exactly how defended IS Terra
>>
17.4.

The Moon is a Death Star.
>>
You know how every major segmentum and sector in the Imperium has a naval fleet for protection? Like, Battlefleet Solar, Battlefleet Pacificus, Battlefleet Gothic? There's a Battlefleet Terra. An entire sector's worth of naval ships to defend one system.

Enuf

dunno lol
>>

Yes.

Pretty much the single most secure system in known space.
>>
>>46771868

Most defended location in the galaxy, that's how defended it is.

During WAAAGH! Beast and HH IoM clearly undervalued its defence.
>>
Mars is filled with the sort of shit that the mechanus only bring out if they find a full STC or such. We are talking prototype weapons, relics, possibly daemon-or-AI-infested-shit-they found-in-a-room-filled with-blood, stuff they don't field cause they can't repair it, etc.

This is all before mentioning that the moons and planet of Mars are covered in star-ports, weapon emplacements and ruins of DAoT death stars. Plus all of the satellites and ships.

Every single other body in the solar system is kitted to fuck; to the point that most asteroids apparently contains a laser system to combat ships.

You forgot that Luna is Gun.

Not A gun. Not made of guns. It's the platonic ideal of Gun. It alone can be considered Enuff Dakka. If you make it past Martian orbit, you've simply doomed yourself to a much more spectacular death.

We'll see who's laughing when Terra is besieged by the 13th Black Crusade only to be saved (then besieged) by its previously hidden population of Orks.

During the Heresy the Civil War on Mars was one of the first major events (traitors won, but were blockaded), not too long after Istvaan, and the fighting in the Solar System doesn't end until the Siege of Terra is lifted: The Sol System, in a HH seminar, was described thus:
> The Solar system is the grave yard of untold dead empires etc. Fleets destroyed / artificial worlds / Dark age of technology worlds etc. - the defence of the Solar System is difficult as enemies are within and without.
>Saturn and Jupiter have lots of moons which have their own mini empires – as do the planets (case and point Furious Abyss) each has their own agenda. Loyalties are complicated.
>The Hives on Terra could be sided with the traitors – not all, but some.

And now, millennia post-Heresy, all that (that survived) is still there, loyal, repaired and built-upon further over 10'000 years.
Oh, and there's Titan, which was in seclusion, during most of the Solar War

It's safe to say that the system is pretty fucking secure, and the throneworld at it's heart is about as secure as you can get.

>Lost Primarch and Digganob Marines.
Rocks hard and would like to see an actual Digganob Marine Chapter in canon.

Remembered back when the GW site was more than just a on-line store and had a hobby section where there were Space Marine conversions. One Beakie Marine had Nob Glyphs used for armor repairs and a Nob Choppa. The Glyphs gave the marine psychological advantage over the Boyz because...well if you are bad enough of a dude to take on Nobz, then everyone else would think twice before challenging you.

>>46771868

Defended enough that you either need to be a full 2 technology tiers ahead of the Imperium (enough that their firepower is totally irrelevant because you simply avoid fighting them in an arena where it matters, like the difference between having tanks and the enemy having bows and arrows. No amount of arrows can bring down a tank) or need absolutely absurd numbers and even then you can expect devastating losses.

So you basically need to either be the Culture or the Zentradi. The Culture could do it simply by being so much more advanced that all IoM technology is insignificant in comparison, the Zentradi could do it by having more capital ships than the IoM has fighter craft, and more Warhound Titan equivalent ground units that the entire IoM has ever had space marines counting back since the primarchs were first created.

That's some "your dudes" creativity I like. Not an op marye-sue edgelord chapter, but a unique and fun play on the lore.

There was even one that cannibalized Tyranid skulls and armor plates from dead Carnifexes for armor repairs. He even had Ripper skulls for knee pads.

And there was even one that had high caliber bullet holes.

And not to mention one Techmarine that had a Plasma Gun for a hand. Clearly inspired by Megaman/Rockman.

>how defended

Holy Terra is home to trillions of humans. The hollowed planet's inner
surface is paved to provide the additional area needed to house the
Imperial bureaucracy, representatives of the founding Space Marine
Legions, such exemplary successor Chapters as the Mentors, and the
many Imperial palaces. Terra is also home to the Adeptus Custodes,
said to be as far above Marines as Marines are above mortal men - and
who happen to be the Imperium's intelligence and espionage experts.
There are more Imperial guardsmen on Terra than there are bullets in
any enemy armoury, and they are the best-trained guardsmen in the
Imperium - Americans. Since the Black Ships *all* come to Terra (where
Schola Psykana rejects are offered to the Emperor each day) there are
more human psykers on Terra at any given moment than anywhere else in
the galaxy. So, enemies could meet a few Sanctioned battle psykers if
they were to venture near. The Inquisition is seated on Terra in its
four-fold, unbreakable force, as are the Sisters of Silence. Every
House of Assassins is represented on Old Earth, as are all of
Humanity's greatest super-weapons - for obvious reasons.
>>
>>46779888

Elsewhere in the Sol system, Mars has literally everything - if the
Imperium can produce it, Mars has at least one because they keep ALL
of the tech that actually works. The system itself has enough space
stations, artificial satellites, terra-formed moons and settled
asteroids to form a virtual globe of Humanity from Mercury to Pluto -
where the navigator Houses are based. Also, there are, at any given
time, a LOT of space- and star-ships in-system. More than half are
military, and if invaders could somehow defeat or avoid all of them,
the Grey Knights on Titan have a Kill switch for the golden throne:
If the Emperor dies, the loss of His grace would leave every human in
the galaxy susceptible to Warp taint, destroying us all - and taking
Chaos with us because, should we fall (even as the Grey Knights' full
military might - ships, personnel, and defenses - punish in our wake
whatever agency had caused implementation of such a dire plan) the
souls which maintain the very existence of the Chaos Powers would
disappear at once in what might resemble a galaxy-wide Warp storm.
Instantly, every breed of Eldar would find themselves alone against
the combined power of a now-starving and united four-fold Warp Entity.

Humanity's sole salvation is that the Emperor is NOT dead - he's only
*mostly* dead - but still holding the entire Imperium together for as
long as it takes Humanity to evolve into its Final Form - psykers
strong enough to resist the wiles of Chaos from birth. But should
xenos press Him in His own home, He'd probably spare a moment from
maintaining a steady back-pressure against Warp incursion, binding
thousands of unsanctioned psykers, providing galaxy-wide Faith powers
and Tarot guides and burning the Astronomican Beacon so brightly it
can be seen almost anywhere, to obliterate the enemy force with His
holy mind bullets. So, there's that.
