Fate Core works fine if you're trying to emulate the feel, not the gunplay.
Basically for a majority of TV shows and movies, 'Fate or Savage Worlds' is the new GURPS. They're both systems based around heroes doing heroic things.

Just make resurrections very cheap and ramp up the amount of enemies that can instantly kill the party.
