You know the drill: pick a race (or races, if you guys wanted to have a mixed-race tribal society), and pick a starting area.

This is my first civ game attempt, but I thought that I may as well make one when I have an entire day to mess around with.

The race you guys pick will be very young and the first generation of their kind.

If a race is "exceptional" at something then it gets three d100s, if it is good then two d100s and if it is okay then it gets 1d100. However if something is a struggle then it is a 1d100 - 30.

Machines in volcano
>>
30 and below is a failure, so you can see that with multiple d100s something becomes extremely easy to do and almost impossible to fail.

This fixes the issue I saw in that really awesome Unseen Civ where despite being exceptional at magic they always rolled too low while succeeding at war stuff.

This way something is made way more likely if it's said to be easy and much harder if said hard.

Switching to Machine to speed things up.

>>46843111

to add to this, specialist gives +30 to the 3d100 and abyssal is -60

So Machines (seems to be most popular but I will wait for a bit more) would be:

1d100-60 for magic
1d100-30 for breeding
1d100 for ranged and diplomacy
3d100 for melee
3d100+30 for technology.

30 or below is a failure, above that is a success.

Will be willing to adjust if people want to since something is slightly imbalanced.

A volcanic eruption hurled debris into the air, sending millions of pieces of metal compounds up, and lightning struck them. Some may even say that the gods themselves, or wild magic changed a very small handful of those ores into strange beings that run on a different form of energy to the other emergent lifeforms.

A group of these metal creatures, very simple though they were, cooled down and congregated around a half dozen slightly more colourful and complex versions. These would be the machine leaders. The ones that obey them are the obedient ones who rely upon their leaders for orders to survive.

looks like breeding and exploring won, with breeding an abject failure and exploring a success.

Robots can do two options a turn. The maginitude of success is based upon the population and the number of intelligent robots.

How long should I wait to collect votes?
At the moment we have two for each. Should I wait for three decisions each? Or is it better to just do fast posts?

The leaders looked upon themselves and at their recent experiences and experiments with the local lava flow and rocks. By careful manipulation of these resources they made basic tools, and worked out how to access energy more effectively.

An offshoot of having tools and discovering how to make crude versions of their own energy units, they can now create more drones but it is a very slow affair.

Half the machine leaders start working upon constructing additions to them that can be used for destruction. They succeed at putting on large blades and some drones were given crushers (sort of like those testtube holders except have way more pressure and can crush brittle metal heads, or animal skulls)

This was after the other research team managed to create a very strong compound from some local black rocks mixed with a material that makes black smudges.

Zealxi who loves gems and other lifeforms/concept-of-others.

>>46846195
Dr.Light took a look at Zealxi's damages and the new ways that the drones have been destroyed. He performs an autopsy on the drones and with the grudging help of another of the leaders who are unnamed.

Using existing technology, he finds out how to recreate some of the more complex parts of drones, and the more superficial of Zealxi's disrepair.

We don`t find any other Civ, only the harpies who attacked us previously. And the volcano is up, so cave into it may not be a good idea. But maybe we can direct the lava to far away with the tunel.. But the lava may give us steam power if we find water..
>>
>>46846905
Perhaps we should wait before mining, then...

Volcanic soil is rich and fertile, so I recommend we begin to harvest crops at the base of the volcano, which we can trade with others once we do find them. Or to broker a peace with the harpies, and enlist their aid... Our food and protection, for their labor and utility.

At the same time, if we're able to take any harpies, dead or alive, we can try to find a way to mimic their flight capabilities by researching the anatomical mechanics. A flying drone would be useful for scouting, or we could upgrade our Superiors with this advancement.
>>
As yet, the six leaders (4 of whom are Named) have not decided upon a name to call their civilization.

However, there has been a consensus among them that they must develop new tools - diamond tools that can be used for both military and industry and beauty - as well as explore to find such.

This unity leads to scouting along the sides of the volcano: a cave is found that is bountiful. Sparkly very hard crystals are found. There is a large seem deeper into the cave with materials Dr. Light had found among the autopsy remains.

Instead, look for an iron vein to begin mining. We may not have power cells for further drones, but we might be able to recycle old ones- or repair our damaged drones more easily- if we have access to metals and mines.

Zealxi fancies herself as both a hoarder and a priestess, so she starts tinkering around with building some sort of temple to the Goddess Asigui.

She succeeds at building a small chapel out of rocks and stabilised with metal nails drilled through some of the stones to make it fixed in shape. This act of devotion alongside the Dub-step Drone assists the others in their attempt at turning one of the drones into a Leader.

By comparing drones with leader chassis, an inferior group of leaders are made. They are Nodes who copy deep instructions given to them from the actual Leaders, so that the leaders don't need to be within communication range to give orders.

(basically leaders download their minds onto the Nodes that then relay what they understand to be the Leader's desires).

Also a yellow substance that isn't a metal has been found and Drixin uses it on a small rock, making a loud bang. Other Leaders see this occur and demand that he doesn't use it in the mines otherwise Mother Volcano might be hurt and angry.

Hey there fellow named one

>... and he suddenly had the revelation of needing a specialized building to store rare but super useful resources, as well as tools and other equipment to experiment with further, making even more specialized.

Every single Leader saw the lightbulb glowing like the sun above his head, and joined in with him.

A YUGE lab with walls of steel and rocks, a strong reinforced ceiling with a lot of lighting for precision work formed.

It had hundreds of draws and a large storehouse adjacent to it with all the raw materials that weren't specialized but would be worked upon to make more advanced gear.

Upon completion of the first proper building - and the most important of all, The Lab, the womb and beating heart of the Ashen Ones - the first creation of the Named ones was...

ANOTHER LEADER!

His first words upon creation were "I AM: Renith von Microcline"

At this, all Leaders from the Eruption that started the Ashen Ones' existence were amazed and overjoyed.

So lets stody the art of metalcrafting. A strong, reliable, versatile and lighter metal, maybe we can make. We have steel and other metal, lets try mixing things a little..
>>
>>46849175
I was thinking in a draconian look, but a humanoid type is ok for me..
>>
>>46849175
I say it'll vary based on what we need from them.
Slimmer, smaller builds for scouts.
Bigger, bulky for warriors.
No single, solid outline for all, it just varies based on what form is most suited to the purpose that we build them.

The Lab gives one free tech a turn. So we can do up to three techs a turn.

experimentation with the combining of metals has led to BRONZE, a much lighter and shiny metal alloy which allows scout-bots to traverse upon more fragile ground. It can also be used in light-but-decent-strength armour.

Can also be used for trade.

>>46849271
Yeah, so the Leaders are more humanoid looking, the combat-bots are four-legged with two weaponed arms that can move quite quickly and take more of a beating. Drones that vary according to design.

We can also have specialized machines whenever we want to design some more.

Exploration is a success. 3/7 Leaders decide that in order for their resources to be properly used, they needed to have people to trade with.

>An expedition is led down the volcano, found near a cave is a small Dwarf tribe who rely upon a small but fertile farm grown among the fertile ashes. They are not particularly developed nor are they particularly aggressive. They look at you with interest and make some sounds. Your exploration party records their voices for future research.

Others continue working on drone production and manage to increase the production of them.

We now get + 4 drones rather than +2.

Due to the increased demands from producing more drones, we now can actually run out of our closest resource supply on the surface and are going to need to rely upon mining (or getting it from other surface places).

Rolled 75, 76, 18 = 169 (3d100)

Dr. Light leads the efforts to expand knowledge and use of space and time, assisted by other Named Ones and Seven.

Turns out that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, a simple fact that has dramatic consequences and leads to whole new fields of research.

The most immediate is the principles of ranged combat - something that a couple leaders knew about but hadn't mastered - by throwing objects quite far, explosives can theoretically be used safely in combat now, though there are still worries over risking damage to Volcano's temper.

Researchers in the lab have discovered how to sense if there is going to be an eruption.

>below a 40 the volcano shakes and releases lava that will hit the shitty barricade in one turn, then to the lab after that.

Buildings: LAB and LARGE-STOREHOUSE. Wall to the north that protects us from the average volcano eruption (volcano has been found to be highly unlikely to actually go off fully like when Ashen were created)
Civilization: Religion worshiping Father Volcano and the Queen Asigui of Metal life(?). Leader-bots have an evenly distributed number of drones that obey them. Nodes take the imprints of Leader-bots minds so that the Leaders don't need to micromanage everything.
Military: One Named is decked out with weaponry, about a dozen drones can fight effectively, all drones can be retrofitted to fight after a turn but won't be as effective at normal work.
Technology: all basic shit (tools, knowledge of construction, bladed weapons, basic unpacked explosives). How to create more drones from scratch. How to build more Leaders though until population of drones meets 100 it takes concerted effort to make leaders. Mining. Metalworking. Bronze working.

>>46850394

A large, tall and cleverly build mound is built that protects the surrounding area from volcanic activity.

Zealxi brings the warning about potential activity to the Dwarfs and this also opens trade with them through mutual trust.

ballistics are improved upon and so we have a couple missile drones that are immobile but can rotate upon their hinges. They sit on top of lab
