So I found a couple of d20 books for a setting called Dragonstar in a second-hand bookshop. Starfarer's Handbook and Guide to the Galaxy in particular. Realizing the finite space of my bookshelf and already modest RPG collection I didn't feel like buying without doing any research?

I checked some reviews, most of them were contemporary reviews (early d20 era) and the books seem to be good overall apart from a few snags in terms of the setting and mechanics.

So I'll ask you, fellow /tg/entlemen, does this book stand against current or other science fantasy products (feel free to suggest other systems)?

I know Spelljammer is something fairly similar if you want D&D in space.

d20 is shit, but the dragonstar setting is a cool enough setting. I liked reading the fluff in it and could totally see porting a lot of it over to another system.

There are a lot of good setting books out there, unfortunately they generally are set to d20, but that's not an obstacle for the intuitive GM.

I was thinking about getting the books and just run the setting in Savage Worlds perhaps (I have the rulebook for it but I haven't played it yet). Although I wouldn't mind trying it with the original rules as D&D is already familiar to me.
