So what's a good system for Dark Fantasy?

Seconding WHFRP2e. Cthulhu Dark Ages is fine too. This looks interesting but I have no experience with it.
If you like WFRP, you'll probably like RuneQuest 6.

Seconding Symbaroum. It's very atmospheric, has a very dangerous magic system, some of the coolest elves and ogres I've seen in a long time. Great setting.

Grappling your opponent and accidentally raping them is pretty noblebright, I don't think this is what OP is looking for.

You do know that a troll once got permabanned for recommending FATAL, right?
Runequest, Openquest, Sorcerer, Barbarians of Lemuria, Desolation. Hell I've run dark fantasy games with D&D 4th ed.

Mythras (new name for RQ6) is the best system, and with Classic Fantasy you have literally no excuse to play and OSR game.

5e does dark fantasy better with how punishing the game is on players.

It was like getting Al capone on ax evasion dude, Virt did far worse

Rune Quest/BRP
It's the system Call of Ch'thulhu is based off, it's got dismemberment and permanent wounds, it's modular and can be as high or low fantasy as you like, comes with multiple magic systems and is setting neutral in many incarnations, though the default setting Glorantha is unique, and can get pretty horrifying, as it greatly influenced some aspects of Warhammer Fantasy.

Kingdom Death isn't exactly an RPG but you could do a lot worse for flavor if you wanted to steal the setting.
In a Wicked Age is a little weird but it's another good one for short, dark, conan-style fantasy scenes.
