I just had a game where the guy kept trying to boost into the middle of my Ork and Imperial fleets to do something (I guess trying to 180 turn on my back and line up for that stupid line attack.). Worst thing is that they do this in groups going for the bulk of my army.

It's really hard to say. If you are fighting other chaos the launcher probe is better.
But it might be better with the stationary sensor unless you are using a battleship(which you can't afford to get close)
Using the stationary you are fast anyway so you can fly away if danger got to close, besides if they pull a dick move like staying inside the clouds all day you will only get a brief moment where you can see them)not enough time to kite them)
Also the stationary is create for pegging eldar ships with so they can never hide.

That said I don't think fresh Ork players have any real options for dealing with Eldar pulsar spam. The other Eldar player took a Shadow and a Solaris but my Solaris and Aconites dismantled his ship his Solaris and finished off the Shadow.

Other than that, I've already replaced a few of my ships with ships that have ordnance bays or torps. Only reason I kept my mars class is because it already has ord bays. Same thing with any Goff ships for my orks, they have stealthy moves now.

I just played a hilarious skirmish with the AI. It was Assassination, I was Imps and the AI was Eldar. In the bottom right corner of my deployment zone was a big barrier object, a bunch of crystal asteroids. I parked my flagship in the corner, put my battleship and other cruiser blocking one approach, and spent the entire battle watching the Eldar just ramming into the object or my warships, unable to mass pulsar fire or maneuver around to flank my fleet. It was great.

Space Marines are coming soon, and another unknown faction (probably Necrons, Tyranids or Tau) later this year. Personally I'm holding out for Necrons (who were actually in that area of space), with Tyranids and Tau getting a dedicated expansion dealing with the eastern fringe and the Tau second or third sphere expansion.

If you play chaos here is how I counter them. Carnage cruisers, slanesh favor, warp jump and taunt. Take increased sight range favor(makes your warp jump longer and makes it easier to see the buggers) and armor piercing macros, then for the rest of the upgrades take tanky ones. The basic idea is you bait em in cuz hur durr chaos are carriers they can catch me, when you see em get close or the pulsar warming up, warp on top of them. Throw a slanesh favor on the battleship and chain taunt it, ramming it and tearing it up with the macros. If it somehow doesnt die through your taunts, just keep chain slaneshing it so it cant boost away or anything.

They're good for different jobs. If you have a Nova heavy fleet (Mars and Dominators), then the prow lance helps make up for your lack of Gothic and Lunar lances. While in a torp focussed one, the mk2 adds additional weight to the barrages.
