So we're missing four numbers. I'm thinking Disney leaned on FFG to preview a bunch of their Force Awakens stuff early for May 4th, which accelerated or threw their planned production schedule out of whack.

So we're missing Rebel Vets (SWX53), Scum Aces (SWX54), Scum Vets (SWX55) and Villains of the First Order (SWX56). Thoughts?

The cost of the X-Wing, especially the T-70, makes running more than one kind of prohibitive at 100pts. By the time you're done upgrading it you've sunk 2/3rds of your list into two ships, with scant few options for a third. A nimble T-70 ace like Dameron with BB-8 or a cleverly kitted out Asty with the remainder of your list made up of hard hitters is your best bet.

Jan Ors with Twin Laser Turret

I'm struggling hard with the 3rd ship. I've tried A wings with both Tycho and Jake, but even with 6 dice proton rockets, it's not been great and Jan's ability can't seem to make up for the atk 2.

I'm contemplating Luke with bb8, integrated astromech or Keyan Farlander with Fire control systems for now, but I could use any insight

For thirty points you can field Nera Dantels (26) with Flechette Torpedoes (2), Deadeye (1), and Munitions Failsafe (1).

The trick with this build is that you WANT your torpedoes to miss, so use Deadeye to fire them and hope you don't get lucky. She's a reliable stresser like this, but would be better with Extra Munitions.

I'm trying to make a heist for my players. I'm taking straight up Oceans Eleven: Star Wars Edition.

Currently trying to figure out enough different ways for each player to go for it to be fun so everyone has something to do and they feel like THEY really planned it. But also make it to where the whole thing doesn't turn into a combat encounter with one fucked up dice roll.

Though that is definitely harder to solve than it seems. It's obviously easier if one of 'em is just trying to talk their way in, or is in a restricted area- then they could just be escorted out. But someone climbing through vents or hacking a door would probably be detained if not shot.

The best I've figured out, which still seems like a poor solution to me, is, in one of those cases, they're put in an interrogation room, so that they at least have something to do, and could possibly escape if they're really skilled- and could at the very least be saved.

My main complaint is that the xwing system is mostly unrelated to the rest of the topics. There should be a place to discuss tactics and stuff but it is so different from the rest of the topics that treads are disjointed. This, on top of the frequency of posts increasing thread turnaround time, is why I suggested it.

Like if we start arguing about stats on a weapon in EotE, we can use all sorts of different systems for comparison on top of bullshitting about lore. Rules for xwing are more cut and dry. Discussions don't overlap in the same way because of how the system works.

Also, have fun with the FFG books - granted they are like 65% identical, but they all fun. System takes longer to get used to if you've played other rpgs, but new players pick up the narrative system faster.

If you want PS9 Poe you should give him some EPT like Predator or PTL, i would drop the B to a Chardaan refitted Proto pilot, then with those 7 points you should can give EU and possibly swap PTL to VI on Corran as he really shines with PS10, that leaves you with 5 points, enough to upgrade Poe to Nu Poe, swap VI for Predator/PTL and leaves 1 point that you can use for the new title or a 1 pt bid

Yes, but keep in mind that realistically, you're still limited to whatever really makes sense on a specific task. So building/tinkering with a gun, you could probably really only have like 2-3 people around it working on it - fixing/modding a ship, you could probably have 6+. So in general, it's better to have the fewer, but more skilled, hands helping you as opposed to churning out a ton of minions.

Imperial Assault got a closer look at the upcoming Lando pack today. Another good mid-cost unique for Rebels. The more of these we get, the more obvious it is that Han and Chewie are overcosted and unplayable.

The problem I've always seen with PtL Poe and BB-8, is he's predictable. Sure he can barrel-roll, boost, reveal a green, and then focus... But the T-70's list of green maneuvers isn't impressive. In fact, they're the exact same green maneuvers the Starviper has. And with how BB-8 triggers, you don't tend to see Poe popping PtL on his actual action, thus requiring a Green with no BB-8 shenanigans on the next turn. Because of this, I found that despite the action economy, Poe in this setup is really easy to predict. They will likely go straight 1 thru 3, or bank 1, and will set themselves up a lateral roll and possibly a 1 bank/straight or TL/Focus before they do that.

Effectively, we have a PS9 murderhobo with a potential action economy of 4 actions and access to BR and Boost.

The Rey build is one me and my friend had a bit of an argument over timings and whether or not FFG are going to errata it away for being too broken.
Essentially, with Kanan and the new Title having the same timing then the player get's to choose what order they resolve. So, you could move 3 -> Use the title to S-Loop -> Then have Kanan go off to lose the stress -> Kyle then gives you a focus -> Engine Upgrade boost.
This is OUTRAGEOUS manevouerability, as well as making Rey's ability incredibly solid when paired up with Kyle's. To which you can combine with (in this case) Opportunist for even more dice where applicable (although an extra stress kind of breaks the combo a bit), or pretty much anything.

The timing deal on the new MF title and Kanan's ability, will be interesting to see. I'd be willing to bet money that it gets ruled so that the MF gaining a stress occurs after Kanan's ability goes off. But that'd still be good.

All things considered however, the Falcon is not the most survivable of ships without C-3P0 and the Evade action. In this setup you are banking on trying to Arc-Dodge and not get shot, as you otherwise have just 1 Agility and a Focus to work with. I've flown enough B-Wings to know that doesn't last long, especially when shields are gone and you're stacking crits.

The PtL Poe build, as mentioned earlier, lacks in that it is predictable. Your only greens are straight and 1 banks. Compared to Fel, who has all the 2 speed maneuvers, and up to 4 speed straight as green, this makes PS 9 Poe considerably easier to second guess. Plus Fel has the ever useful ability to PtL and get both an Evade and Focus, whereas Poe is stuck with just Focus, 1 less Agility (and twice the health).

I would say the build has potential. They're both going to be solid ships, and it can definitely wreck face in the right hands. But I woulsn't say it's "broken" tier, or meta-shattering.

So I'm trying to flesh out my BBEG for my FaD campaign. He was a Jedi before the clone wars, but defected to the Separatists because he was an idealist who agreed with Dooku.

At the moment his motivation for being disillusioned from the jedi was a relatively successful rescue mission - though he wasn't able to save a little girl. Basically the response of "Well its the will of the force, and it could have been way worse. Good Job." really got under his skin and caused him to leave the order. He goes off to join up with Dooku and gets turned to the dark side. The scene I'm imagining is basically Herr Starr's origin flashback from volume 6 of Preacher, but in space.

I'm considering adding a detail - that the Jedi counsel assigned him to spy on Dooku (cause there are Sith out there you know) and that is another push away from the order, but it may be overkill at that point.

As a result, he fights for the Seperatists for a bit, and during the Clone Wars he kills his wife because he thinks she's the only one who could convince him to stop. (he was a Corellian Jedi - so he could get married)

Any other ideas on how to break the will of a Jedi idealist?

Or that he thought she had a huge lady-boner for Mace Windu, and it bothered him more than he admitted. The chronology of it is that he's fallen by the time he kills his wife during the middle of the Clone wars. At that point he's got his basic plan in place and he spends the time between trilogies putting his plan into action with the cash and connections he steals from the separatist army in the last days of the clone wars.

Justification for killing his wife was he thought she might have been able to convince him to abandon the plan. They'd have been estranged for a while at that point.

Ranged attacks targeting you get -2 accuracy (you need X accuracy to hit a target X spaces away), and when you attack, you gain an extra surge and lose the hidden condition. Being hidden does a lot to protect against medium- to long-range potshots. However, those mostly occur on the first turn, before Lando would have much chance to hide himself.

Pic related will make great use of hiding, especially because he can use the deflection command card (another -2 accuracy, and if you don't suffer any damage from the attack, deal 2 damage to the attacker). Starting a skirmish off hidden also means he's much less at risk on the first round.

If we're talking something along the lines of a YT-1300 or 2400, it could be effectively flown by a single pilot. For point A to B you'd be fine. Maybe some difficulty physically loading and unloading cargo but for the bare minimum you'd survive. With some modifications you could perhaps even lock the gun turrets forward and manage combat with a single pilot.
If you add in a co-pilot they could manage shields and systems so the pilot could concentrate on flying in combat. An extra set of hands would help with cargo hauling as well.
Add in 1 or 2 gunners and you're damn well set. In combat the pilot flies, the co-pilot coordinates, and the gunners shoot in the full 360 arcs of the turrets allow rather than locked forward.

Heroes of the Aturi Cluster is actually pretty fire. I've played most of a campaign (we only stopped due to half of our members having to leave for familly reasons), and it was good. You're gonna need a lot of cash to get enough ties though, so play with a group. The sheets are nice but you don't need them to play.

Just look up a real ship that's about the same size and divide the standard crew complement by 10 to call it a "skeleton crew."
My group captured an Imperial Raider, which is 150 meters long, so I looked up a typical naval destroyer about the same length and saw that they are usually crewed by 170-200 men.
So I told them, they could move it from point A to point be with just the party(6 of them), but to be effective in combat, they'll need to hire on at least 20 people.
They got 30 and I'm looking forward to running them through the ringer.
For the sake of simplicity, we've been using the X-Wing rules for dogfights since EotE's own rules are pretty dogshit.
Working on a larger space scenario using Armada rules. Trying to make it tough and scary enough to make them move, but not too murderous.

The difference between Boba and Phasma is that in Boba's first movie he stood around and looked cool, growled 3-4 lines, was respected by Vader and sussed out Han's trick to escape the Imperials. You can fabricate cool out of that deserved or otherwise.

In Phasma's first movie she spends the first half reprising the role of the boss from Office Space and in the second half was captured without a fight, gave up classified intel without being tortured (and was barely threatened) and was unceremoniously dumped in a trash compactor. There is nothing to hang cool on. The one thing they could have done to make her cool they gave to a throwaway character.
Whether you like the idea of her character or not, the writer's wasted it.

Remind them that the big reason you have more crew is redundancy. Fatigue builds up over time, can't throw people at a problem to make it go away, crew deaths mean entire systems are unmanned. Command efficiency breaks down when one guy tries to wear twenty hats. The titular head engineer can't fix the garbage compactor when he spends every waking hour keeping the engines from exploding. And so on.

I had this idea I've been mulling around for a while about this retelling of the Battle of Turkana of X-Wing fame. From what I’ve read it was the first major fleet engagement of the Civil War and the first involving X-Wings, TIE Interceptors, and Mon-Cal Cruisers. What’s interesting is that there were a lot of major military figures that participated in the battle. Ackbar and Piett were present. Wedge fought his first engagement there and shot down three TIES before ejecting.

In Legends it was primarily a Starfighter engagement and no capital ships were lost, but I was thinking of expanding it and making it a major battle in the vein of Endor or Yavin and tell in from multiple perspectives like classic war movies such as Tora Tora Tora, Midway, etc. For the Rebels the primary perspective is Ackbar, recently promoted to Fleet Admiral and given the seeming impossible task of forging a unified fleet capable of engaging the Empire. From the Imperial perspective its Piett, fighting on behalf of a war machine that’s on paper is superior but in reality is overextended, struggling to maintain order in the outer rim, and undermined by incompetence and backstabbing in the upper echelons.

There's maintenance as well. After a month or so without proper maintenance things are going to start getting !!fun!! as code gets buggy, minor leaks and breaches build up and systems generally become less reliable.

With fatigue comes stupid mistakes as well. Mix up a docking protocol and you end up venting cargo. Arming a weapon before loading may lead to detonation before firing.

Secondary stories would be from the perspective of Wedge and an imperial pilot and their struggles to survive. With it before the Battle of Yavin, you could introduce other pilots like Garven Dreis (Red Leader) and Davish "Pops" Krail (Gold Five) trying to train these new recruits before being flung into the fire.

A bit late reply, but thanks. This seems great. Guess I'd need to check mostly the rules, because the majority of Tie variants isn't available around these parts so there would be necessary adaptations.

I also found a local group so I'd guess this could be a vible options. That said, I'm still a novice and i'd like to try my luck in competitions and such. Low level stuff but I tend to prefer GM'ing low power games:

Loser of a card game gone bad. Some guy got swindled at cards and wants the other 4-6 people at the table beaten up/kidnapped/robbed/killed (pick one or more). He's paying per person with a bonus for all of them. If you want moral grey area have the party discover that he wasn't, in fact, swindled, he's just terrible at cards.

The angry ex of a quest giver of the party (or anyone of an average relationship on a decent first name basis) wants that person super dead. Let the party struggle with suddenly the bounty that has a name and face and history. Will they pick money or the sorta-but-not-really-friend?

The target of this bounty has stolen something from the patron. The patron doesn't want the target dead or even hurt, they just want their stuff back AND an in-person apology from the target. The item that was stolen is of a decent monetary value. The patron is usually very much against violence but the police or whoever won't help. The party has to convince the target to apologize but the patron will become upset if they force them to do so through violence or threats of violence, especially if it happens right in front of them. The PCs could, alternatively, steal the item for themselves.

A bounty on another bounty hunter who is hunting the patron.

The Imperial Field Commander's guide that came out a little while ago has a great section on Turkana, the official art depicts the Rebels entirely losing an MC80 and the Imperials most their TIEs, but the Destroyers get out.

Not sure why the Wook just says 'heavily damaged', probably because it doesn't outright say it was destroyed in the text - but the image has it literally exploding under turbo laser fire.

So, how do you determine what's too much to throw at your party? I've realized recently I may have only one or two games left with half of my players who are moving back to the States and I'm going to ramp up the story to finish it.

They've already meet the big bag imperial agent once, but he was only there to arrest their patron. Now that they're back in core world territory he can bring the full brunt of the empire on them and I'm struggling to figure out if he should have a squad or whole platoon supporting him. One character will likely have bio grenades (like galaxies combat medic) by then, two have fully maxed sense force powers, and another is a rather beastly gunslinger... They're being hunted because they have uncovered the truth of the Rakatan empire.

Ah well. 3 Action Economy isn't bad. Sure, one of those actions HAS to be a BR, but if you always PTL before your green maneouver then it's basically free actions.

Black One title is also going to give ATC DArth problems as well, as now he has to constantly use an action to re-up the TL, which he can't spend in order to use ATC.
It's not the end of the world, but it does mean Darth can't just get behind Poe and Evade - Focus constantly.
Plus, I haven't worked it exactly out, but if poe constantly F or Bank 1's whilst Barrel Rolling as far back as he can, then I think there's a good chance he can force Darth to overshoot him since the Advanced doesn't have a forward 1.

I've had that problem with my A-Wings where a guy I'm behind goes slow and forces me to overshoot or ram.

In the back of my head, I'm thinking the Battle of Turkana is the fight that inspires that line in A New Hope that the Rebels are more powerful than you realize. It must have been a real shock when Star Destroyers, supposedly the most powerful ships in the galaxy, are suddenly going toe to toe with ships that are superior to them in certain aspects (shields, hull strength) and crafted by so called inferior aliens. Add to that the power of the Rebels' starfighter corps and I can see it completely undermining the Empire's image of an unstoppable war machine.

It also could further justify, in the Emperor's mind, the construction of the Death Star. The Empire is already taxing known space to the brink and creating the largest military ever, and its STILL not enough to control the galaxy. The only way to rule a galaxy this vast is with the fear of overwhelming unstoppable force, which also happens to neatly fits with his Sith mentality.
