poor options.
Marks are literal marks on the marines bodies themselves. Typhus got a simple rash that left 3 pockmarks in a triangle shape, that's how he got his mark of nurgle. They don't need to be represented for that reason, but it could be cool to have a sergeant with one painted on or something. You should have it written down somewhere which units have which marks though.

Nah, you don't have to actually "mark" what the unit is. In fluff, as >>47826437, said, it's not something that's usually physically present on the model, but your other kits will often have God-based upgrades, like certain heads and shoulder pads, that will easily convey what Mark the unit has.
Even still, it's not necessary to actually mark them (but usually still a good idea and it makes them look cooler)

To add to this anon, sometimes marking is not encouraged, depending on their role and your theme. For example giving bikers Mark of Tzeentch is utterly pointless because they'd be getting a 6+ invulnerable they'll almost never use because of Jink. Sorcerers also have to roll on their god-specific spell table and can't roll on the good generic tables unless you buy them expensive mastery levels. For these cases, it's alright if you just model them to match your theme but leave them unmarked.
