What's the best enchantment for this?

This. Wooden swords are training weapons only.

Every time you swing it, it increases in size by 400,000%.

And it smells like vanilla.
>>
>>45815804
Okay. Here's what i don't get when i see this. Why would that be a useless weapon but a club isn't? Hell make it out of ironwood and its gonna fuck up anything it hits though you'd have to reduce width a bit.
Ever been hit by a normal plain katana shaped bokken? It will break bones easily. Think what one with heft and an edge would do.
>>
>>45815917
Why would you use a wooden sword shaped club when you could use a purpose built club or an actual sword?
>>
Acid proof? Use it as a lightweight slime and rust monster beater? Or some kind of enchantment to increase non lethal damage for situations you don't want someone dead. Ironwood obviously. There are lots.
>>
>>45815944
I'm not saying its a great idea but it absolutely can be used as a weapon.
>>
>>45816155
Weapon in shape for sword but mane out of wood will break in first couple hits. Clubs are sturdier.
>>
>>45815944
>a wooden club with a shaped edge to focus impacts and be used in a similar manner to a sword is not a purpose built club
You are this fucking stupid, man, really.
>>45816180
You really have no idea what you are talking about, do you?
>>
>>45816248
Which is why the Japanese used the bokken as a weapon all the time and didn't bother developing a wide variety of clubs more suited to their needs.
>>
>>45816484
Next you'll ask why Europeans had so many weapons when all you needed was a polearm.
The existence of one weapon doesn't invalidate other weapons.
>>
>>45816536
A more accurate comparison would be asking why Europeans used polearms when they already had broomsticks.
>>
Miyamoto Musashi niggas. If the premier murderhobo of feudal Japan endorses it, it's not useless as a weapon. It's not the most optimal, but it's not useless.

Also wooden bokken =/= club. Most dedicated striking clubs have the mass concentrated at the striking head. The bokken having a more uniform mass distribution would make it more controllable, which some users will find worth the loss of striking power.
>>
>>45815771
Healing.
>>
>>45816536
Nigger most people in Europe DID use polearms.

Swords were expensive and a sign of nobility. Nobody entered combat with just a sword unless they had stolen it off a body and it was all they had.
>>
+1d6 fire.
>>
>>45815771
Being slightly longer then the other guys sword.
>>
>>45816248
Wood isn't as ductile as metal. A wooden sword is much more prone to breaking because the long, thin shape of a sword is not strong when made of wood, and because the strength of a piece of wood is permanently diminished every time it's cut in any way.

The size of the strike area is a force multiplier: the smaller it is, the more damage results from a given amount of force.
As noted above, cutting wood weakens it, and wood is not terribly ductile. As a result, carving the wood to reduce it's strike area both weakens the piece as a whole and concentrates force on a smaller area of the weapon, resulting in splintering. This damage cannot be repaired, and as the grain structure of most wood is not perfectly straight, there is a hard limit on how small the strike surface can be before the edge breaks from the grain.

If you cannot multiply force via area, you can do so via leverage of mass.

Therefore, the strongest shape for a wooden weapon is one which concentrates weight towards the end, has a wide, durable strike area, and requires as little woodworking as possible.

In other words, a common club.
>>
+2d6 wood damage.
>>
>>45817052
Nobody is arguing that it's the BEST club, but you have to learn that things can be good enough without being the best. It's perfectly serviceable as a weapon. Will it last years? No. Will it kill a fucker dead? You bet your assistance it will.

Also, it has much more reach than a standard club, which gets dramatically heavier the longer it gets.
>>
>>45815771
You need to magically enhance it to +1 before you can further enchant it.
>>
>>45815771
To cut without cutting. It bypasses armor/damage resistance and has huge crit potential. As a trade off the base damage isn't impressive.
>>
>>45816484
Musashi did. He famously killed Sasaki Kojiro with a wooden sword he carved from an oar.

It's also not so much that clubs aren't useful in general as that wooden weapons aren't always the best choice when your opponent has a sharpened steel sword or a spear or something.

Ideally something to keep it from breaking. Bonus if you can also enchant it to reduce the cool downs on your Thu'um.

Carving the oar into a quarterstaff would have been far more sensible and take less time.
>>
>>45821294

But he was challenged to a SWORD duel! You can't fight in a SWORD duel with a quarterstaff!

Oars are different for japs. All he had to do was curve it a bit. Turning this into a quarterstaff would have been harder than adding a slight curve to the oar head.

Bone breaking.

In 3.5 there is a spell that breaks bones and causes 1d3 con damage.

To be fair, Niten Ichi-Ryuu also encompasses a bunch of bojutsu.

Niten Ichi-Ryuu, also known as the style of "slap your enemy's face while he's not taking you seriously for using a fucking stick instead of a sword"

The funny part is the pic title 'iaido bokken' when neither of these bokken designs are really suited to practicing Iaido.

Bane (Undead) or Holy.

>Why would that be a useless weapon but a club isn't?
Clubs are weapons of desperation. Maces are what you go for if you have the luxury.
>>
>>45818037
Musashi did that to get a reach advantage, because Kojiro was famous for using a longer weapon, and Musashi was a fucking troll. You can get he would have preferred a sword in that fight if he could have gotten one forged quick enough.

And one instance, that may in fact be complete fabrication, does not make it a good weapon.
>>
>>45816656
>Miyamoto Musashi niggas. If the premier murderhobo of feudal Japan endorses it
He literally never endorsed it as a weapon.
>>
>>45828776
Well that sort of weapon is used as a weight training weapon, so it could be used to increase the speed and strength of the user, which is useful in Iaido.

That's actually a suburito as viewed from the side and from the top.

So that's only one bokken.
>>
>>45816656
Musashi was a duellist, and the oar-boken thing was a ploy among other ploys to throw his opponent off guard during the fight-- like his go-to move of showing up to the duel hours late after they'd been stewing in their own rage.

He certainly didn't pull out a wooden sword on a battlefield.

I think when people start talking viability of a weapon, they start thinking of it as a primary weapon of a PC, which would need to last more than a little while. It does serve as a weapon, but it shouldn't be used as your primary source of damage and isn't likely to be something you just happen to have within reach when shit hits the fan.
>>
>>45831285
If you're a PC though, you can get it magically enhanced, or if the setting doesn't allow that, multiple.

Because why be the guy who fights with a wooden sword when you can be the guy who fights with ten wooden swords?

You carry ten clubs around, people are going to think you're about to start a campfire, innit? It's not intimidating at all.

Although, real talk, for a game, you should be able to use anything that could reasonably kill a man as a weapon, and then some. Some systems don't support that we'll, especially 3.PF, but using unconventional weapons is a priveleged honor of being a PC
