Starting in the prelude or the very early wars with a bunch of privateers, pirates, or just private interests in the Indian Ocean, French and British and unaffiliated interests battling over and machinating for India. Even before they realized they shouldn't set their multiverse game solely on Dominaria, Magic built itself on NOT being generic fantasy.
Almost every time someone wants to see a new Magic idea, it's almost entirely in the form of [non-European culture]+[Fantasy subgenre] (or just [Trope world], like Zendikar or Innistrad).
Why would you be surprised when they make their worlds that way? Did people complain that Kamigawa was pandering to inclusive loving liberals because it was Asian? Did people even notice that Ravnica was Eastern European?
Has it occurred to you people that not everyone goes REEEEE over this shit, and that in general making every setting look unique but still identifiable familiar is a marketing strategy designed not to appeal to lefty cucks who think reparations means sucking minority cock and more to appeal to people who want to see new things in the incredibly stagnant genre of fantasy games? And, yeah, that means characters are gonna end up being black or female or whatever, and it means the chick with the name that could only be more Indian if you added an "ackravati" gets made more overtly Indian. It's good business, and makes the brand stronger. Whether or not it appeals to hyperlefties is icing on the cake, but considering Magic seems to be repeatedly one upping itself every year (and is Hasbro's strongest brand, yes, even, last I checked, stronger than D&D), that must be a good demographic to target all the same. But building a strong, iconic brand is not some shadowy cabal trying to take your toys away.
