See, I think that's the problem. I've been talking about Metallics this entire time, and you've probably been assuming I was talking about Chromatics. Metallica got that polymorph/alter shape as an at-will, the ability to assume humanoid form and live among us is *built into them,* to the point that Silvers *prefer* living as humanoids, and would often spend time disguised as a squire or student to nobility.

Where does a dragon's main threats come from historically? Other dragons would be my guess. Yes, dragonslayers too but dragons as a race are old as balls. Other dragons were the main threat for most of their time.
Now, do dragons attack head-on like lizards or diving from the air like birds? If they fight head on then their front armor and some belly armor will be thick to take blows. Also likely to have thick horns for combat.
If they fight as birds with aerial ambushes from above, they'll want back armor to absorb the strike. Horns are less useful but talons gain importance in their use in that initial strike and mid-air body slam.
