How powerful were the Primarchs really?

How powerful was Magnus compared to the Emperor? Compared to Malcador?
>>

Magnus did nothing wrong.
>>
Russ did nothing wrong.
>>
>>46194288
OH SHIT SON

WHAT ARE YOU DOING
>>
>>46194257
He was stronger than Malcador but his old man still blows him out of the water. Several times.
>>
Ahriman did nothing wrong.
>>
>>46194308

It interests me greatly the degree of difference between Malcador, Magnus, and the Emps.

Malcador was said to be the greatest human Psycher in the Imperium, aside from Magnus and Emps.

But he couldn't last on the throne for even a few hours, and Magnus was supposed to handle it like a champ.

Wonder if Magnus was the most powerful Primarch?
>>
>>46194436
Magnus was the most powerful Primarch. He was capable of stopping time and even destroying planets. It's canon that he threw the fight with Leman because he didn't want to kill his brother.
>>
Reminder that Bjorn beat Daemon Primarch Magnus with a regular plasma cannon.

And Daemon Primarchs are way stronger than their pre-daemon forms.
>>
Angron did nothing wrong.
>>
>>46194754

He did nothing right, either.
>>
>>46194766
He did nothing calmly.
>>
>>46194689
No they aren't, they're weaker due to being bound to the warp.
>>
>>46194754
Angron did one, and only one, thing wrong.
>>

I know.

Angron didn't kill Curze on sight for being an emo fucktard. :(

except Malcador sat on the chair after Magnus had fucked it up, so he was sitting on a chair keeping titan hidden from the traitor army AND help stabalise the human webway portal that was spewing demons and trying to tear terra apart.
if things had gone to plan then Magnus' job of being a navigator for the Golden throne would have been easy as fuck
>>
>>46194689
he is both stronger and weaker as a Daemon Primarch
stronger because he has more power from the warp and cant die
weaker because he is a Daemon so the warp effects him more and he still has all the rules of a daemon (can be banished, has to struggle to maintain his form)
>>
>>46194983
Urza did almost everything wrong.
And he arranges murders to give himself the moral high ground.
>>
Considering his ability to see the future is almost better then the Emperor's (stated in Angel Exterminatus by the Emperor to Pert) and the amount of warp power he has you can imagine him walking away pretty easily from anything (hence why Forgewolrd are having troubles writing up his rules)

>Has a vision of Angron trying to kill him
>decides "fuck it kill angron for lulz"
>meets up with angron
>Angron charges at Magnus only to fall into a very big pit trap already prepared by Magnus two years earlier
>Magnus' pees on Angron then teleports up to his ship whilst ordering exterminatus directly on Angron
>decides to set up a meeting with Mortarion
>>
>>46195192

>decides to fuck with Russ
>spends ten years doing Gandalf shit on other planets
>pays a suprise visit to Fenris and takes out his camera
>Russ walks outside, the planets align in a certain way causing strange symbols to form an overly complex pattern that renders all Wolf like things on Fenris to turn into Flamingo's
>Takes picture and flees
>>
>>46195192
>>Has a vision of Angron trying to kill him
>>decides "fuck it kill angron for lulz"
>>meets up with angron
>>Angron charges at Magnus only to fall into a very big pit trap already prepared by Magnus two years earlier
>Angron jams Magnus' teleporter
>Climbs out very quickly
>Decapitates Magnus in one strike
When will you learn how much Tzeench *loves* self-fulfilling prophecies, Magnus?
>>
>>46195034
There also that he wouldn't necessarily have been limited to just sitting on it. Emps was directing it while crusading around.
>>
>>46194301
In regards to Prospero, he technically didn't. As far as he was aware the Emperor ordered a hit on Magnus.
>>
>>46196354
>no need to question this, I'll just accept it at face value and kill my brother
>>
>>46196458
He was obedient, like the dog he was.
>>
>>46196458

He's already killed two other brothers. Horus carried the authority of the Emperor himself, he wouldn't question the Emperor to begin with. That's THREE reasons already why you're dumb for thinking he would.
>>
>>46196458
Russ also mentioned, right before he sacked prospero that this wasn't the first time Marines had fought and killed other Marines.
So chances are Russ and his wolves took out at least one of the forgotten primarchs and their legion.
If true then of course he wouldn't question it.
>>
>>46196703
Russ was talking about the time he thought Angron
>>
Magnus would have Rekt Russ if it weren't for that fateful blow to his eye. This is the end of the fight, it was already going badly for Russ and Magnus had him up against the ropes. All while maintaining a massive Sorcerous storm, maintaining a force field to keep the armies from intervening, and transmuting the seas into acid and the ground into hands and mouths.
>>
>>46196995
More Magnus Power feats. He clearly was the most powerful Primarch, just not the best hand to hand Combatant
>>
>>46196995
>>46197086
I get the feeling that in a one on one fight, no armies, pets or psyker dampening support, Magnus would take any of them.
>>
>>46194436
Personally I think Malcador didn't fare so well on the throne because of two things: because Magnus broke the webway the thing was taking more power than it ideally should have, and because unlike Magnus and Emps Malcador was human. There's an inherent difference between Malc and the other two simply because they're post-human.
>>
>>46194460
Except it isn't? Its stated quite clearly that once it came down to it, he stopped wallowing in self pity and actually fought for his life and lost

I mean I find it weird since he is super psyker but that's how it is
>>
>>46197637
Isn't Malcador an Alpha+-Class Perpetual psyker?

Not exactly human.

he lacks too much beard.

The primarchs as a whole are unforgivably deficient in beard factor. Even the wannabe viking is consistently depicted in official fluff as wholly lacking in beard, scarcely achieving more than 5 o'clock shadow. When you have characters inspired by medieval knights, vikings, Egyptian gods, Roman statesmen, and Greek myth, the utter lack of beard can only be interpreted as oversight of the most damning factor.

The only primarchs excepted from the rule of beard are Fulgrim and Sanguinius, as being the pretty boys of the primarch club they're not expected to have glorious beards. Add in that Fulgrim is traitor and Sanguinius loyalist and each side has its best primarch by default.
>>
>>46194689
Reminder that in the same fight the Great Wolf of the time landed with a drop pod right on Magnus' head and then plummeted his face on the ground with his fucking power fist.

Shame he died, but at least he died in the most metal way possible

For some reason he went and consulted with Horus after being told by the emperor to bring Magnus to terra and not kill prospero - and then Horus somehow was able to persuade him to kill instead
This is from adb short story howl of the hearthworld
>>

>everything he could foresee as allowing the survival of humanity

What really gets me is he build special palaces for each primarch so there was definitely a plan that after the crusade they would all live with him and he could have fixed their problems

>>

According to wolf King and other stuff like interviews Russ hated fenris for a long time and was pissed off the emperor wouldn't let him be like Dorn and others and become a roaming primarch
So he played up the barbarian image
There's a planned novel of wolf and lion which should explain this as well as any new bjorn novellas
>>
Big E is at least an order of magnitude more powerful than his sons.

Magnus had the ability to piss his father off like no other Primarch. Seriously, even with Lorgar the Emperor never lost his temper as much and as often as he did with Magnus

>Russ hated fenris for a long time

Got a screen cap of that? Seems like Fenris is the type of place that Russ would love. It's kinda funny though picturing him as a book worm though just acting like a Barbarian to fit his executioner role, now that you mention it even one of the Custodes said something about Russ being a barbarian just an act

In theory Magnus was the most powerful of them. He soloed titans at least twice.
>>
>>46202788
>Russ had come to Fenris, so they told him afterwards, during a time of storms. The skjalds still spoke of them– the northern skies cracking open, lit by sheets of silver, and the earth of unbreakable Asaheim shifting for the first and last time in mortal memory.

>Russ himself remembered none of that, nor of the time before, save for the fractured dreams that came to him in the brief lulls between battles– the smells of chemicals and the hum of arcane machinery; the half-aware sensation of floating in fluids, listening to the careful movements of attendants outside the amniotic tanks; the tick-tock of monitoring equipment; the whispering of voices that may or may not have been human.

>To have those memories was impossible, so they must have been projections from after the event, only crystallising once the Allfather had explained the circumstances of his creation. After that, Russ had been forced to accept that he had not been birthed on Fenris at all, and that the wolves, the ice, the storm and the summer-fire were all a random imposition on a childhood that had been conceived very differently.

>Of course, there was a sense in which he had always known that. Even before the Allfather had come he had felt the wrongness of it, as if some colossal sham had been perpetrated, locking him in a nightmare at once seductive and terrifying. The wolves bowed their heads before him, as did the mortal warriors he conquered or slew with such bewildering ease, and he wanted to scream at them, ‘Who are you? Why am I stronger than you?’

>There had been no understanding of this on Terra. The Emperor, the Allfather, his shifting visage always impossible to read, had kept him in isolation for a long time, doling out information in morsels, teaching him to use power armour, to command starships, to control the warp-awareness that ran through his veins as thickly as his hyperoxygenated blood.
>>
>>46203510
>‘I could leave Fenris now,’ Russ had once told his father. ‘The planet is too wild for life– it will never support the armies you deserve.’

>Leave Fenris. Unimaginable to think that he had ever said that. At the time of that exchange, decades ago, the Fenrisians of the VI Legion were being brutally moulded into the death world’s image. They had started to build the Fang, hollowing out the Great Mountain with earth-gougers the size of Warmonger Titans. The Emperor had clearly expected the Wolves to be drawn from the world of ice and fire, and that, whether by chance or design, their uniquely violent home would remain the proving crucible of the Legion.

>And so the pretence continued. Russ became more like the Fenrisians than they were themselves. He guzzled mjod with the baresarks, and wrestled blackmanes to the bloody snow, and roared out scorn and mirth across the sea of stars. He let the gothi adorn his armour and engrave his swords. He kept out of the counsels of Guilliman and the Lion, and ignored every emissary from Lorgar. He did just what the Allfather had told him– he became the weapon of last resort, the most faithful, the prosecutor of dirty wars.

>There was no resentment when Fulgrim’s purple-and-gold Legion took the Palatine Aquila, nor when Vulkan was taken aside for so long into secret confidence, nor, most of all, when Horus was made Warmaster and the arguments over who was the truly chosen son became academic. Russ knew, right down in his gut, that the Wolves had been made the way they were for a reason, that none other could perform their blood-soaked function. In the final analysis, were the Imperium to falter, it would be his foot pressed against the neck of any usurper, watched over by the benign and inscrutable gaze of his gene-father, the author and definer of all his misery and his uncertainty, all his bliss and all his glory.

>But now that sham was over. He had truly become what he had once only pretended to be. He felt the world-soul pulse under his skin, and no scrubbing would remove the stain of it. The runes were no longer just marks, to be tolerated as the suspicions of a backward people. They spoke to him, like conspiratorial jailers gloating over the turning of a prisoner to the cause. In defeat, he at last understood why the Emperor had never let him leave Fenris behind.

>It has claimed me. It has clawed me back.

>He looked down at the runes again, scattered before him on the stone, the same pattern as before. The shape of it was emerging, dragged out into reality like a bloodied infant bawling on the tent floor. He stared hard, seeing some of the same things he’d seen before, and new things, blurred by doubt, intruding on the margins of the picture he’d created for himself.

>He was close now. He could hear some of the words, mumbled by fate and on the hinterland of hearing. Just a few more throws. Just a few more casts onto the shifting sea.

>The chime sounded at his doors, shattering his fragile sense of understanding.

>He had no idea how long he had been studying. From the burned-out braziers, it must have been hours. The only light in the chamber came from the ports in the far wall, letting the dull red of the gas clouds flood in.

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it?

The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always."

> "Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

And it's stated in Talon of Horus and other books in the HH series that Magnus knew the attack was coming months in advance and could have broken the entire Wolf Legion. He didn't because he wanted to be the noble victim instead of simply murdering his brother and slaughtering the wolves. He threw the fight, or else he could have slaughtered them all.
>>
>>46205585
Understand what happened.

Tzeentch told Magnus that he can destroy the Wolves in the Warp, if he just asks him to. Magnus refused.

Magnus then decided to suicide via Russ in order to stop himself from being a pawn of Tzeentch. However, he changed his mind when the death of his legion plucked on his heart too much. He stepped forth to fight Russ for real rather than accept death, for his sons.

Then he got wrecked.

>>His boorish savage barbarianism is just an act.
God forbid attempting to comprend the culture of his imposed home world
>>His psykers don't use the warp they use superspeshul 100% organic planet magic that kills demons.

>>magnus doesn't actually deliver the warning
How's this leman Russ fault?
>>the 1k sons had it coming all along

>>the wulfen are genetically anti-chaos.
