>MTGO Pauper Guide
https://www.cardhoarder.com/mtgo-beginner-guide

>What are some top tier decks I can get on MTGO/Paper?
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper

>BUT I WANT TO SEE ALL VIABLE DECKS!
http://tappedout.net/users/fruuty/deck-folders/

>Which rules should I follow?
If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.

>WAHHH THATS TOO HARD WHERE...
http://www.mtg-hunter.com
The bottom left has a box, select MTGO Pauper, all cards in the card pool and banlist are taken into account.

>What deck should I use?
Ask in the thread!

>Is MTGO worth it?
If you have no local paper competition, but want to play a vast amount of Pauper, it can't be beat, even if it is a clunky GUI, you learn quickly.

Some good decks for newbies include but are not limited to:
>Burn
>Elves
>Goblins
>Stompy
>Slivers
>Affinity
>Mono U control
>UB Teachings

My LGS plays paper pauper and allow Goblin Grenade. I've been testing this Red Metal list based on my old standard Zendikar/Mirrodin list and it honestly seems disgusting.

4x Ornithopter
4x Foundry Street Denizen
4x Goblin Bushwhacker
4x Mogg War Marshal
1x Skirk Prospector

4x Kuldotha Rebirth
3x Panic Spellbomb
4x Gitaxian Probe
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Goblin Grenade
3x Reckless Abandon

4x Great Furnace
3x Teetering Peaks (may change to Smoldering Spires)
10x Mountain

It's just hardcore value, which is pretty much every BUG archetype deck. Typically it goes reen for fatties and mana, blue for draw and counters, black for hand disruption and removal. BUG wins by grinding your opponent down with resources.

I tried last time but it's REALLY quiet here. Here's a BG Aristocrats deck I've been thinking about for some time, just wanna pen it down somewhere.

4x Young Wolf
4x Blisterpod
4x Nest Invader
4x Carrion Feeder
2x Nantuko Husk
4x Driver of the Dead
2x Ornithopter

4x Springleaf Drum
4x Rancor
3x Swarm Surge
3x Grisly Salvage
2x Fling

4x Jungle Hollow
2x Holdout Settlement
7x Swamp
7x Forest

With some Gurmag Anglers and Vault Skirges in the sideboard for mode shifting. Not sure if Unearth would be better than Driver, and whether Chainer's Edict sits better in the Grisly Salvage slot.
>>
>>47086040
Driver is really synergistic, I'm just wondering if it's not cost prohibitive over something like Unearth. Swarm Surge seems sick if you can stack up enough bodies. I would think you might want to run a couple Altar's Reap, just for a bit of gas.
>>
>>47086152
In a deck like this I like to think of Driver as a Sorcery-Speed Collected Company. If I was asked to run Altar's Reap, I'd go for Sign in Blood or Read the Bones, I had them as a two of in a earlier draft.

If the Fling plan turns out too janky for this deck, which I hope not, I've got 6 Red sources, I might replace those with a gas spell.
>>
>>47086152
I guess cost prohibitive is something I'll have to test online for. I do have Scions and Springleaf Drum though. One more thing, do you think Hunger of the Howlpack is potentially better than Rancor?

>>
>>47085119
I played against this online yesterday and it was really good. That version had Sylvok Lifestaff as well.

The deck is really good at grinding out value. Its fairly impervious to most removal and pretty well immune to bounce.

>>
>>47086350
Not at all. The trample alone is super valuable, as is the recursion, especially in a sac deck. Maybe the toughness bonus is worth something on Howl, but overall I wouldn't think they're close. Rancor is an absurd card.

Goblin Fireslinger Vs Spark Elemental as a 3 of in Burn? Is main boarding anti Delver really better with fireslinger?
>>
>>47096053
You shouldn't care about Delver or even about interactions at all, you should just spam your 1 CMC 3 damage spells as fast as humanly possible. Their counterspells cost 2 mana only, so you'll have the tempo and mana advantage anyways.

That said, Spark is pretty bad, so go with Fireslinger unless you're not running:

4 Lava Spike
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chain Lightning
4 Rift Bolt
4 Shard Volley
4 Flame Rift
3 Fireblast

If you're missing something from there, then use those 3 slots on it.

are land destruction or stompy/all-in red viable in pauper? Coming from modern it seems like there's a lot of good mana acceleration and land destruction but not a lot of good finishers.
>>
>>47112448
Doubtful. Most common land destruction in red is 4 cost. Black has several 3 cost spells plus sinkhole, but even so I think you'd be likely to get run over by a burn deck or a t1 delver with daze backup.

Black also has Dark Ritual, which I would recommend. Your best curve would end up being
>t1 land, dark rit, 3cmc
>t2 land, sinkhole
>t3 land, 3cmc

It definitely has potential, but there are a lot of fast decks in pauper that will just lay you out if your draw is slow.

>>
>>47092561

>>47117988
i added ickspitter because there is a lot of card disadvantage built into the spells and no ways to gain card advantage other than combat. Although i guess going card to card with the opponent shouldn't matter if they can't play spells so maybe more Raiders would be better

i like borderposts because i get to keep mana sources while spamming akki dudes and tremble
what's a good t1 play other than borderposts? in modern i would lead with inquisition or thoughtseize but idk if that's worthwhile in pauper.

>>
Is Burn considered tier 1 in Pauper? It's so much cheaper compared to the other top tier Pauper Decks.
>>
>>47128990
Are you out of your fucking mind.

Burn is one of the most expensive decks to make in paper pauper. You must mean online. Burn is a Tier 1 deck but the meta changes all the time. Slivers was kicking ass for a while. People dislike burn because they think it's boring while they take 50 hours to play thier fucking mill deck which must be as exciting a fuck.
>>
>>47128638
Goblins is probably a miss unless they're running token generating sorceries or Bolts, but Goblins is probably just a bad matchup, it's the nature of the deck. Still, you could beat them with land destruction on a 2-land Cohort/Flunkies draw or something. Duress is honestly a great card against so many decks though, from blue control to stompy to Reanimator builds, it's definitely worth running.
>>
>>47128638
Also, Gorilla Shaman seems straight up busted against Affinity. 1 mana to blow up their lands? Yes please.
>>
>>47119128
I think the dual color enchantments are seriously underplayed. That one seems sick with Prowess creatures if you're running a burn/draw build (remember that shroud turns off any pump spells). Clout seems like a great way to make your Wee Dragonauts basically unkillable, which is its biggest downside aside from costing 3 mana. Flying is so good in pauper it's nuts.
>>
>>47128990
Burn is great, but you'll be sick of it after a single daily. It's ridiculously boring.

wtf man

Yeah, same problem here. I'd start up my own deal with other players. It was easy to steal the pauper players from the group once i told them we could play MTGO rules at my place.

Really pissed off the other organizer though lol.

You mill your opponent when you Thought Scour?

Why can't we just play paper pauper with the MTGO banlist?

huh, i was thinking goblins or any deck that runs less lands than me (around 20) would be a decent matchup, especially ones without draw/dig. i have access to good removal and big creatures that are hard for them to kill. idk though since i haven't had time to get my feet wet.

>>47131338
yeah, makes perfect sense for a land destruction strategy.
Also, why am i seeing relic of progenitus being run instead of nihil spellbomb in black decks with flashback cards?
>>
>>47133856
> why am i seeing relic of progenitus
It doesn't have a tick ability I guess? Honestly I have no idea, it seems awful.

Is mono-u still tier 1 without CoF? I managed to scrounge up the pieces and then they made the ban announcement soon after and want to come back now. I also have mono-w soul sisters so I had a spare deck.
>>
>>47134054
There's plenty of other powerful cards in it, you just don't get the spellstutter sprite interaction.
>>
>>47133684
Because that's not Pauper you idiot. The ban list would be longer if MTGO had every single common in it.

Your playing kitchen table. Not Pauper, which is a format by WotC.

MaRo pls go
>>
>>47134381
And if you think Goblin Grenade would make the banlist, I'm not the idiot here.

pauper at cardkingdom twitch

My LGS allows paper commons. So far only hymn has gotten banned, but GG Goblins is still crazy and pushes the deck to t1 by itself. But doesnt seem ban worthy.

The other cards in the cardkindom's banlist barely get played. I think tron and teachings play a couple of merchant scrolls and thats it.

High Tide without faeries is just cute; sinkhole without a mana denial strategy to support it is just out of place.

Free bump from a vendor that's trying to add MtG to his wares.

Read the OP. Unless the MTGO rules and card pool are followed pauper is dead in the water due to old Commons not being around as much and no stable meta to analyze like standard and modern.

There shouldn't be "paper pauper". There is only Pauper. Please lay whatever homebrew you want, the newer players and venues and even big tournaments are going with MTGO banlist and card pool.

I refuse to play with idiots that do every paper common. You should too. Read the OP.

Pig Trinket just got taken out by Bogles in the CardKingdom twitch Stream, the player made a misplay though, I think he coulda won

You guys should check it out it's pretty chill

I'm surprised that there's a pauper stream going on. I had never seen RUG Tron in action.
