I remember, long ago, a post from /tg/ with President Andrew Jackson and another president (not certain who) statted out as monsters from a classic Monster Manual. Someone then wrote a short page of fiction with (I think) Teddy Roosevelt encountering them somewhere outdoors, or descending into their lair.. Hyenas were involved?
It was statted out like so:
Andrew Jackson
No. Appearing: 2-6
40% chance to be accompanied by 1d4 hyenas
Environment: Dry prairie
Armament: Greatsword, javelin
I am approximating from memory as I can't find it in my archives, but I hoped to use it as inspiration for a silly one-shot. Can anyone help?

They're helmets. My guess is they represent lives, while hearts represent health.
I think killing the princess got him an extra life and a health upgrade, bringing him from 2/3 hearts to 4/4 hearts.
