What's the pont of adding more tiers of rarity, and how long can it go on?
A card needs to be printed at least once or else it doesn't exist, so there's definitely a limit.
Usually there's around five levels of rarity. In magic they are:
>Commons
>Uncommons
>Rares
>Mythics
>Unique (Example: 1996 World Champion).
When time travel becomes a thing, we will send cards into the past so we have no way of actually knowing if they exist anymore by the time it is present day, meaning the chance of somebody obtaining it is even lower than 1 in however many cards there are.

But rare cards are only worth more as singles. The company doesn't sell more packs or charge more per pack just because there's a one in a trillion chance of getting that particular card. Anyone who would be interested in the rare card was probably already buying packs regularly anyway.

Generally, no. Also, the unique cards in popular trading card games are literally encased in a glass-like material like a trophy, never seeing play.

You clearly weren't around for Core Sets. If there's nothing interesting to drive the product, people play less limited and buy less product.

What's the problem with core sets? I'm just waiting for a Print of someone along the lines of:

I mean, every new rare right now doesn't make a jump in sales because they are an /expected constant/ by now. If you remove the concept, sales will drop.

High rarity cards are the difference between people coming in and buying like 5 packs to 2 boxes at set release.
Rumors of unannounced special 1 in 5 boxes booster packs that are all ghost rare special edition reverse holo cards that you can't get any other way leave distributors out of stock for months. It doesn't matter if these rumors are true or not.
