pretty sweet looking, nice level of detail on the minis. Any word on crunch/game mechanics?
>>
>>46715982
What is that from?
>>
>>46716917

Spartan had a 6mm (possibly 3mm I'm not sure) what-if WW2 tank on tank game involving one side have Tigers, Konigstigers, multiple Tank Companies of Maus's (Mauses?) and a fucking Ratte.
Whilst the other had a completely fictional tank carrier that would make a pretty good Gorgon Agregate for Epic as well as multiple TOG-2's (WHY? Those things were crap!) Pershings and Shermans.

Also some simplified Mechanised Infantry tokens.

It was basically the same usual thing ruleswise as they always do (frankly, I'm not sure they needed a CQB score for this, but whatever.)
>>
>>46715792
Btw if you preorder you get this
>>
The minis look incredibly detailed for their size, but they're still tiny as fuck going by the D6 next to the Scorpion. I like slightly bigger minis for my games but I don't know the rules for this game so for all I know the game could field way more units than 40K or WHFB so maybe the smaller units are needed or something.

Looks good though.

Where are the Spartans?
>>
>>46719418

I have to say that I like the scale a lot. 15mm suits the kind of combat that ground forces in Halo would see. Trying to fit that in 28mm would give you WHFB or 40k levels of table clutter.

Spartans look like they're up and coming. Can't imagine a release without them.
>>
>>46719500
Yeah, that's true. Halo usually has larger-scale engagements than the small skirmishes 28mm games have. If they were bigger there'd be some serious clutter. I dunno, I just imagine these minis would be a bitch and a half to paint with how small they are, if they don't come pre-painted.

I couldn't imagine them releasing this without Spartans either. They're basically the entire reason people play Halo.
>>
>>46719591
I belive the starter pack comes with one, and Noble team should be released with in the first 3 expansions, and they planning to start those immediately.
>>
>>46719369
shame the human aint an ODST or spartan
>>
>>46719591
>I dunno, I just imagine these minis would be a bitch and a half to paint with how small they are, if they don't come pre-painted

15mm stuff tends to be fairly easy to paint. Not as many little details to worry about. I can paint a playoon of over 40 dudes for Flames of War in about the same time it would take me to paint 10 28mm models. Granted I also paint slow as fuck.

I know, it would be mad cool, but I guess that's telling on what's the game is going to be about, not really about the spartans and not just about the ODSTS but about the whole UNSC defense force at large, which I'm totally cool with.
>>
>>46720095
yeah, and I appreciate that, but muh ODST

they've confirmed ODST, spartans, pretty much everything that appears in the Halo trilogy.

yes, that includes scarabs.

Oh I'm sure there is going to be plenty of them, it would be a riot if they don't, but I want to see other special forces, and just plain other groups and branches and they seem to be going in that direction, I just don't want the spartans to be the be all end all

I hope the covenant doesn't become about spamming the latest super unit.
>>
>>46716159
I can't wait for this game purely because of that model.

15mm was the perfect choice of scale, 28mm would've been terrible since all the cool stuff would've never fit on the table.

I'm hoping they bring in some of the Combat evolved designs from the original game though. Some, like the warthog and pelican, had much sleeker designs and I've always preferred them over the newer and far more busy looking ones in later games.

In sure if it is successful we are going to see more campaigns, including the battle of installation 04, which would have CE designs
>>
>>46721243
I sure hope so. I'm pretty sure I remember the designers saying they would consider other game designs for models down the road in a beasts of war interview, which would be awesome.

I'm also looking forward to ODST, the drop capsule tactics they use could be really fun, especially since covenant will have access to that too with their elites.

Again, can't stress how happy I am it's 15mm. Allows for the really epic setpiece engagements the later Halos encouraged and it means we can actually fit pelicans, scarabs, and other big ol vehicles on the table (and one of the head designers has pretty much confirmed that if they can pull it off, scarabs will appear at some point). I'm also curious if the flood will ever show up. They would need an insane amount of models on the table but it could make for some awesome looking battles.

It's going to mainly boil down to if the rules are even halfway decent and if this company can tone down their ADHD to actually properly support this game. If the rules are even halfway decent, I expect this game will destroy my wallet.

>>

>>
i hope they add the flood and forerunners
>>
>>46721542
If the rules are bad, there's plenty of 15mm rule-sets out there to use the miniatures.
>>
>>46722350
Oh they will, they doing it to the fleet game
>>
>>46722788
Yeah, but most people cannot grasp the concept that they could possibly use a different set of rules than the specific ones designed a set of miniatures. It took GW to literally put a bullet in fantasy's brain behind the shed to get people to even consider the idea of other rules. Even then, most just went to 9th age and made a new system using the same old busted system.

What I'm saying is, if the rules suck, the game will die, and the miniatures along with it. These models look way too cool to let that happen
>>
>>46719591
15mm stuff is actually a breeze to paint, because you can block-paint almost everything.

Anyway, at this stage, fuck Spartan games. ANOTHER NEW GAME? YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKING RETARDED SPANKMONKEYS , YOU CAN'T SUPPORT YOUR EXISTING ONES!

no u. With Full Thrust getting a high-gloss makeover with starter set and stuff, I expect I will be re-statting my FA models when the inevitable 3.0 shits it's pants. Also, I never thought I'd say that but Gates of antares actually got a crop of very decent models that actually fit FA aesthetics, so I don't even need any of spartan's land games to make joined campaigns.

Cause, if the game is anything like their other games, infantry at this scale is abstracted into a token, in this case- APC's, so the dice denote how many poor fuckers are in those halbtracks.

Somebody was explaining how the game played on the spartan games forum:

>1) Hijack! - yes, certain units can take over vehicles. Elites and Spartans mainly from what I remember. This is so cool I don't know where to begin. Oh - you are driving that Wraith right in to my force - I'll GTA that thanks!

>2) Weapons have specialist rules within them. So the Scorpion has Piercing weaponry which I believe reduces the DR rating of the type of unit listed. So I think the Scorpion was "Piercing 2, Armour" so against other tanks, it's a beast.

>3) There is 'Suppression' in the game also. Certain weapons have better suppression ratings: HMG etc. Suppression is you roll 2D6 and add how many casualties you've taken/suppression ratings and if it's over 10 you get a cooldown marker. Which I believe stops you from over watching etc.

>4) Certain weapons have cool down. So it's quite a tactical choice of when to use it. Fuel Rods, Snipers, etc have it.

>5) Spartans are insanely good but not OP. They did eat dust in a couple of games with sustained attacks and unlucky dice rolling. There is a reason they are 180 points! They can re-roll up to 7 misses in combat so DON'T LET THEM GET THERE! grin emoticon

>6) Air Drops are possibly my favourite aspect of the game and provide something VERY unique compared to ANY other table top game at this scale. You can reinforce depleted units with units from your dead pile, you can drop NEW weapons off and much much more. Example - Unit of Warthogs has taken 2 loses. You can call in a Pelican to drop 1 off next turn to reinforce it. This is awesome. It means the field is always changing and you have to react and think on your feet. Or is your Spartan up against an armoured column? Cool - call in air drop so he can change his weapon to a Spartan Laser! Good bye tank!

Looks fun actually, I'll continue below.

Cont.'d

>Some more info from Bruce H over on Facebook:

>Right you start by making a force, you must have a HQ and a minimum of 2 basic infantry units
(Only infantry hold objectives)
You can then put 9 build rating of each (Armour/air support/infantry etc) on top but you must stay within the points
There are exceptions to this for example I was told the UNSC can take an armoured force that starts with 3 scorpions

>It is unit activations, units work together how they are bought, so an example would be a marine infantry unit which consists of 4 bases, these bases move together and fire at the same target combining their attack dice from the relevant target (AP/AT/AA)

>A dedicated AT weapon like a missile launcher can fire at a separate target from the rest as long as the rest fire at infantry while the rocket targets a vehicle etc

>Damage track works just like in fleet battles

>Reaction is like a permanent over watch, everything can try to react when the enemy does something infront of them, they must roll over their react stat, if the unit attempting to react hasn't been activated yet it'll be easier as once activated they use the 2nd (higher) number on their react stat

>Command dice allow for extra boosts to units during games, the starter set will have commanders that use 3 dice and this will be the tournament standard I was told. Lightning bolts can be used to give +1 dice to the combat pool of a unit during an attack, shield symbols can be used to -1 from an enemies combat pool... I can't remember what the Spartan helmets do sorry
>>

brilliant to see
>>
>>46726860
>>46726612

Not really guys? It's Spartan. It's the same ruleset they do for everything with some minor thematic changes, but with a different setting.

They really only make the one game, but for different settings.
>>
>>46727715
Actually, I had a glance at the stat sheets for the WWII game. Looks like it has more in common with Epic than Spartan's usual games. MARs still appear everywhere, though.
>>
>>46727715
It might be the same engine, but you still need to produce different stats and models for the games. TaskForce, Spartan's newest darling, after almost two months, has three units statted per faction, all from the starter boxes only. It was touted as being cross-compatibile with Armada by giving you stats for armada ships to play with. Fuck all about that, not even a single teaser. Ded game. Pretty much the case with every spartan game- if it's not Halo, it's going to be in development hell for a very long time at one point or another when it comes to new releases.
>>
>>46727518
>>46727531

How are the turns divided?

Forerunner/Flood war campaign when?
>>
>>46727518
>>46727531

I like what's happening. These sound like fun rules.
>>
>>46727890
I don't think that they are making a flood forerunner campaign, if only because they would have to nerf the forerunners majorly to not make their speedboat equivalent shit all over the likes of Infinity and the Assault Carriers, the flood is going to work by infecting ships and using overlays on already existing models
