Fuck Green Edition
>>
I can't tell if this thing is any good
>>
>>46082901
Probably not. In any format with Diabolic Revelation, this card gets blown out of the water. And as far as I'm aware, nobody played Revelation outside of EDH.
It might have some cute Madness interaction, but I wouldn't count on it. Seven mana up front leaves you with little to pay Madness costs.
>>
Hopefully you were activating madness abilities and dumping your hand, and this is the last card in your hand. 3 demonic tutors for the price of 3.5, mana wise it's decent; honestly, diabolic tutor is fair price for that effect. I would like to chain these together, almost like sorcery speed dig through times. For full price. I bet legacy combo decks will like these, it sort of reminds me of the parallel to Lions eye diamond

Tip from an old pro: if a 7cmc sorcery doesn't affect the board state, it's probably a commander card.
>>
That green chick is kind of interesting, though.
>sac three clues, drop a creature
There's some way of doing that for less than six mana, right? Tragic Arrogance comes to mind, but that's pretty inefficient.
>>
It's three tutors for a price that should make your hand empty if you're on curve. If you don't have another 7 drop, it's probably decent. If you do, it might not be great, since you'd rather be dropping that than this.
>>
>>46082901
It's not. EDH has better tutors, and that's the only place an effect like that at 7cmc might ever see play.
>>
>>46082987
searching for any land isn't to be overlooked either

>>
>>46082987
If you simply tap tamiyo's journal you sac three clues and get to tutor then drop a creature at end step if you have green chick.
>>
>>46083025
I have to admit it would be cool the one time it ever happened to anyone, but there are better cards to visit that particular Christmasland with than this piece of shit.

Whenever it deals combat damage investigate

If you have sacrificed three clues this turn, put a creature from your hand onto the battlefield on the end step.

99% sure thats the card.
>>
>>46083085
Seems pretty good. You're still drawing cards in addition to putting down the creature, which means even if it's lower than CMC 6 there could still be some value.

It also says each end step, which means you can sac them in your opponents turn and have it ready to swing on yours.
>>
It's terrible. Outside of EDH, at best, it's "You can set up your win for next turn, assuming your opponent has no disruption."

It's a shit-ass mythic that's insulting to everyone who ever pulls it. Three Demonic Tutors + extra mana + hand discard does not equal anything close to feeling mythic.
>>
I really just want to see someone mill themselves out with Investigate. Just once.
>>
>>46082945
I think people played like one Revelation in control decks in Standard. Certainly not a great card.

>>46082856
It's sweet for control mirrors when you have a ton of mana late in the game. It's ass if you're under any real pressure, though. So probably unplayable.

What did you think of pic related? At least standard playable in my opinion. I really want to see a playable werewolves deck, although by seeing the spoilers I guess it will be shitty overcosted wolfies again.
>>
>>46082901
I have no experience with the eternal formats, so I could be totally wrong, but I imagine with some ridiculous fast mana and a three card infinite combo, this thing could be playable.
>>
>>46083240
It'd be better if it had Hexproof instead of Trample. As it stands it basically reads 'When Silverfur Partisan dies, put a 2/2 green wolf creature token on to the battlefield.

Almost certainly included in whatever RG aggresive/mid-range deck ends up spring up around Arlinn

>>
>>46083243

Have a good understanding of the sets commons and uncommons.

Decent practice is to build the best deck out of commons in each color. It helps you recognize the colors strength in the set. IE sometimes a color will have a bunch of good 2 drops which means you can pass on them till later in draft while another color might only have 1 good 2 drop.

Dang, that's a nice anthem.

I was always surprised White Weenies never took off in Theros block. Spear of Heliod LOOKED like a great card.
>>
>>46084384

Maro is so fucking retarded

>"A bloo bloo bloo! Adding several entirely green effects into a single card totally makes it a not-green effect!"
>>
>>46084274
WB in particular gets a free pass because WB is considered to have very little as a color combination.

W has a lot of color identity. Black has a lot of color identity. WB as a combination doesn't.

Also, Death Grasp is a reprint from fucking Apocalypse.
>>
>>46084384
Meanwhile has he ever addressed the weird blue thing where they let blue answer creatures on the field with exile as long as they replace it? Cause I always found that to be a violation of the color pie, polymorph should just change the nature of the card, not remove it from the game.
>>
>>46084203
Really? Damage and Drain has been in black for quite a while. It's even sort of Sorin's signature "thing" -- Sorin's Thirst and Sorin's Vengeance both do it, and it shows up on Sorin's very first Planeswalker card as well.

Admittedly, "deal three damage to each creature you opponent's control" isn't a very green effect, even if you might get some beasts afterwards.

That's why I wish they wouldn't make 15 mythics a set if they can't find 15 cards to fit the slot. That red hound and this shitty tutor really aren't anything to write home about.
>>
>>46084473
I am aware, I just think it should stop already, if they're gonna be anal about strict color restrictions, then they should stay truer to blue's and not give them any way to actually answer a card already on the field that isn't bounce.
>>
>>46084497
Green has been the best color in magic for a few years now. They just use blue as a scapegoat for their bans and an excuse to not give red anything playable.

Fight is a green effect and obviously Maro is fine with dudes that fight and even dudes that fight on ETB. But a spell that fights is really a different beast.

Get it? Eh. I'm not getting into the argument. Blue hasn't actually twisted the color pie in any recent block set. Commander and coresets is always full of trashy color bending cards. Look at Hornet Queen.

Its flavorful, but the problem is it still gets rid of the actual card, when blue is supposedly not able to do that like red can't hit enchantments. I know in practice they aren't actually that stellar, but its still something they twist unfairly in blue's favor while they complain about bends in other colors.

>>
>>46084667
Yeah but thats the issue with it over something like Withengar. Granted this seems easier to achieve in a token deck than using Elbrus in a Voltron but im wondering about its efficacy in other playstyles.

For example i could see this being used in a creature heavy Animar deck in EDH or a lategame in standard since you crap out more creatures there.

Sorry if im rambling but feel free to take a swing at my theories.
>>
>>46084702
He's saying he wants to run it in standard with her and that as key cards, not that he wants to run the demon land in edh with her as a commander.
>>
>>46084591
Hornet Queen is not a green card. You know this. Everyone knows this. It is 5 tiny fliers.

As for the fight card, as an example, let me make a Blue card that does something not blue by using blue mechanics.

"Target creature gets +0/+5 until end of turn. Switch target creature's power and toughness until end of turn."

All Blue mechanics and technically fair in terms of color pie. You get the problem? I know Green doesn't get enough toys. And I know it should get more.

Especially in sets like Commander when we have to deal with the dozens of color pie abortions throughout MTG's history. Which is why I personally don't give a shit about them printing that card.

But I understand someone who ONLY gives a shit about 60 card casual (ie. Maro) not wanting that sort of thing. EDH is just not what MTG is really designed for, which is why colors like R and W end up being fucking awful.
>>
>>46084702

>>
>>46084648
As I mentioned in another post, the idea is that the color pie is built with normal MTG rules. ie. 20 life, relatively short games, primarily single player.

And in that context, switching a 4/3 flyer with a 3/3 ape isn't really getting rid of the problem. Things like that.

1. not appearing when she needed his and Ugin's help to prevent the Eldrazi from fucking shit up
2. something unknown when Sorin and Nahiri met up, they've had a falling out or something since
3. Sorin and Nissa traveling to the Eye of Ugin and the release of the Eldrazi fucking the plane up
So Nahiri is now on Innistrad going "FUK U SORIN" and the plane is fucking with Avacyn. Avacyn is going mad and killing humans. Sorin is like NUH UH! YOU ARE GROUNDED and then kills her. Now Sorin and Nahiri are gonna sword fight because Nahiri is killing all of Sorin's homies.

Depends on context, while its true a 4/3 flyer or a 3/3 ape or frog beast doesn't make it completely less threatening, vanilla creatures with no protection are gonna be less threatening than whatever you decided was worthy of trading for a 4/3 or 3/3.

I don't want polymorph gone, far from it, I like that they thought of a way to make it work within the game rules, I just don't think it should be removing the original cards in any fashion. Off the top of my head, maybe a counter that changes the nature of the card for as long as the counter is on the card, I feel that would make more sense and less of a violation of blue's apparent cans and can't.
