The Salamanders do not actually sire families, "they have families" means that they will visit their great-great-great nephew on Nocturne occaisionally and help out with their old tribe, the most important task they perform being the evacuation of their tribe to Nocturne's citadel in Mount Deathfire during earthquake season when the land splits apart. There is NO record of Space Marines ever settling down and actually siring children, or hell even having sex. The infamous trickster Space Wolf? We know explicitly that Space Marines are completely impotent. They aren't castrated, they simply have no sexual desires at all after being brainwashed into single-minded murder machines. The pleasure noise marines experience for example is incomprehensible save for the more depraved members of the armed forces IRL (as murderboners are a thing, and said to be equal or greater to sex). A Noise Marine on average is several centuries old, has seen at least thirty large battles, and is so deeply caught in the snare of Slaanesh that sex, even violent rape, would not be entirely pleasurable. Using a sonic blaster to shake a guy to pieces in an absolute excruciating death would however elicit a burst of pleasure in their dulled brains.
