How is the card unusable? It's a perfect control finisher and an easy supporter for a potential combo/ramp deck giving secondary uses to 10+ CMC cards.

We don't know why Sorin missed his appointment on Zendikar the first time around, but he damn sure showed up when he was supposed to the second time, and it was Nissa, not him, who fucked things up - and his immediate reaction is to go and seek out Ugin to help things.
Sorin's every action has been basically to save everyone he comes across, largely from their own stupidity. He is the hero the Multiverse needs but doesn't deserve.

The artwork here is just sloppy. The composition is boring. His orientation towards the viewer and the forshortening of his hunched-forward posture make his proportions look fucked, The silver armor sticks out so much more than his actual silhouette, creating the impression that his anatomy is fucked. And most of all, that pose is awful. He's holding the sword SIDEWAYS and drawn at a screwy angle, leaning forward with his upper body, while taking a step forward.

How do you know she didn't check the Eye of Ugin first, find him not there, and then go to look for him before he arrived? Then, when she gets back, the Eldrazi are actually OUT, and there's evidence that he was at the Eye when they were released.

Then the smart thing to do would be to save her homeplane from the Eldrazi menace and then track down the vampire.
One of those is time sensitive. While she goes after Sorin, Eldrazi ravage her home. While she deals with the Eldrazi, what's the worst thing Sorin could do? He already released the Eldrazi.
There's little else of the same scale, and probably nothing with the same level of personal investment for her.
I sincerely hope she ends up being brainwashed by Bolas or something, because while it would be predictable, at least it wouldn't be as stupid.

It's a horrible control finisher. Finishers and six mana cards are supposed to win you the game. New Sorin is absolute trash for everything outside of edh. Which is a format that gets away with expensive cards that don't necessarily directly do much. Which is why it's the best format.
