5 of 'em is 1475 points minimum. Windrider host to unlock the decurion is 358 points, or 448 if you're putting scatter lasers on all the jetbikes. So, you can fit 5 WK into 1850 if you go without scatter lasers, or into 2000 points if you take scatterbikes.

nub here

how dumb would it be for a chaos space marine warband to work with one of the craftier necron dynasties in return for tech, CSM who are basically shills for crons and covered in cybernetics and rumored perhaps to even be under the mind control of an overlord . . .

is this is a viable theme for a chaos army or too far fetched to be realistic in-universe?

>>
HQ: Sorc w/ Terminator + MoT + Burning Brand = 130
HQ: Daemon Prince + DoT + Wings + Armour + Black Mace = 265

Troops x2 : 8+1 rubrics/sorc = 484

Elite: 4+1 Termies/champ w/ Reaper AC + 4x Combi-Weapons + MoT = 229

Dedicated Transport (Rubrics): 2x Rhino + Dirge Caster = 80

Cyclopia Cabal with 5 Sorcs with Bikes, Spell Familiars and VotLW = 500

>>46887246
If I ditch a rhino it would be asymmetrical and my OCD flares up BUT i wouldn't have to convert my other rhino from Khornate dedication to Tzeentchian/Thousand Sons, so there's that real world hassle to judge. But I can't cut out the Autocannon termie as I'd need to give him SOMETHING. The cheapest option if a combi-weapon, and I'd be freeing too few points (18 points left and nothing else to remove).

If I remove a rubric from each, I would have 8 points OVER to spend on something. Possibly a Gift of Mutation to my Warlord or give each Rhino an extra combi-bolter.
>>
>>46887328

get rid of the dirge casters on rhinos, they're not even really worth it with assault units and ksons shouldn't be charging in their wildest dreams

yeah, and is a single wound MEQ with bog standard stats who will get raped by anything that cares about ID. you should be shooting those AP3 bolters at marines at all times, the force sword is stupid but mandatory so I guess it's just useful when your dudes get charged
>>
>>46887504
Technically, you should charge if you think you're about to be charged, since you don't give up any shooting to do so and you can't fire overwatch anyway, but at that point things have gone wrong regardless.
>>
>>46887429
I can't get rid of the VotLW, the Cyclopia Cabal is one of the new Black Legion formations and thus the rule is mandatory, unfortunately.

>>46887444
Ahh, shit. I'll think about it. I really want to keep my termies and have them finally achieve something. It's a good gun, I'm hoping to Deepstrike them and use them as a small firebase. The Sorc with the Brand has a good 20 inch template threat range at AP3 and with the meltas, flamers or plasmas I carry I can make the termies melt something to get their fucking points back for once!
>>
I'm not sure if I should give my knight warden a melta gun or a stubber.
>>
>>46887545

It's overcosted sure, but 400 is way too low. Comparing to Wraithknights is worthless since they're an outlier.
>>
>>46887673
It's alright man. i just want to know which would be more sensible. Losing a rhino and having one squad mobile and the other footslogging or just ditch 1 rubric from each squad (Oh god going from Tzeentch's 9 to Khorne's 8.. I'm pretty sure I'll get cursed by both).

I would be adding 2 Forgefiends so that's a good firepower tradeoff but y'know.

Yes sirma'am that is a CAD. The rhinos would definitely help me capture objectives and Rubrics being tough mofos, they could hold them reasonably well and drill anyone with a 3+ armour save full of holes if they came close.

>Also, Tzeench is going to laugh his ass off when Khorne sees his holy number soiled by filthy Psykers and dustmen.
What's funnier is that i have 2 Rhinos, but I always thought I'm going to be using only 1 for my TS army... with the regular CSM squad. The other Is done up Khornate for my KDK's berzerkers. So the Rhino has to be converted to switch dedication. Khorne's gonna be ultramad.

Yes.

Unless the unit you killed in the shooting phase was a transporting vehicle, in which case you can assault the unit that was previously embarked.

That's right. Some units can shoot more than one target so even if they obliterate something they can still charge another target they plinked at. Knights, for example.

Correct. Super-heavy Walkers and Gargantuan creatures however can split their fire between any number of target units, and can charge any that they shot at. This allows a Knight to, for example, fire their Battlecannon at a long range threat then fire their stubber at what they want to charge.

I remember one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books had huge portions of the populace draw random symbols until the produced legit Chaos ones, which could be a Tzeentch 'research' project.

If we're assuming regular worlds that have fallen to Tzeentch, then it's like the most complex machiavellian politics ever, magical knowledge is power, psykers are either currency or in charge.
Power is in constant flux, people are deposed, turn to spawn, fall and rise in influence at incredible rates.

Think of what sort of stuff a planet ruled by a bunch of insane wizards would have, and that's it.

Renegades or cultists would probably have robes, be constantly plotting the downfall of their superiors and their fellows, and prefer flamers, weird daemon or magic weapons if they could get them, and sacrificing their fellows to preform sorcerous rituals for battlefield support.

After some discussion in another thread over a 750 point match, I figured I'd try and figure out a good build for a 1500 since for that I'll actually have time to buy and build. This is for a narratively driven campaign that has the points each fortnight slowly raising, half the players are using chaos but tyranids, orks and harlequins also have players. There was some criticism of having Creed in the build, but I really want him in there for narrative purposes and also the fact that we get to choose our warlord traits rather than roll for them.

Lower the cost on some of their options, like how Vanguard vets get 5 point powerswords.

Thrown in an option for Jump packs as well.

Let the Champion buy the old Ravagers upgrade for Preferred enemy. That helps them a lot.

Give them Combi-bolters standard. Let up to 4 buy Heavy Bolters (which get AP 3) for 5 pts each. The champion becomes an optional upgrade, and if taken he always knows Doombolt.

Scion fluff sucks.

Here's what you do, go find the write ups for Medal of Honor citations and replace certain words with their 40k counterparts. EZ. Here's an example:

>Sergeant Aron Voidson
>Date of Issue: 999.M41
>115th Cadian Kasrkin, "The Sea Eagles"

>For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the Emperor's expectations while serving as a Plasma Gunner with Company F, 2d Battalion, 115th Cadian in Kasr Gallen, Cadia in support of the Imperial reconquest. Sergeant Voidson was a member of a platoon-sized Imperial force, comprised of two Kasrkin squads partnered with elements of the Inquisition. The platoon had established a strong point two days earlier in a small village in the Mechanicus Trade District in order to disrupt enemy activity and provide security for the local PDF garrison. Sergeant Voidson and a fellow Kasrkin were manning a rooftop security position on their perimeter when the agents of the Archenemy initiated a daylight attack with frag grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation, and with complete disregard for his own safety, Sergeant Voidson moved toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Kasrkin from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Kasrkin. By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to the Golden Throne in the face of almost certain death, Sergeant Voidson reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Kasrkin, the Imperial Guard, and the Imperium of Man.

>He is hereby given the Crux Imperialis.

If you're planning on driving them around in a Rhino, I'd say the Grav Cannon just to jeep them more mobile.

Grav Cannon is Salvo, which means if you move, it fires 3 shots at half-range, instead of snap-shotting like other Heavy weapons.

You're generally best off making sure a squad has similar guns. Mixing can have odd results.

That said, Centurions are a better platform for Gravcannons overall, since SnP really helps them expand their threat range and maintain firepower.

They're still quite expensive, though the durability helps ensure you aren't as likely to lose an expensive Grav cannon like in a normal squad.

>>46893059
Librarius conclave is a formation, you can't use them as a HQ choice. Go reread your rulebook's section on detachments, or download it from the OP if you don't have it. When your list is legal i'll give c&c
>>46893508
Your warriors are given way, way too many upgrades. If you're fielding them at all, give them a biocannon and keep them in the backfield. Give your broodlord the extra attack for 4 points. Lictors are best run individually, so one unit of two and one of one would be better. Quintus is fine. I would drop the warrior brood for three units of min-size gaunts of either description, you have enough synapse already. Consider swapping deathleaper for a Flyrant, they really are the best thing in the codex by far

50 man blob with 5 flamers, 5 autocannons to get a bunch of priestly faith and psychic powers shoved up their asses.

Is it worth 50 points to give them all krak grenades to tear monstrous creatures and AV 12 and below walkers apart in CC? It's not unlikely they'll encounter daemons, nids and probably some tau suits.

>can't use as HQ

Um what?

From page 121 of the small rulebook, in the black box:

>Unless stated otherwise, each individual unit maintains its normal Battlefield Role when taken as part of a formation.

From the Spess Mehreens 'dex:

>Note that you can also include any of the Formations presented in
this section as part of a Battle-forged army.

So I'm allowed to take the 3 Libs in the Formation and they can still count as HQ choices, no?
>>
>>46893970

Battlefield Role doesn't mean CAD requirement fulfillment. They are HQs but they aren't your mandatory CAD HQs because they are the fucking HQs you put in the Librarius. The Librarius consists of 3-5 HQ Librarians.
>>
>>46893970

You can't take them as both a formation and a normal detachment. The formation is its own detachment. You can't just randomly slot that shit into the normal detachment, you're not Imperial Guard.

>Unless stated otherwise, each individual unit maintains its normal Battlefield Role when taken as part of a formation.
>when taken as part of a formation

YOU TOOK THEM AS A FORMATION DETACHMENT, YOU CAN'T RE-TAKE THEM IN ANOTHER DETACHMENT, EACH MODEL CAN ONLY BELONG IN A SINGLE DETACHMENT, PRETTY SURE THAT'S IN THE RULEBOOK.
>>
>>46893970
Each individual model can be only taken in a single detachment, unless otherwise stated. The CAD is a different detachment than a Librarius Conclave formation.

ok, the librarius conclave is a seperate detachment, so list it seperately from the rest of your marines. I would honestly reccomend dropping it entirely for the moment until you play some 1k point games. You don't need it, and a beginner list with gravbikes and a conclave reeks of netlisting. Consider giving your HQ librarian ML2 and some method of getting around, like a jump pack or a bike-footslogging will get you killed. Bikes are fine, gravbikes are too good. What are you putting in that lone drop pod? Once again, your tac squads are gonna get minced because they're footslogging, give them rhinos.

Drop the hellrifle and daemonblade from your malleus (and you've fucked up your pricing on him btw, he should be 102), either give him termie armour and an incinerator or psycannon, or keep him cheap with just the skulls and ML, since he's a t3 s3 'umie git he can't use the toys very well.
Your warbands are once again mostly footslogging, stop that. Never, ever take plasma pistols, they're a shitty trap option.
Stormtroopers are allright except the scions have no weapons. Cut the plasma pistols, give them either melta, plasma or volleyguns.

Overall, your list is pretty awful, has too many footsloggers, trap options, no long-range firepower, and has little synergy other than taking things that the internet says are good. Buy 500 points of marines, paint them, play some games, come back with experience.

>plasma pistols
wait wat? what's wrong with plasma pistols? Extra attack in CC, good for the scion melta squad since they're suicide bombers anyways.

>gravbikes/conclave
How good are they really? You assumed correctly, I did pretty much just throw it in off the internet, but are they that bad?

>malleus is a git
probably true. Might just take Coteaz instead and just use the footsloggers to hold backfield objectives.

>long-range firepower
Could use suggestions on that actually. The plan with the drop pod and the melta squads would be just shoot them on top of someone and cut the "long-range" out of the equation.

Maybe an Inquisitor with conversion beamer? 70 points for s10 AP 1 at 42" or greater, S8 AP2 until 18" in and then S4 AP6. Stick him in the Chimera and have him poot around in the back and pop shots at stuff and run away from scary things.
>>
>>46894527
>what's wrong with plasma pistols?

They cost more than the guy holding them.
>>
>>46894527
>15 points
might as well just get an extra scion for that price
>>
>>46894522

It should be the 30k version. There's no reason for it not to exist but it is kind of retarded in 40k.

I don't really care if it gets removed since I only use it in boring cheesy no fluff lists anyways. I would prefer a way to get other weapons for cheaper in space marines. 14 points for a guy then 20 points on top of that for a LC or 25 points more for a PF? Nah, son.
>>
>>46884624
Sixty points for a single wound model is too steep. Especially when he has a pretty good chance of frying himself trying to cast spells.
>>
>>46894522
It's an okay idea, but currently it's too strong. They need to tone back the number of shots to be more in line with other anti-armor guns.

A grav cannon has no business putting out 5 shots
