So, how did mankind conquer the galaxy back in the day when astronomican wasn't a thing?

SHHHHH!
Shut up, anon! Don't make the inquisition come looking for you!
>>
Without the need for eyes.
>>
Just like the Tau are doing it.
>>
>>45841357
With the AI calculating the routes and shit I guess.
>>
>>45841357
The warp was easier to navigate back then. Presumably there still would have been some beacons of sorts for navigators to see their way but it would have been better computer coordination to help them.

As for the actual conquering it would have been with legions of war machines. The Legio Cybernetica is but a fragment of what the armies of man might have deployed.

>back in the day

In the day, the tech lost after M30 was pretty darn spiffy: It made all of the miracles that occurred to get mankind to M30 possible. Once the speedbump of finding cures for male pattern baldness and erectile dysfunction were out of the way, science was finally free to progress by leaps and bounds until it was indistinguishable from Space Magic. Which it sort of was. Then Sonny Jim got Daddy issues and the galaxy turned into shit.

Then, it got worse.

No wonder Men of Iron happened...

HUGE GUTS.

With warp engines? How is this a question?
>>
>>45841491

Good point. The Warp was calm back then, before the turmoil caused by the birth of Slaanesh and the fall of humanity.
>>
>>45841833
A little backwards.

The warp was calm because the gods weren't being fed as much. Slaanesh was in a way gestating as the eldar got more and more decadent, the warp became a roiling storm. When slaanesh was born the warp calmed which allowed the crusade to happen
>>
>>45841357
Navigators were always there.
>>
>>45841357
There should be a warhammer 25k, we need more fluff for the dark age of technology.

In first heretic lorgar visits casual which is near the centre of eye of terror which did not exist when humans settled cadia. It is also said that the eye is in the centre of the eldar empire. So the humans came along and colonised a planet near the heart of eldar empire and eldar had no issue with this. Lol wut.
also humans are living on cadia all is cool suddenly sky explodes as the eye is formed. Hurr durr totally normal, no records of that ever
>>
How big was the human empire back then I mean the eldar still was the dominant force at the time, they must have come to trade blows with eachother.
>>
>>45842894
It would have been only border skirmishes.

Full blown war between humanity at its peak and elder even on the downhill would have fucked the galaxy up to the point of being uninhabitable.
>>
HH series has imperials find a dark age of technology era astronomican. It was called a Pharos and could teleport shit without using the warp
>>
>>45842884
It's Implied that the humans on cadia knew the creation of the eye of terror was co I got and the people who settled there were cultists who wanted to be close to slaanesh
>>
>>45842736
My head Canon basically has dark age of technology humans as the hyper advanced ancient human from halo
>>
>>45842884
Chaos lies, you know.

The Eldar are a Galaxy-spanning empire, remember, and they were so powerful they would've crushed the Dark Age humans. But during this time Mankind had mastered technology to the extent that they could travel anywhere using the Warp without much worry thanks to their Gellar Fields or something. And the Eye already existed; they actually built massive cruise ships to sail around it becuase it looked so cool. That's straight from Battlefleet Gothic.
>>
The Eldar problably had a lot of memorables orgies back then, I bet some of them even had some token humans in them.
>>
>>45843325
Was it ever specified what type of governament humanity had back then.
I think it would have been like E.U "works".
>>
>>45841357
It was conquered very slowly and with high attrition.

I had this 40k fic I was working on that dealt with the start of the Men of Iron Rebellion but never finished it.

Had the idea that while the local governments and such might operate like that, the human empire itself was run but a powerful council that oversaw the entire thing. The dozen of them were each neural linked to each other and an AI. As a whole this group was connected via a vast superluminal communications network to fleet command ships and military made up of Titans and Men of Iron.

The speaker / representative for the council on Earth is responsible for dealing with the other planetary leaders and such but isn't actually a member of the council connected to the network. As the age of strife approaches the speaker becomes one of the first people to begin manifesting warp powers but conceals it. He may or may not have been hearing more voices and following their advice.

Eventually he and a group of others try to take the place of the council to assume control of the human empire themselves but things don't go as planned. All of them end up connected to the galaxy spanning network at the same time as several of the council members are murdered, driving their connected AI's nuts. Between that and the remaining old guys still hooked up trying to have the usurpers killed a number of the AI end up corrupted and the distorted signals are sent to all corners of the human empire.

The Men of Iron rebellion begins and it becomes a race to destroy every advanced warship and shipyard before the last human controlled ships are themselves lost. All while racing the clock of increasing warp storm and psyker activity.

Sounds interesting. Do you still have the draft of it?
>>
>>45843340
It is stated nowhere that they would have crushed the humans.
Considering how they birthed Slaanesh, it's more likely that the Eldar Empire was in decline already.
The times were suns lived and died by their whims long gone because murderfuck each other to death is much better.
>>
>>45843340
The Eye did not exist already. The Eye is were the Eldar core worlds once were.
It literaly the new asshole Slaanesh ripped into the galaxy at birth.

In a Thousand Sons a now defunct communications device from the golden age stands on the central plaza of Tizca.

I didn't have very much done on it and what I did was misplaced with notes of a few related 40k stories when the HD on my laptop took fall damage.

I do remember most of the plot lines. One quick one was with an informant in the government telling Emps shit was going down and to go underground ASAP.

Another followed an officer aboard one of the battleships in Earth Orbit. They were fighting off the rebelling war machines normally used to repel borders. Eventually they set as many reactors to self destruct then abandon ship, using personal shields to survive in the vacuum until a friendly Stormbird picks them up.
They crash land on Earth which is rapidly going to shit from a mix of lance bombardment and falling ship and station debris. Spend the next days fighting their way between STC manufacturing systems that can build them cheap weapons. Start off with their fancy navy tech plasma pistols and the like but soon are reduce to having STC's print off simple lasguns before they fail entirely or are destroyed.
Spend their last days slapping guns into the hands of any survivors or even kids that can pick them up. Last survivors of their group eventually arrive at a safe zone some of emps people have set up.

There was one plot line with Totally not Admiral Janeway commanding one of the last pre-fall battleships. Hunting down Men of Iron strongholds and blasting anything the converted human cargo ships from Mars won't be able to deal with later.
Eventually ends up stranded from a warp storm, ship falling apart from fighting and plummets into the atmosphere of a Jovian planet.
>>
>>45844698
But where did the Men of iron went, how the fuck did humanity won that one.
>>
>>45844368
>>45844331
There was one Specialist Games supplement that included stats and fluff for some kind of Chaos supercarrier that was built as a cruise ship to sail the Eye of Terror. Things went badly, as you might expect, and it's some kind of supercarrier with 12 carrier wings.
