>>
>>47787032
A mercy killing? Fight me mate.
>>
>>47787041
For normal people, it might be an overreaction, but for planeswalkers and oldwalkers at that, I don't think so.
Sorin imprisoned her the Helvault for a shit long time, forcing her to recreate Zendikar in painstaking detail to not go mad. She gets out and goes back to her home after finding out she was powered down. When she gets there, the Eldrazi have been freed, tearing across Zendikar, and have wiped out at least one continent.
So she lithomances her way to Zendikar, and yeah
Bala Ged is kill, leading her to the realization that the Zendikar she spent all those years in her mind nurturing and creating is flat out gone, destroyed, because Sorin wanted to keep his plane safe from Nahiri instead of taking a road trip to Zendikar to check on the locks.
She could have resealed the lock on the eye
she could have been like "No Nissa, that's dumb"
But now, all she sacrificed for, all Zendikar sacrificed for is shit as far as she knows because a certain dragon told her that the Eldrazi couldn't be destroyed, and she didn't have the means to trap them again.
>>
>>47786478
This entire mess exists because of Sorin can't communicate for shit and Nahiri couldn't be be the bigger wizard and planeswalk away.

You are trying to tell a millenia old vampire what to do? thats gonna end bad
>>
>>47787468
The plane wasn't fucked at that point, she sealed them away again and shit was all good. She is just being a spoiled brat.
>>
>>47787041
How is it an over reaction. Naihiri was basically coerced into using her home plane to house planar destroying threats "for the good of the multiverse" with the promise should the need arise they will come to her aid to prevent the Eldrazi from escaping.

When that happens and neither shows, she goes to find out why. The reason (for sorin) is basically "piss off, my plane is protected"

Her biggest mistake was trying to force Sorin to assist, but she gets locked up in the helvault for her troubles. All of this leads to the release of the eldrazi and destruction of basically all of Zendikar. Which is what Sorin and Ugin said they were going to help prevent.

>>47787447
Sorin really isn't in the right here. His plane isn't housing the Titans. If you flipped the scenario could you imagine how angry Sorin would be if Nahiri and Ugin didn't show up to help his plane?
>>
>>47786478
So almost immediately after Avacyn Restored ends, events are already near the ass end of BFZ's plot?
>>
>>47787206
To be fair to Nahiri, she figured that if she walked home without showing Sorin who was boss, she figured that Sorin would permanently be her enemy and that he'd later take the opportunity to fuck her shit up for her trangression on Innistrad.

>>
tl:dr
Nahiri: "yo dude, long time no see. I lit the homing beacon and you never showed, but it's cool I handled it because I'm a boss like you now"
Sorin: "Oh, my phone was on silent because of this Helvault and stuff that I built to protect my plane. Guess it really did its job after all."
N: "So you blocked my number?"
S: "Nah, I blocked everybody's number. Ain't got time for other people's problems"
N: "not cool man. Just come with me to check on it real quick and we'll be cool, tho."
S: "Too tired, go bug Ugin."
Nahiri starts a fight to establish dominance
N: "Notice me senpai, I'm as strong as you now"
S: "w/e. Avacyn got this"
More scuffling, Sorin calls time out
S: "go to your room. BTW the Helvault is your room now."
N: "You'll pay for this!"
Cue millenia of totally-not-going-crazy
Helvault Breaks
N: "What's this blood crap coming out of me, and why am I so basic again?"
'walks to Zendikar
N: "Shit, Ulamog is out. Guess Zendikar is toast. Better go revenge on Sorin instead of trying to help or anything."

No it wouldn't. Sorin had still broken his word. He made a promise. He broke his promise. And he didn't even have a particularly reasonable excuse.

Saying "well, Nahiri just needed to planeswalk away" is literally the same as "well, Sorin just needed to take a five minute trip to Zendikar" in this scenario.

It's certainly implied that she wouldn't be able to reseal them anyway. She might have been able to re-lock the final ward that Sorin failed to do when Nissa decided the Eldrazi might just leave, but that's no different to Sorin himself.

>>47788527

Yeah, part of their decision to write Avacyn with as little personality as possible means there's no real reason to have her actually interact with things or explore what could have been a fairly interesting dynamic with both Sorin and Nahiri.

So they just share a look, and Nahiri feels zero guilt about driving her insane and making her murder the people she exists to protect purely in hopes it will make Sorin feel bad.
>>
>>47788072
Too bad he's pretty much guaranteed to die in EM
>>
>>47788631
The real issue is how schizophrenic they are with how she's written, she has personality and emotions in some stories but in others she's just a robot. It's really annoying.
>>
>>47788861

Based on the fact that when Doug was asked about if Avacyn knows about Sorin creating her and responded with three scenarios, two of which involved a fairly strong emotional response on Avacyn's part and all of which indicate she has a strong personality and is, y'know, a person, while another guy on the creative team was pretty blunt with his view that "Avacyn's a robot," I feel like creative disagreed on the matter and the boring side won.
>>
>>47788638
Don't say that. They couldn't possibly be stupid enough to kill their only interesting character, right? RIGHT?
>>
>>47788638
I want to believe he'll live and Avacyn will return, dammit.
>>
>>47788936

>>
So, why did Sorin create the Moon anyway? Is it just something to bind the power of Avacyn too? Is it a bigger Helvault? If so, for what?
>>
>>47788861
They made it fairly clear that.she was more robotic as a newborn, then developed a more nuanced personality as she grew. This story shows her (for the most part) as a newborn. That's why she's robotic in this one, and emotive in others.

What bothers me is that they described her.eyes as black the whole time.
>>
You know, none of this would be a problem if you would just let all be one.
>>
>>47788982
Thank you, based Plaguelord.
>>
>>47789013
what?
>>
>>47788895
How sad. Though even recently she's had stories with personality, during the start of 'A Gaze Blank and Pitiless' she's not very roboty at all. I feel like they had to have her be aware of Sorin so that Nahiri could have seen them together so that her actions against Avacyn were justifiable in her eyes. Otherwise she'd just be torturing an angel for her own ends.

>>47788936
I want to believe this is a chance for Avacyn to come back free of Sorin's influence.

>>47788979
Bothered me too.
>>
>>47788974

As far as I can tell, the moon was always there, but after sealing the Eldrazi Sorin figured out how to harness a bit of it to create a dungeon dimension for the fucking demons everywhere to get thrown in.

I suspect the fact there's like a hundred Helavaults worth of moonsilver in the night sky will come into play at some point if this isn't "well, we pulled some bullshit to save Zendikar, let's fuck Innistrad to raise the stakes again."
>>
>>47788982
There's still hope, brother. All will be One.
>>
>>47789030

>>

It's something weird and beyond the power of lithomancy but I believe it's something Sorin found and harnessed, not created.

Emrakul's physical body is going to be trapped inside the moon, and is going to be what keeps her tethered to the plain. Sigardia is, as expected, going to become a replacement Avacyn except with the added duty of being on Eldrazi watch. This will all be Jace's plan. I can see it now.

Question: by the power of the Zendikar trio combined...can they make a new helvault and avacyn....?
I mean they won't cause Sorin will just shove Ugin and Nahiri in it, but still.

Also is it just me or does sorin's pride make problems worse,
>*dick around on zendikar, elf chick gets suspicious and doesn't do Tue one thing I wanted*
>*stuff going wrong on my home plane, better beat up this random guy I found*
>* ancient dragon,dead looks like everyone's screwed*
>*my student's here, tell her to go jump off a bridge*
I'm pretty sure if Sorin swallowed his pride we wouldn't be in this situation..

At this point the only planes walkers that can fix innistrad are Ugin, Tamiyo, or Kord ...
>>
>>47790896

What's Kord going to do, try to be friendly to the unapologetic serial killers that love being monsters in hopes they'll get on board with dropping "let's all gang up on humanity day" every day?
>>
>>47790896
its unclear, oldwalker Sorin/Ugin/Nahiri couldn't seem to destroy the titans (Pretty sure Ugin at this point tried to destroy them rather then just capture them)

but new walkers could, so for all we know they could make a new avacyn and helvault

No, her spark just let her control her own transformations.

ONLY her transformations.

The rest of the werewolves except that one wolfir pack that wasn't undone by Avacyn's fall are either living in freakish misery for the rest of their lives or psychopaths.

I am right there with you, though I'm not sure I have enough faith in the creative team to want to take this in such a complex direction. If she does return at all, it will be as part of the climax, giving us little to no new character development.

A Gaze Blank and Pitiless was written by one of the better writers and it started with her doing good, rather than fighting sources of evil.

Even then, the whole point of that start was to establish that her basic programming is 'improve goodness levels in Innistrad, whatever that entails.' This can be done through slaying vampires and werewolves or through protecting innocents from basic sorts of harm - such as a child getting lost in the woods.

Bolas is pretty much free to do whatever he wants with no one significant to stop him. Ugin is busy studying dedrazi and hasn't regained any lost power, and everyone else is fucking off on Innistrad. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a story featuring Ob as he walks off Zendikar to his home or wherever, is fuming about and at the end he stops and Stares at Bolas waiting for him who says "Hello old friend. Everything Nahiri did made complete sense.

The only thing that didn't made sense was Zendikar actually getting saved and the Titans getting killed. And now she looks pants on head retarded.

She took hundreds of years to build the Hedron Network, and the Jacetice League just burned down two Eldritch Horrors like they were just 7/7 Vanilla Creatures. I knew that crap was going to snowball into the story and it did.

Probably double check her work, make sure the runes were right or the magic around them was flowing correctly. I'm wondering if they're going to stick with the "you're not thinking about the consequences in your short-sighted need to save people right now" angle for Ugin or if at some point people trying to call him on not destroying the Eldrazi millenia ago will cause him to drop the "irritable mentor" act and remind the readers he's a fucking elder dragon Bolas seemed keen to avoid confronting one-on-one who's gotten mighty tired of the lippy little apes he gave very simple instructions to talking like their opinions matter.
>>
>>47795558
No she doesn't because it shouldn't have been possible according to a certain dragon.
A problem a lot of us have is the separation of our knowledge and character knowledge.
Ugin made it seem like destroying them was impossible because it was extremely dangerous and who knows what role the Eldrazi played in nature.
Jace and co. cared more about the people of the plane than nature and we're willing to take that risk to defeat them, and it almost didn't work and wouldn't have if they had stuck to the plan of having Zendikar eat them.

>>
>>47788616
He told her to go away. He's not a neowalker, genuinely weak. Even a weakened oldwalker is still an oldwalker. Just going with her to check is not a great strain on his abilities. We see him discorporate and zip around Innistrad anyway, he's certainly not unable to do it.
>>
>>47790967
Ugin never tried to destroy them, he very explicitly said they couldn't (he was lying), and even if they could (which was possible), they shouldn't (which is not certain).
>>
While this whole Sorin vs Nahiri debate is interesting, what I find more interesting was Nahiri's description of going from oldwalker while in the Helvault to Neowalker.
We've seen before and after's with Liliana but nothing so immediate. Liliana's was after she had adjusted after all.
>>
>>47797279

From what I recall from rereading it, Ugin actually takes special care not to say "they can't be destroyed," he says he doesn't KNOW if they can be destroyed but is sure they shouldn't be.
>>
>>47797334
I thought it was something like "you can't kill the Eldrazi, they're creatures of the Blind Eternities that we can only barely survive in because of our Spark" or something. He admittedly said nothing about killing them by dragging them into the plane, probably because he knew it might work and didn't want anybody asking if it could.

Rifts ripped open across planes, sapping the lands of their mana and making the realities of said planes unstable, so planeswalkers sacrificed their sparks or themselves even to close the rifts and save planes from collapsing, after all that the multiverse changed and planeswalkers were no longer godlike beings.

If only he had some basic social skill, nearly every story with him is basically "Sorin didn't say half the thing he should say and problem ensue". >>

Planeswalker fuckery.

Basically (and this is a very basic account, which may get some details wrong), what happened was that the rifts resulted from imbalance between the Multiverse and the power of Oldwalkers (which is why you needed to throw Oldwalkers into them or have Oldwalkers sacrifice their spark to them to repair a rift), drawing mana directly from the Eternities, casting cataclysmic spells, and so on. Admittedly, they COULD be caused by non-walkers if enough mana was expended, but Oldwalkers were the single biggest cause, because they tended to have the most power. For example, the one of the biggest was the Madaran rift, created by Nicol Bolas and a leviathan during a battle early in Bolas' lifetime, his first-ever planeswalker duel (the battle itself shredded something like a third of a continent to go with it).

And because the rifts in Dominaria were too great for it to self-repair, if Dominaria went, as the centre of the Multiverse at the time, then every other plane would go with it.

What ultimately resulted was that somebody (Jaya?) sealed the major rifts, and once the last one was closed, Dominaria was healed, which spread to the multiverse, and also forced the scales back into balance, drastically depleting the power of the Spark to what it is. Oldwalkers were no more, losing their immortality, godlike magic, and so on (mostly, they arguably are or can still be more than normal mortals, but just having the Spark isn't godhood in itself).

But if she calms down and leaves, then they can't do shit anyway.
>Daughter
Please, she was his malfunctioning scale. He was more dissapointed that he had to break his work as an oldwalker to kill her, ruining Innistrad's balance.
>>
>>47802764
>Sorin called her his child and she referred to herself as his daughter in "I Am Avacyn".
Nah. He considered her his progeny. And technically, she was. They even resembled each other.
>>
And all this fuckery could have been avoided if NAhiri wasn't in tihat time of the month and Sorin hs get in all his millenia of unlife enough common sense to say "Nahiri, I'm a bit drained by setting up this ugly stonework could you give me just five minute and then we will go check the Eldrazi and maybe see what happened to Ugin and maybe get a phone whit a better reach"
