Would you go easy on her?
>>
Not for anything resembling a tournament
>>
>>47463139
>simple, functional cardbox
>expression of great concentration and care
>hair is unkempt, prioritizes her craft over her appearance
>hat backwards and tilted just-so
>sick-ass shades

She's more likely to beat my ass, but I'm not going down without a fight.
>>
i'd buy her dinner first.
>>
>>47463139
Man, I guess infect is even easier to play then I thought.
>>
>go easy on the girl with the imposing terrifying shades and the gangsta hat
Nigga, this girl means business. She's gonna push your shit in if you're not careful
>>
Depends. Is she playing mono-green? If so, she's going to lose no matter what I play.

Not even

Sure it's a kid and the kid probably has like some sort of disease but you don't have >fun when you let them win. You might get good boy points for it but the 5 minute gratification you feel won't beat the joy in being able to actually do something. I'll beat that shitter to a pulp with a smile on my face and she's gonna like it.
>>
>>47463286
looks like shes playing dredge
>>
>>47463139
No. Its better to be beaten and learn how to deal with it then to be let win. Also it could be a trick and she might actually be good.
>>
>>47463139
Never go easy on anyone in a tournament setting. Do your utmost to obliterate them. Going easy on someone is for when you're teaching them how to play a game.

I learned to play chess when I was 8 and played competitively through high school and university. After I taught people how to play and they became competent enough to make moves without help, I would slaughter them. Some people got mad about it, but I stand by making someone earn the win. My cousin actually managed to beat me once for the first time a few years ago. The victory meant a lot more to him because he finally earned the win and knew that I hadn't held back.
>>
>>47463330
I don't have any fedora reaction pictures because I hate the meme, but I'd be willing to make an exception for this post.
>>
>It's a tourney
NOPE

Why are you playing in a tourney if you aren't playing to win no matter what?
>>
I spent literally $1,800 on my modern competitive deck, so no. I will not give up an easy win because someone decided that a casual deck is tournament ready.

>Stromkirk Noble kicking ass
>Burning Tree Emisary doin work
>Domri Rade possibly not the best decision
>Make it to the semi-finals by putting my hand on the board and turning it sideways
>Opponent is little girl, playing the W/G/R even more all-in version of my deck
>Maybe 10-12 years old
>First two games are close, we're 1-1 and she clearly knows how to play
>Aggro decks become less braindead against each other when you have to deal with blockers, combat tricks, and more complex combat math so I'm impressed
>Game 3 is close but she has a tempo advantage on me
>I make an aggressive attack swinging in with everything
>Dead on board to almost any card in her deck
>She draws
>tanks for a bit
>Can't remember her exact play but we both immediately knew it was the wrong one
>I swing back and kill her

I made a little girl cry, /tg/, and it didn't feel good at all. Her brothers and dad were good sports about it thankfully. I did think it was great that she knew what her mistake was; she wasn't crying because she got beat but because she screwed up. That doesn't feel good when it happens to anyone and I can't expect a child to be able to handle those emotions as well. If anything the fact that she took it hard instead of brushing it off bodes well for her future skill at the game.

>>
>>47463139
I was a casual Magic(tm) player years ago.
But I do play chess competitively, so I think I can answer your question with a decisive "HELL NO!"

You never go easy on your opponent in a tournament. Especially if your opponent is a child. If they've made it into the tournament at that age, it only means they're extremely talented. The one advantage you might have is experience, and you better make the most of it or you'll get eliminated by some 8-year old. You don't go easy on kids, you don't go easy on girls, you fucking play to win.
>>
No. Not only is she a little hipster shit, but she's almost certainly better than me anyway.
>>
>>47463139
Play to win.

She signed up for the chance of losing, and even a child knows what that means. If she wins, I want her to have earned it. If I go easy on her, then I'm wasting her time and robbing her of the chance to earn a real victory.

I know what it feels like to be toyed with when I expect a real competition. You're not doing her any favors by taking a dive.

i would crush her mana
>>
I wouldgo easy in that I would double-check her understanding of the rules and timing, if it looks like she misplayed because she didn't understand something I would say "So yo know it works like X right? Is that what you meant to do?" and let her take the move back. I do that a lot when I play casually but not at a real event unless I'm playing with a very inexperienced player, and the only real concession I'd give to a young kid is that I would initially assume they're very inexperienced.

Besides potentially giving information away with those doublechecks I would not misplay in any way, I would play to win. And if she knows her shit then I'll stop questioning her and just let her play and make her own mistakes. >>47465384 is completely right.

Depends on what deck she brought.

If she brought a kitchen table deck full of shit cards she just liked the art of, she clearly has no interest in learning the game and just wants to fuck around. Not sure why I'm playing against her in the first place, though.

If she brought a competitive deck, going easy on her would be impolite. Same applies to tournaments.
>>
>>47463139
I would do my best to win quickly, then offer to let her have my spot and let her play with my deck if it was in a tourney.

I'm not winning anyways.

Or she beats me and I grab a photo of when a kid beat me at MtG and hope she wins the tournament so I have a memento. Or if she loses next round I hang my head in shame and promise to git gud for next time.

I would never throw a game though. Kids are just tiny generally ignorant people who have difficulty with their emotions. And if I don't make exceptions for the majority of MtG tournament players who are exactly the same, why would I for her?

Dude, little girls cry all the time. It's normal so don't feel bad when it happens.

Now, when you make a grown man cry, that's when you feel bad. Or fantastic if you did it intentionally.

> MFW you're hardwired to feel bad for crying children, good luck with not feeling that way even though you really shouldn't.
>>

>>
>>47470041
Please.

> leaving Merkel in power for 12-14 years.

> Assassinating her after she's no longer in power or relevant.

A real genius would teach the kid to claim to be a Syrian refugee that is white skinned to fight the perception of them all being dark, and use her assumption of innocence to get close to Merkel. At which point when the child asks for a hug (for a photo op) she drops some dimethylmercury on her clothes.

The only issue is how to store it, since harming the kid would be a needlessly dick move.

Ah, DMM. The perfect killing poison if you can find anyone batshit enough insane to use it. Personally I wouldn't go near it at all.

All kids are both sharks and braggarts. Mostly because they don't understand nuances like not taking every advantage possible to uphold a voluntary code of conduct.

To which I add, forget the Marquis of Fantillair and be a shark yourself. This is a competition not a thought exercise. If you successfully shark someone it's because they went easy on you like a lazy asshole and they deserve it.

Hell, it's not even really sharing because you aren't playing badly to raise the stakes and take them for more money. It's the person being condescending because of assumptions and getting kicked in the dick for it.

>Anon actually made $1,800.05 sucking dick. When I asked who gave him the five cents he replied "All of them".

You realise that this would mean that Anon sucks 4767 dicks a day.

Like, that kinda wraps around from being a cheap whore to being the greatest dick sucker in the world, able to finish a dick off in 1-2 seconds.

But at the same time, he's a total workaholic, so the only way he can keep his workload up is by dropping his prices incredibly low, to basically cheat the supply/demand curve.

And a side effect is that he's gotta be MASSIVELY driving down blowjob prices - the "true" price of blowjobs must be astronomical if he can sell 2 second blowjobs for 5 cents and his nearest competitor is able to sell 5-10 minute blowjobs for upwards of $10!

What does this mean? Halfway to 6 figures? Why not say 50k like a normal human being. Saying "mid six figures" is like saying "I get paid one 20th of a million dollars a year."

Or do you mean 500,000? Which would be fucking hilarious but obviously false.

I'd open up with a left cross, followed up with a right uppercut. From here I'd clinch and force her to the ropes where I'd create separation and unload with a 3 piece combo, two to the body and one to the head. I'd reclaim the center of the ring and taunt her, bringing her forward. Where I'd meet her with a thunderous lead left hook. Next, I'd move in for the kill. I'd throw a flurry to the body to bring her hands down and then light her up. Right cross, left straight, right cross, left straight, right cross, left uppercut. And it's over.

It should be noted that I’ve upvoted every single person who’s disagreed with me here, as far as I know. That said. In 7th grade, I took an SAT test without preparing for it at all, it was spur-of-the-moment, I knew about it about an hour ahead of time and didn’t do any research or anything. I scored higher on it than the average person using it to apply for college in my area. An IQ test has shown me to be in the 99.9th percentile for IQ. This is the highest result the test I was given reaches; anything further and they’d consider it to be within the margin of error for that test. My mother’s boyfriend of 8 years is an aerospace engineer who graduated Virginia Tech. At the age of 15, I understand physics better than him, and I owe very little of it to him, as he would rarely give me a decent explanation of anything, just tell me that my ideas were wrong and become aggravated with me for not quite understanding thermodynamics. He’s not particularly successful as an engineer, but I’ve met lots of other engineers who aren’t as good as me at physics, so I’m guessing that’s not just a result of him being bad at it. I’m also pretty good at engineering. I don’t have a degree, and other than physics I don’t have a better understanding of any aspect of engineering than any actual engineer, but I have lots of ingenuity for inventing new things. For example, I independently invented regenerative brakes before finding out what they were, and I was only seven or eight years old when I started inventing wireless electricity solutions (my first idea being to use a powerful infrared laser to transmit energy; admittedly not the best plan). I have independently thought of basically every branch of philosophy I’ve come across. Every question of existentialism which I’ve seen discussed in SMBC or xkcd or Reddit or anywhere else, the thoughts haven’t been new to me. Philosophy has pretty much gotten trivial for me;

At Gencon last year I had to play a young boy of around eight years old. He was playing the Turbofog deck that was popular around the time while I was on Abzan Rally. The first game he kicked my ass, so games two and three I sided in my Reclamation Sages and stomped him. It was super fun and he didn't cry afterwards. It was like any game of Magic against a competent opponent, except the opponent was adorable.

So no, I wouldn't. I'd treat the little loli like any player until she starts playing like someone with no rules knowledge, at which point, yeah, I'd probably turn it into a teaching game during round 2. (Which is something I often do for adult players.)
